Not Apple Lightning compatible
When I plug in my phone I always get an error message that the cable is not compatible with my iPhone 5S. Powerlet replaced it once, but the new cable does not work either.

4000+ Miles, Only Regrets
I purchased the product at the end of May to power my iPhone5s with IOS7 and the latest updates. First month was 80/20 - 80% of the time it would work, 20% of the time it would take turning the bike on/off, resetting the power cable, powering the phone on and off, etc. Once you got it to work, so long as I didn't shut off the bike it would keep working. Next few thousand miles and two months it got worse and worse until the product stopped functioning completely. I received a 2nd cable brand new and it failed to function immediately, and continues to not work. I do not recommend this product in any way.

It just works
I bought this to power my iPhone 6. Plugged right into the oem BMW port and powered right up. The short is perfect for me, full range of the handle bars without any issues.

iPhone6+ not quite ready yet
Purchased the short one last year to use with my iPhone 5, and ordered another one after I broke the connector! Then I upgraded to the iPhone6+, and it started throwing an "unsupported accessory" error message on the phone and refusing to charge. I contacted the manufacturer, they are currently working on upgrading the cord's microchip to make it compatible.

Not so good
I had one of these for my iPhone 4S that didn't work reliably.
I bought another once I went to the 5S. This one does not work reliably as well either. I have to try to get it to work.
Sometime plugging it in then starting the bike works. Sometimes starting the bike then plugging it in works. I routinely get an error on my phone stating the accessory cable being used is not compatible.
The last time I had my bike serviced I had them check my electrical system to see if it was my bike. My bike checked out fine.
So I have spent about $100.00 with this company and have 2 pretty much useless cables.
2 star because I got this to work once without having to mess with it.

Worked for a month...
It worked great for about a month. Now it stops charging as soon as the engine revs. Unplugging and re plugging while the engine is off or at idle works sometimes, but it stops charging again as soon as the engine revs.

Wouldn't buy again unless they fix (the regulator?). Investing in a usb battery backup instead as this cable has left me with a dead phone more than once.

Works...sometimes
You would expect something like this to just work. Although it took all kinds of wiggling to get it to work in my 2013 BMW F800GS. It has to be in there JUST right or it there is no power to the device. It would vibrate out after 15min.

When it works it works well. Although i want to plug it in and want it to work. That is not the case.

Should have purchased the SAE connector.

May not work with iPhone5
I have several Powerlet products and have been happy with all of them. I have the dual USB plug and it works with a standard lightening Apple cable just fine. However, when I plug this cable in, a message comes up on the iPhone screen, "this is not an approved device," and the phone fails to charge. I suspect that the regulator may be stepped down too far. Pretty disappointing given the price of the cable. Haven't yet tried on my iPad, so am hoping its not a total wash.

It is the only charger I could find that was direct to lightning for my then new iPhone 5s, and short cable was perfect for a clean install. It worked for the first 3,000 miles. Then stopped working. Replacement from manufacture was quick, also lasted about 3,000 miles. Now I have thrown it out and use a different method of charging my phone (used as a GPS) while on the road.

Looked to be just what i was looking for my iPhone, all in one Cable no need to have 2 or 3 power cables to make one device work anymore, but it was not compatible with the iPhone, power output is off, i would buy it again once you get it working right.

Will this powerlet plug work on the socket by the handlebars on the 2013 Triumph Tiger 800?
CakeEater on Jun 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The short one works great with my 2014 Tiger 800. I did not have to buy anything else, just plugged right into the handlebar socket. I first ordered the long one because the short one was out of stock but had to return it because it was not charging my phone. I have a RAM mount on my handlebars that my phone sits in. I'm very happy with the short one!
