Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Kit for N104 Helmets 3.5 5 17 17
Not a great bluetooth unit I've had my B4 for several months now. I find three significant shortcomings: 1. It's difficult to connect to an iPhone. Turn it on, get the "on" beeps, get one "connected" beep, wait for the second "connected" beep. Then press and hold the loud button to connect, then up the volume so you can hear. Connection must be made from "off" for the B4. 2. The battery life is only 4-5 hours vs. 9-10 that I experienced with an Interphone F5. 3. The UBB connector for recharging is darn hard to plug into! June 15, 2013
Above average equipment with above average price. Installed inside our two N-104 Helmets easily. Nice flush fit. No wind noise or protrusions on helmet. Rear Rubber plug easily torn in half when removing it for USB/MP3 cord insertion. Be gentle! Computer program seems poor. Would not take radio station Frequency numbers, but I completed manually at the helmet. Good sounding speakers and Mic transmission very clean compared to my J&Ms. Blue tooth connection in City is lost at a distance of about 1 city block. Fast delivery with reasonable USPS charges. May 18, 2013
The B4 is a great kit! I just bought my first bluetooth kit for my Noland N-104 helmets. I found the installation to be very easy (even for the mechanically challenged). The install video found on Revilla (via YouTube) was much more helpful than the package instructions. The bluetooth device easily connected to my iPhone 5. The sound quality of my music is excellent, and the sound of incoming calls is awesome. The radio signal, however, is weak and is often "fuzzy." I'd certainly recommend this product to anyone who is looking to add bluetooth to a helmet. My wife and I really enjoy ours. March 18, 2013
Very user friendly. Great product. Easy to install. Volume is good. Sound quality is more than I've expected. Radio Show as good as any car radio.. Buttons big enough to set even with winter gloves. January 28, 2013
Easy to install and great sound. This was easy to install and using it on my bike, the people I were talking took on my bluetooth didn't even know I was riding. Good sound quality as well. December 17, 2012
Perfect fit and function! After reading many reviews I was uncertain what to expect, but all other BT units posed some sort of instalation challenge. Right out of the package, the systems looks extra small, and also extra fragile, so I took extra time to install it and even when moving as slow as I could, I was finished in less than 15 minutes. After that, I was quick to pair my iPhone and try it out, but if you turn off the B4 before starting the music, you won't be able to get it going unless you pair it again and play music from the iphone before turning off the b4. Of course that was clearly indicated in the instruction booklet. So, this is a great device, but be prepared to find trouble if you don't read your manual. It has more features and controls than what I expected, and when I hooked it up to my computer, I could set up every feature of the b4 from three easy forms that help you set up audio, volumes, radio stations presets and bluetooth info. I must also clarify that the manual expresses everythin in click, 2 second click and 4 second click, but the system has tones that hapen at 1, 2 and 4 seconds, so if you look for the tones intead of counting seconds, you'll hit the function every time. Sound clarity and volume are more than adequate and I am extremely happy they do not block external noises, so I can ride with music and still hear everything going on outside. Overall, I am very happy I decided to get the B4, and call it luck or just that I was careful, but everything worked perfectly right out of the box. September 7, 2012
Love it! This is just what I was looking for and more. Great FM radio reception. Interface with my iPhone is fabulous. I was thrilled to discover that I could not only send a text message by using Siri through my helmet, I could also have Siri read the response to me. I have not yet had the opportunity to use the intercom or bike to bike feature so can't comment on those. I've seen some complaints about volume level but I find it more than adequate. Any louder could be a serious safety issue. I have two minor complaints. 1. The on/off function could be done better. Having to hold the button for 4 seconds is a bit of a pain. I'd rather have a separate on/off switch. 2. The mini-USB port is so tiny that it is hard to see which way the plug needs to go so it is sometimes hard to plug in. Other than that, it is a great unit. I was shipped a faulty unit but once I called the service number, they were quick to trouble shoot it and had me send it in for a replacement. Turn around was quick. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants communication ability built into their helmet. August 29, 2012
Good product, just don't like helmet speakers At speed, any helmet is very loud, and this is no exception. At the volume levels necessary to hear, this is just not comfortable to listen to. Does what it says it will. August 20, 2012

I'm thinking of buying this B4 for overseas use.
Could any one knows what is the radio spectrum, say 87.5 to 108.0 MHz, for this Nolan B4??

Also, what is the multiples for each frequency steps? eg. 87.5, 87.6, 87.7..... (Like UK) OR 88.0, 88.2, 88.4, 88.6 .... (Like US)??

Answer:
This system does not allow for the user to attach their own ear buds as the speakers are hard wired into the unit with no auxiliary output plug. If you need the ability to use ear buds, we would recommend looking at the New Cardo Q3 or the Sena SMH10 (with the extra ear bud clamp kit).

trying to get info on using BMW SAT NAV IV with Nolan Ncom 104 and B4. Just ordered new GS 1200 LC and wanted to know if there is full functionality between BMW GPS and Nolan helmet. BMW have their own software in the unit for using the toggle wheel on the bike and my main concern is to hear voice commands from GPS to helmet as well as having the full functionality of the integration with BMW bike. Help !!!!

I ride a LOT at speeds of 80+ with a lot of wind noise, and always wear ear plugs; and my biggest complaint with most systems (especially BlueTooth systems) is that they're not LOUD enough. Even the Sena SMH10, which got high ratings and one of its strong points was supposedly volume, I could barely hear on my desert crossing rides. I use an Autocom system with an inline amplifier and that does fine; but once again I'm hoping that this will finally be the system that lets me cut the wires. Is it?

Answer:
The Nolan N-Com B4 Bluetooth Kit for Nolan N104 Helmets provides an excellent volume and sound quality. However the Cardo Scala Rider G9 and the Sena SMH-10 will offer a much higher audio quality.

Also, please note that perceived noise levels will vary depending on the individual. Noise can be caused by many factors, including helmet fit; the type of motorcycle and windscreen; wind speed and direction and even the type of clothing that is being worn.

I don't believe so. From what I read about these systems, they all pretty much will only communicate with those of the same brand. I am not an expert by any means, but I did do a lot of reading before I settled on the Ncom and don't recall any brand that would communicate with a different brand.

Answer:
Sadly no. The software is windows only. I had to bower a Windows laptop to change the settings. But once you have done that, you shouldn't need to do it again. If you have BootCamp on your Mac with Windows, you should be able to do it. There are not a lot of settings to change, mainly I wanted it to set the FM stations that I wanted. So you can certainly use it without connecting it to a computer, just may have trouble finding the FM station you want.

Answer:
About 8 hours, but that may depend on usage. I bought a USB power port for my bike so that I can charge it while riding. Check out the Tapp Lite USB Power Ports. They make a generic one that will fit on any bike and ones specifically for bikes that have power ports, like those on BMWs. I have a BMW but chose to get the generic one because it was cheaper and had a longer cable so that I could mount it just about any where. The USB cable that comes with the 104B is only about 3 feet long though so you have to mount your power port close enough. I put mine just behind my seat.
