Reevu MSX1 Helmet High Visibility

The world's first rear-view helmet!  Reevu has been the industry leader in rear view technology with their patented mirror system, manufactured from a reflective polycarbonate material rather than glass! The polycarbonate material is almost impossible to break, weighs less than glass and provides additional safety and comfort to the rider. The mirror system essentially bends the light around the shell of the helmet, offering a clear view of what's behind. The Reevu System works just like a car's rear view mirror offering awareness of the road ahead and behind without making a conscious effort as both are simultaneously in your field of view.

  • Patented rear-view technology
  • Tri-composite carbon fibreglass, Kevlar and synthetic hi-tenacity advanced fibre shell
  • Fully removable and washable liner
  • Anti-fog face shield
  • The Reevu Mobility Program gives the rider  an opportunity to replace their Reevu helmet that has been damaged in a crash with a new one at just 1/2 of the price

LOVE the mirror, rest is ok. I've been waiting to get a replacement for my 2009 HJC CL-SP for a while, so decided to pull the trigger on the REEVU MSX1. First off, I absolutely LOVE the mirror. I've had it for 2 weeks or so and it took a couple of rides for me to get really comfortable with it. But now I can't imagine riding without it. I've heard others ask why you need it. Basically, I use the mirror how you'd use the center/rearview mirror in a car. It's great for keeping an eye out for where other traffic is with just a quick glance. Just like the center mirror in the car, you still need to use the side mirrors and turn your head (especially when changing lanes). However, it's a handy tool to let you get info about your surroundings quickly. Now, the rest of the helmet is only ok. The mirror is actually not quite aligned on my helmet. It's a degree or so off left, so I need to turn my head just a degree or so to the left in order to see "straight back". Given the wide angle of view, it's not a big deal, but it's a bit of an annoyance. Others have commented that the helmet is hot, and I concur. On a summers day in Northern California, when I put the helmet on with my glasses or sunglasses, my breath will start fogging up the glasses (this isn't a problem while moving obviously). Also, I like the ratcheting buckle mechanism, but the buckle is too close to my adams apple, so it rubs a bit. Lastly, the chin bar seems awfully close so my chin just barely fits without touching the chin bar. If it were half a centimeter farther towards the tip of my chin, it'd be fine. All in all, I love the helmet even through its shortcomings. The mirror really is amazing. I mentioned the center/rearview mirror in a car, and that's how I feel now when riding it. It's similar to driving a car without a center/rearview mirror and driving a car with one. August 24, 2015
Great concept, so-so execution After a few months of owning and riding in this helmet every day, I feel it is time for a review. At first, this helmet was like a holiday romance, it was great. But after that initial phase, the gripes started to become more prominent issues that couldn't just be written off as the usual "you get what you pay for". At the price point of this helmet some of its issues are understandable and others are inexcusable. Likes: Mirror System- easy to use and works. Style- while not the flashiest or coolest looking helmet, it still looks pretty good #looks even better with a mirrored visor# Comfort- fairly comfortable as it's not heavy and fits great Visor- love the ease of removal and replacement with the quick release system. Quick release chin strap- self explanatory. Dislikes: Opening the box- there was no paperwork regarding info about a warranty program or anything like that, so unless you decided to visit their website for fun, then you would have potentially missed the window to get it registered for the warranty just like I did :# Mirror System- at the price of this helmet, you don't want things falling apart. After only a few months the bolts and nuts holding the mirror assembly inside the shell are starting to fall out literally right in front of my eyes #already lost 2 nuts and 1 bolt#. This should not be happening after only a few months. Eventually the mirror will just fall out and make the shell just an overpriced helmet with the features and quality of a $150 helmet. Airflow- as others have mentioned, the airflow is subpar for this price point. Visor- overall the visor is fine, but it doesn't seal against the rubber when closed fully so not only are dust, water etc. not sealed out properly, but it creates an annoying space for air to get in where you don't want it, blasting you in the eyes and drying them out #I feel for the users of contact lenses# Noise- this helmet is effing loud Aerodynamics- in the touring upright position the buffeting is almost nonexistent even while head checking, but in any more aggressive position it becomes much more noticeable and somewhat annoying/uncomfortable. Cheek pads- although comfortable, my left cheek pad just won't stay put. The plastic that holds the pad into the shell of the helmet always seems to work its way out and the cheek pad just moves out from the shell causing it to drop down a little and rub on my jacket when I'm tucked #3/4 or full#, thus resulting in the wicking material being worn away from the constant rubbing. The right cheek pad has no issues like this whatsoever. All in all, the helmet is okay. I recommend it simply because the mirror system #as long as it doesn't fall apart# helps a lot. But besides that, I can't recommend it at its current price point for the reasons stated above. September 10, 2015
Overall Impressions The product arrived ahead of schedule. Revzilla staff was helpful as well as knowledgeable. DHL no cost shipping from Canada. - The helmet had a wonderful finish. Not a Shoei but not at that same price point. I was impressed with the paint and clear coat. One small imperfection in the paint but not noticeable without extreme scrutiny. - Fit was about average with a round oval feel. About like my other helmets. I usually wear a medium and the MSX-1 fit great. Head measurement is right at 23". I ordered a medium instead of the large as directed by Reevu's sizing chart. I like a snug fit and the MSX-1 fit true. Interior pads are very comfortable and seem to be made of quality materials. - Mirror adjustment was straight forward. However, no materials or owners manual that illustrated the best method of adjustment - Two rides with the MSX-1. As noted by everyone, the airflow is less than my other full face helmet. I'm a Texas rider so the airflow is an issue but not a deal breaker. - Nice forward field of vision. The rear view system provides a great horizontal field of view. The vertical field is limited; this would be my only negative critique. Bottom line, the rear view system is much better than I had expected. - Conclusion: I don't think I will ever buy another helmet without a rear view system. Bravo Reevu ! August 31, 2015
i love it I have been using the helmet for a few months. It takes a while to adjust to the mirror. It does get a little warm. It's soft and fits really good. The mirror is a big help. I ride with no mirrors on my r6 so its something I needed. If anything happens to the one I have now, I would definitely buy another one. This helmet is awesome. Thanks revzilla! July 12, 2015
Great city helmet for commuting Great concept. Pretty well executed for a city helmet. Not as comfortable as my Arai, but works well in the office commute. May 11, 2015
Love seeing behind me In riding a sports bike I done all manner of fiddling with my mirrors to be able to see behind me, none have worked. I resort to looking under my arm, rarely, leaving me blind most of the time. This helmet handles the blind spot and I can now check my six as easily as in my car. While this is an overall good helmet there are some things about it that need a bit of improvement. The airflow is not as good as other helmets that I've used and the visor is quite foggy and I live in a dry climate. May 11, 2015
Great idea, poor execution. I really wanted to like this helmet (considering how much helmets cost), but the build quality is just so lacking. It feels like you can snap off the vent switches easily, the ratcheting mechanism for the chin strap feels flimsy and releases a little too effortlessly to give a sense of security, and the rear view shield looks like it just barely fits. And then there's the mirror! What's the point of having a rearview mirror that never seems to hold its position after you've spent an eternity adjusting it so that you can see behind you? There's an adjusting screw that's apparently just for show because simple actions such as donning and removing the helmet, quick head movements and sometimes really bumpy roads move the mirror just enough to render it useless until you can adjust it again. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to fiddle with the thing mid-ride. Of course, it's not all bad. The helmet is fairly comfortable. Forward visibility and general noise levels are acceptable. The styling is pretty good considering the helmet houses an arrangement of mirrors while managing to fit on your head. The face shield is easy to remove and reattach. Overall, I think it's just a shame it couldn't have all of the good points and also manage to feel like something that would actually protect your head. And it's even worse that the mirror system - the key reason people even consider purchasing the Reevu- does what it's supposed to but nowhere near as good as you had hoped after hearing all of the hype. If they could greatly improve the design then I would gladly pay Arai prices or higher. The alternative would be to pick up one of the new Skully helmets, but those things are hideous. April 28, 2015
Not Just a helmet. Couldn't believe the difference this makes to a ride.. I had a good friend he has been telling me to get one and eventually I gave up on my Shoei... What a difference this helmet makes.. Its an invention that is so much more than anything I can say on this page.. Trying it on the road is a must, as I didn't get it until I did.. Amazing!!!! allanoue: Get 6" way from any mirror and look at stuff behind you. It is not a problem. Objects less then a foot away are fuzzy for me also. I have had this helmet for 1 1/2 years. Aug 27, 2012
