Reevu MSX1 Helmet High Visibility

The world's first rear-view helmet!  Reevu has been the industry leader in rear view technology with their patented mirror system, manufactured from a reflective polycarbonate material rather than glass! The polycarbonate material is almost impossible to break, weighs less than glass and provides additional safety and comfort to the rider. The mirror system essentially bends the light around the shell of the helmet, offering a clear view of what's behind. The Reevu System works just like a car's rear view mirror offering awareness of the road ahead and behind without making a conscious effort as both are simultaneously in your field of view.

Features:

  • Patented rear-view technology
  • Tri-composite carbon fibreglass, Kevlar and synthetic hi-tenacity advanced fibre shell
  • Fully removable and washable liner
  • Anti-fog face shield
  • The Reevu Mobility Program gives the rider  an opportunity to replace their Reevu helmet that has been damaged in a crash with a new one at just 1/2 of the price

replace rear shield
I love this helmet. Could never go back to a traditional helmet. I would recommend replacing the rear shield with a clear shield and face shield with a tinted or mirrored shield. It increased my rear view by 30%.

great helmet!
been using this helmet since March 2013, I live in hot weather (tropica) land, Borneo. from my view, it's doesn't take long to get use to those rear view, few hour ride is enough or 1 day the most. it's just like you looking on side mirror whenever you want to look what's behind you or want to change lane, but not require much head tilt.. just keep the view level with the road behind and I can see everything behind me, more than what I can see in side mirror. i'm no longer use my side mirror as reference whenever I want to look what's behind me or when I want to change my lane. it's much easier with Reevu helmet. in fact, my side mirror folded all the time as I don't require it anymore. somehow, I still do head turn just for precaution.

most people say image shown is not as clear as what we've seen in glass mirror, it's VERY TRUE. Though it's not as clear as compared to mirror, it's at least give me maybe 85-95 percent of glass mirror quality. I can see clearly what kind of car's behind me. just have no time to check their plate number as I looking at rear view just for slight moment, or less than 2 second.. enough info for me to know what's behind

comfortable; well, this helmet fit my head perfectly. My head circumference is about 59.5 and I order LARGE size by just referring only the size chart they provide and measure my head circumference base on what they put on their website. ventilation is quite good, the only time I had to slightly open my visor is at the stop light (it's 33-35 digree C here during the day-whole year) but that's the only time I had to crack open the visor, just for easy breathing. during ride, no problem with visor fully closed.

noise level is not an issue at all for me. I don't hear any whistling noise so far. Weight? it's about 300grams heavier than AGV GPtech (1.5kg) where Reevu is about 1.8kg, not a big issue to me either.

I won't change or use any other helmet anymore unless it has the same tech Reevu had. It's much fun to ride with this helmet on and know who's exactly behind you when you're on group ride. Will get FSX1 (modular) in the future :)

Love it +++++ I'd be afraid to ride in any other helmet.
I just got my first street bike after about 5 years of riding dirt bikes casually. I'm an amateur bodybuilder, about 235 lbs and with the extra inches my armored jacket adds to my already wide shoulders I really can't see much in my side mirrors. I'm using this REEVU mirror waaaay more than the side mirrors and I couldn't imagine riding without it. A quick scan lets me see everything behind me in every lane. I do wish it shipped with the clear rear screen, the silver one that it comes with distorts colors slightly almost like the colors in an oil spill, this rear screen seems a little too dark also. I'll probably get the clear screen soon. Overall I would definitely recommend this helmet. I'm never gonna ride without a rear-view capable helmet after depending so much on this one.

Does what it say.
Helmet fits true to size. Every helmet is different. Have to wear a large in TORQ helmets. My hat measurements in most helmets suggest I wear a XL but TORQ XL was huge. Was going to order a L in this helmet but after trying on NOLAN, SHOEI and HJC at a look motorcycle shop I knew that a large would be too small. Would fit but would probably be painful. Rear view system works. Not HD but does let you see what is behind you. Would recommend this helmet. Quieter that the TORQ but it is a modular.

Great protection, great features, awesome helmet
I just got into my first wreck after 7 years of safe riding. I guess I took a turn a little too fast (30 didn't seem too fast at the time..), lost tracking in the turn and slammed into the side of the mountain I was riding up on route 89 in Arizona near Prescott. The impact shattered part of the front rim, tore off both the clutch and the brake reservoirs and rear view mirrors, and of course screwed up the front of the bike. I hit the rock with my Reevu helmet and my left shoulder. I sprained my shoulder but I didn't even have a headache thanks to this helmet! This helmet definitely saved my life and I already ordered a new one to replace the old one. So as far as protection goes, I know this is a great helmet. For comfort I also think its great - great air flow in the summer (115+ here in Phoenix) and the bit of fabric under your chin keeps you warm when its cooler out (50 is pretty much the coldest it gets during the day here). Thanks Revzilla for carrying a great product, and thanks Reevu for saving my head!

LOVE the mirror, rest is ok.
I've been waiting to get a replacement for my 2009 HJC CL-SP for a while, so decided to pull the trigger on the REEVU MSX1.

First off, I absolutely LOVE the mirror. I've had it for 2 weeks or so and it took a couple of rides for me to get really comfortable with it. But now I can't imagine riding without it.

I've heard others ask why you need it. Basically, I use the mirror how you'd use the center/rearview mirror in a car. It's great for keeping an eye out for where other traffic is with just a quick glance. Just like the center mirror in the car, you still need to use the side mirrors and turn your head (especially when changing lanes). However, it's a handy tool to let you get info about your surroundings quickly.

Now, the rest of the helmet is only ok. The mirror is actually not quite aligned on my helmet. It's a degree or so off left, so I need to turn my head just a degree or so to the left in order to see "straight back". Given the wide angle of view, it's not a big deal, but it's a bit of an annoyance.

Others have commented that the helmet is hot, and I concur. On a summers day in Northern California, when I put the helmet on with my glasses or sunglasses, my breath will start fogging up the glasses (this isn't a problem while moving obviously). Also, I like the ratcheting buckle mechanism, but the buckle is too close to my adams apple, so it rubs a bit.

Lastly, the chin bar seems awfully close so my chin just barely fits without touching the chin bar. If it were half a centimeter farther towards the tip of my chin, it'd be fine.

All in all, I love the helmet even through its shortcomings. The mirror really is amazing. I mentioned the center/rearview mirror in a car, and that's how I feel now when riding it. It's similar to driving a car without a center/rearview mirror and driving a car with one.

I wear corrective contact lenses. The closest I can see a sharp image is a foot away. Will I be able to see the mirrored image sharply??
A shopper on Aug 2, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Get 6" way from any mirror and look at stuff behind you. It is not a problem. Objects less then a foot away are fuzzy for me also. I have had this helmet for 1 1/2 years.
