Commander II first impression
Installed a week ago, much smoother and more comfortable than original equipment tires, can't say about wet traction or tread life.
Like them so far, about to go on a 4k mile trip so that will really tell the tale!

great tire
replaced the original dunlop with michelin. only have a few hundred miles on it but so far i,\'m very pleased have michelins on my cars, if these wear like the car tires i 'll b extremely happy. terrible mileage out of the dunlops

A great choice for my R1200 CLC
I spent a couple of months reading reviews of the Commander II and the Metzler alternative, plus some others. My choice was made on the following:
I really prefer the profile of the 130/90-16 over my old, fat Bridgestone 150/80. I wanted a good load rating and this reinforced Michelin exceeded all the competition for my application. In addition, this tire was significantly lower cost, to my surpise.
I have been able to make a number of one-hour runs over familiar roads and one 100-mile trip with a passenger. The handling upgrade is substantial in that this tire will respond much more easily at highway speeds and especially at low speeds. Those tar strips on secondary roads are no longer something to be feared. Now, I barely am aware of any negative input from them. Picking a path through tight situations is much more relaxed and precise.
I do not yet have any wet experience, but expect it to be at least as good as the Bridgestone, which, admittedly was old and running out of tread.
In short, I have experienced improvement in handling, responsiveness, confidence, appearance and my checkbook and I can recommend the Commander II for this application whole-heartedly. And, yes, it does seem to run quieter than the larger, worn-out Bridgestone.

Excellent tire
I have an 07 Electra Glide Classic I replaced both tires I can safely say I enjoy the difference in ride, better handling ,smooth ride and I still can't get over how easily my bike responses ,definitely will be getting the same tires when it is time to replace them peace.

20,000 miles...
I commute 90 miles round trip to and from work. This is hands down the best high mileage tire ever! I actually hit 20k miles on a rear tire.

First impressions Michelin Commander II

Great tire
So far I love these tires. I bought front and rear and haven't put that many miles on them yet, haven't got to ride in the rain, thats why I have it a good rating for tread life and wet traction, but the ride is un matched to the stock tires I had on my harley. Would I buy another set? Yes as of now, and revzilla is top notch on there shipping, got both tires in 2 days, very happy with both.

A promising product
I do not have enough experience with these tires to write a comprehensive review. I purchased them because they came highly recommended by family and a mechanic. I can say this after a few rides: I really like the way the tires track, the way they transition from one side to the other during radical maneuvering (done at low speed to evaluate grip and handling), and the way they soak up harsh bumps. Road adhesion seems quite good. Time will tell if tread life is as good as advertised, but I am rapidly gaining confidence in the tires.

All motorcycle tires should be installed by a qualified trained professional. There are too many factors and various applications to make a generalized statement. Tire manufacturers have a set tolerance that tires must meet with regard to rotational balance. Most modern tires have a balance dot on them, which should be aligned with the valve stem. Only a qualified technician with the proper equipment can make the decision that further balancing is needed, or not needed, of the completed rotating assembly.3 months ago

The 2001 Heritage Softail OEM recommended tire size is the MT90B16(130/90B16) and the 2003 and newer Heritage Softail increased the rim size which increased the recommended tire size to 150/80B-16. Both tires are suitable for 2 up riding.10 months ago

The 77 designation means the tire is rated for a maximum load of 908 pounds at recommended pressure. I'm not certain of the unloaded weight of the bike, but I would take the unloaded weight (meaning, no riders), and divide it by two, then add the weight of the passengers.So, let's say the bike weighs 750-pounds without riders. That's 375-pounds per tire in load. Then lets say one rider is 200 pounds and another is 150 pounds, for a total of 400 pounds. Finally, factor in the weight of gear (jackets, helmets, luggage, clothes, etc), and let's say that's another 20 pounds. The combined total load on the rear would then be: 375+200+150+20, or 745 pounds, so you should be within the safe range.
I wouldn't recommend you ride "at" the maximum load rating, so if real world numbers are higher than the example from above, you'll want to give it careful thought.

The Michelin Commander II's are all Tubeless tires which can be run with a tube for spoked wheel applications. The Commander II's come in both Radial and Bias Ply depending on the size of the tire and both are Tubeless tires than can be used with a tube if needed for a spoked wheel application.11 months ago

It depends on the size of the tire. Michelin has a fitment guide that lists all of the weight ratings for the Commander II based on sizes on their website. It's a PDF document. For example, the 140/90-16 tire (common on most Harleys) is rated as a "77" which means it's good for 908 pounds at recommended PSI.If you search Google for "michelin weight rating motorcycle tire" you should see the PDF document appear in the first or second search result.

Currently, Michelin do not offer the Commander II tire in a 120/80-17 fitment only a 120/90 B17 and Michelin do not recommend as a replacement for 120/80. We hope this helps you with your decision.10 months ago

On my 2010 Harley Davidson Fatboy I was worried about the handling and feel of a mixed stock Dunlop on the front and the Michelin Commander II on the rear but I feel no problems in the bikes performance after 400 miles.If you search the internet you will get mixed answers. I asked the Harley Davidson dealer and one tech guy said it was ok to mix and another tech guy said he would never mix brands.

Go to the Michelin website and check out the reviews and tire info. This comes in a wide range of sizes and use applications. I too was tired of buying new rubber every summer. I did a lot of research and found this to be the best cruiser tire on the market right now. The rest are fair to good, but nowhere near the price.
