REV'IT! Sand Pants

The SAND Pants offer 4-season, year round comfort and protection from both pavement and the elements.  The SAND Pants offer a double PWR/shell seat and PWR/wax coating on the inside of the legs, for a better grip on the bike. The legs are also versatile: thin enough to wear inside the boot, but wide enough to wear over it. Watercatchers prevent water from creeping up into the leg, and a detachable thermal lining and removable 3-layer membrane round out the total comfort of the SAND trousers.

The Sand Pants will zip with any current model men's REV'IT Jacket

REV'IT! Sand Pants 4.4 5 79 79
Great pants for European travels Have had these pants a couple of months now and have been been nothing but pleased. I live in northern Italy and have used these pants in snow, rain, sleet, and above average heat. They keep you dry and cool if needed and warm if required with the liner in. I usually wear these over my Army uniform and have never had an issue getting them on or off. Great pants and love the suspenders with them. I have a 34ish waist with a 30in inseam and bought the 38S pants which fitted easily over my Army pants and boots. April 27, 2013
Rev'it Sand Pants are great value for the price. I'm 6'0 and got medium, they fit at waist and leg width but could be longer inseem. When I ride my 2012 V-strom there was wind on my ankles. Overall good pants and would recommend them to friends. March 25, 2013
Great all-season pants - fit VERY small, use manufacturer sizing guide I ordered the 2XL short version of these, I usually wear 36W and 32L jeans. Ideally I would wear 31 length jeans as the edges usually curl over the back of my shoes. That being said, these fit VERY short, but I can fit a pair of jeans under them and adjust the waist setting to have room. The first time I tried them on it was with all three layers - thermal, waterproof, and outer shell. I felt a little cramped under all three layers, so ordering again I would not have opted for the short version. That covers the sizing. The waterproofing is amazing, I live in Seattle and can attest that even without the rain layer on last night I rode 40 miles in an absolute torrential downpour and JUST barely got wet in the thighs of my jeans underneath by the time I got home. Had I had the waterproof layer been on I would have been set. But even without these offer great waterproofing. My biggest complaint is that the knee protectors seem to always slide to the inside of my knee, and I usually try and tuck the pants inside my boots so I don't have to constantly adjust the knee protection. Overall I like the pants, great all season protection. Plenty warm. I was riding in 39 degree temps last night and felt plenty warm. I got them on sale, and I would recommend them. BUT BUY BIG!!!! March 18, 2013
A solid product with minor flaws. Ridden at around 50°f with just the insulated lining they do a fantastic job of blocking cold. I'm sure that adding the rain liner will improve it even more. Add a thermal base layer and I don't see having a problem with these well down in to freezing temperatures. I haven't worn them in rain yet so I can't comment on that at all. The waistline is accommodating so I wouldn't even worry about it. The most important measurements are the inseam and the hips. Like a lot of other reviews I feel the pants ride up a bit too much while riding, I assumed they would be cut to fit my inseam while in a riding position, it is just the standing inseam so look for a pair a little longer than you might normally want, especially if you have forward controls. In the hips they seem a little bit tight, I wasn't expecting that. I know they're padded and all but the fit is fine just about everywhere else, with the waist being a bit spacious even when tightened. As a result of the fit around the hips I don't think I could entertain the idea of wearing jeans under these, even without the linings. So if you have an athletic butt of any kind be wary and maybe buy a size up. March 4, 2013
Great pants, but size is slightly small The size is small especially when all the layers are on. I am 5'-9", 170 lbs, regular pant size 34". I ordered a large and it is snug when all the layers are on the pants. It is comfortable when the thermal layer is off. If I ordered an XL, it would be too large. I will mostly wear it during the summer months anyway. February 27, 2013
Overall I'm happy with the pants. I took all the required measurements and the sizing chart indicated a large short. They were too short, exchanged them for large regular. My first long ride was cold, the pants performed well, kept me comfortable. When it warmed up, taking out the two liners I was still comfortable. On the downside riding thru a bad rain left me with a damp (not wet) butt. They fit well but the knee armor sits too low when standing. Seated they're OK tho the left pressed too hard on the knee. Pulling on the pants leg helped. They're not perfect but I'm glad I have them. February 25, 2013
Great Pants I've taken these pants on a few rides and they are great. Warm enough in colder weather. Haven't tried them out when it's hot out. Great pants, great protection, easy on/off February 20, 2013
Great Pants I've ridden around 300 miles in these pant in low 40-50 degree wet weather here in Wasbington State and have stayed warm and dry. Measure your waist, donot use your pant/levi size. The pants use your measured waist size. I have only used the pant with both liners installed at this time, cannot review for ventilation (warm weather). Great service again from Revzilla! Answer:
The Cayenne and Sand garments should zip together with no problems. All current (or recent) REV'IT! garments have the same style connection zippers. Garments of similar size (e.g. LG jacket & LG pants) will have the same length full-circumference connection zipper but if you must intermix sizes, then the 8" connection zipper should be used.

Answer:
I have the Cayenne Pro Jacket in XL, and have tried on the L and XL the Sand 1 jacket in-store (XL fits me best). Both CP and Sand 1 have pockets for the Sas-Tec back protector in the recommended size for your jacket model. The CP and Sand come with temperfoam, I believe, which is not very protective... Remember that the Sas-Tec Back Protector mounts on the inside of the shell, so if you like room in between your shoulders you should account for the additional 1-2 inches of room around the chest when wearing it with the various Jacket layers--for example, will be perfectly snug ( race fit) with the Sas-Tec and all layers in my XL Cayenne Pro, and I am about a 42R in sportcoats.

Answer:
REV'IT! uses an inseam measurement from the crotch to the middle of the ankle bone, and measurements correspond to body measurements, not the actual length of the pants. For a given inseam measurement, the pants will be slightly longer to account for how the pants will fit in the riding position. In a 2XL, the Short, Standard, and Long lengths correspond to an body measurement inseam of 31, 33, and 35 inches respectively. Therefore, the difference between each length is 2 inches, or 4 inches overall from Short to Long.

Is it better to go too long or too short? The short seem just fine as I'm standing but too short when I'm mounted [well above my ankle]. The regular seem long as I'm standing but right when I'm sitting on a bike [at my ankle]. What is the proper length for a motorcycle pant?

My preference is too long, since when riding you bend the knee and it effectively shortens the inseam by at least an inch.

Answer:
As a sportbike rider, I find longer is generally preferred. When you're on your bike, and the weather is colder/wet you will not want pants that rider higher than the mid length of your boot. When off the bike, a proper set of boots will generally keep longer pants from going too low or looking dorky. Its a good idea to look at a pant and see if there are cinches/velcroc at the ankle, and you're in good shape if it does.

The pants come with a zipper that you can sew onto a jacket. So I assume you could do it or have a tailor do it and voila the pants now zip to your jacket. Just make sure that you don't puncture the whatever waterproof membrane you have in the jacket.

Answer:
The hip pads are accessible via a velcro tab on the shell. The opening is 6". The main concern with 'upgrading' them would be the shape of most CE hip armor not matching its shape. You would have to modify the armor or mesh it in some way with the existing armor to keep it in place.

When I went down in this gear my hip did get a minor bruise while tumbling at 35mph only where the pads were not present toward the back of my hip bones. So they worked enough for me in my low side.

I have included an image of the stock padding to give you an idea of the pocket shape (on 12" tile), and it is a very tight fit. I would guess the pocket could be slightly smaller than the pad as well since it tends to naturally cup when you put it in. The pad is facing outward as it would curl up if I didn't hold it this way as it has conformed to my hips over 10,000 miles of riding.

Answer:
These pants are meant to fit as a standard pant, but if you order a size larger, they can be worn as an over-pant. They are a bit cumbersome to take on and off over street clothes and boots since the side zipper does not go all the way up to the waist.

Answer:
These pants can be worn over street clothes, so long as you get the right size (they run slightly small, so if you are a 30 waist, get a medium/large ect.) As for being able to remove these pants once you reach your destination, you will probably need to remove boots. The leg zipper is only ankle-length, making regular size boots very hard to pull through the rest of the pant.

Riding boots probably not, but especially if you take out one of the liners you can slide these over pants (as long as the pants aren't too baggy or bulky). I wear mine over medical scrub pants and skinny Levi's pretty frequently.

Answer:
They will definitely go over boots (I have Sidi Adventures). Pants shouldn't really be a problem either, at least not with the liners removed. The cold weather liners make a pretty big difference in the fit, but I'm guessing you'd still be okay.

Answer:
They really work best if you don't have jeans on and can't be removed while wearing boots.

Answer:
The REV'IT! Sand pants have three layers, the outer shell with abrasion resistance and armor, the waterproof liner, and the thermal liner. As long as the waterproof liner is installed you are good to go, however, without it the outer shell has no water resistance properties.

Answer:
There is a separate waterproof liner. I've worn them both with and without the liner, and it adds negligible bulk. I haven't worn them in the summer with the liner in so I can't say how well they breathe, but the material is nice enough that I wouldn't expect you to get too swampy. Same for the jacket, by the way. And I really like both.

Answer:
The rain liner is built into the pants and sold together with the pants (and an insulation liner). The outer shell of the pants is only resistant to rain, but with anything other than a light rain water will soak through the outer shell. With the rain liner installed they are effectively waterproof when riding.

Answer:
Their second liner is the waterproof one (third being the insulation liner), and the base pant itself is not fully waterproof.

The pants come with two separate zip out liners, a thermal liner and a waterproof liner, both of which can be taken out individually.

Yes, there is. Pants, waterproof liner, thermal liner, in that order. Easy to put in and take out.

Answer:
They have a thin waterproof breathable liner that zips in at the waist and hem. There is also an insulated liner that I haven't used yet. They are quite breathable without the liner and are in no way water resistant. I might add a little shower on a hot day feels great due to the evaporative effect...at least here in New Mexico.

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements.  REV'IT! sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chestwidth: Measure from under/top of armpit cross chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
