Powerlet Micro USB Direct to Battery Harness
Stopped working after a year
I originally bought this because I wanted to power a phone/GPS mounted to my handle bars. I thought it would be cheaper than putting in a PowerLet port, and I was right. Unfortunately, the little plastic cap for the micro USB connector is easy to lose, and the connector started to corrode very quickly. I didn't think it would be such an issue since I keep my bike under cover, but I guess it doesn't take much humidity to corrode the connector.
After 6 months it would kind of work if you pulled on the connector a bit... but the intermittent/unreliable connection became a problem for my phone/GPS which kept dying on longer trips. By the one year mark I couldn't get it to work at all.
I replaced it with a handlebar-mounted Powerlet port and RAM mount combo. First thing I noticed when installing was that the Powerlet port has a MUCH thicker cable going to the battery. There is also a flip-up cover to protect the Powerlet port itself. You have to separately buy a powerlet to microUSB connector, but then you can disconnect the connector for weatherproof storage, or simply replace it without having to rewire the bike.
If you're trying to go the cheap route like I did, you might find yourself having to re-spend in a year if you buy this. I recommend spending the extra money for a permanent Powerlet port.

Was exactly what I ordered
This charging cable was easy to install and worked great at first. I purchased this cable to charge my phone during a recent trip during which it rained every night (The charger was not in direct contact with the water) on the return trip I began having issues charging. I noticed a good deal of corrosion build up on the inside of the microusb connection. I was able to clean enough off to resume charging. My only complaint is the lack of a weatherproof end for the cable.

I have two of these plugs. I installed them on both my bikes with the RokForm mount. Problem is after 3 months one stopped working. Maybe it was the rain or corrosion, but the plug doesnt come with a dsut cover. I called Revzilla and they directed me to Powerlet which says they like to take care of it.
I sent it in and got a NEW one, no questions asked. Thing is the new one seems to be a NEWER model, has an orange end and COMES with a dust cover for the plug.
SO its obvious that the first generation plug was failing due to moisture or rain (Anyone who buys this is the type of person riding thought all sorts of weather).
So my only concern is make sure when you order this you get the one with the orange plug. It sucks now since I think I need to return my other one in order to get the new plug.
Otherwise, product works great!!

Check the connections prior to installing
Good length and easy to install. Initial installation took less than 20 minutes. Plugged in my phone but alas it was not charging. After a half hour of troubleshooting I found that the middle power connector positive wire pulled out of the crimp inside the plastic housing. Removed unit and took it to work so I could repair it. I am an electronics technician so I have the tools. Inspected and soldered all the crimp connectors, reassembled and re-installed. Faster for me to do this than return product. Like I said, CHECK ALL CONNECTIONS PRIOR TO INSTALLATION!!!!

Not for Garmin GPS
I didn't look closely enough and this is a MICRO-USB not a mini USB and thus will not work with your Garmin GPS. Be warned.
