Michelin Commander 2 Front Tires

Peformance Features:

  • Unrivaled tire life; Michelin tests with a Harley-Davidson® Electra Glide® Classic prove a Michelin® Commander® II is capable of covering up to 40,000 kilometers (Almost 25,000 miles).  The Michelin® Commander® II creates a new standard in regards to durability, without making compromises in wet weather grip, maneuverability or stability
  • Silica Rain Technology integrates silica into the compound of the tire tread in order to prevent all forms of uneven wear
  • The exclusive architecture of the Michelin® Commander® II brings both maneuverability and stability. The tire’s rigid, high-density carcass improves maneuverability, while the aramid fiber crown ply of the rear tire enhances resistance and lightness for impeccable stability, even at high speeds
  • Numerous longitudinal grooves of the tire's tread pattern optimize water dispersal for outstanding wet weather grip
  • Independent tests show that the Michelin® Commander® II rear tire lasts almost twice as long its main competitors, the Metzeler ME 880 and the Dunlop D407/408.

Technological Features:

  • Amplified Density Technology: A highly dense, more-rigid tire casing, which helps deliver excellent feedback and handling
  • Aramid tread plies on the rear tire resist centrifugal growth, reduce weight and provide excellent stability
  • Improved rubber compounds for remarkable wet grip, without compromising durability
  • Square bead wires improve casing rigidity, handling and ease of installation

Styling Features:

  • Unique tread pattern for head-turning looks
  • Premium sidewall treatment complements cruiser styling

Well, it is round The tire was a replacement for a punctured and plugged tire that came on the bike when I bought it years ago. So far, only about 1300 miles on it, but it is holding up well, still looks pretty new considering the state of New York City's roads. It is mounted on an '83 KZ750 Twin, and I think it makes a difference. This tire has taken the varied surfaces (pavement, concrete, gigantic holes in the ground, raised metal plates, grated bridges and glass) of NYC and given me nothing but steady grip. I have been caught out in the rain a few times, heading over the patchy bridges with traffic and always felt stable. I would put this on your bike, I am happy with this tire. November 16, 2015
Amazing front tire My original front tire i had on my Yamaha bolt was terrible it would shake at around 75mph. I got it check multiple times and it was balanced and tire pressure was correct it was just a bad tire. After putting this tire on my bike and riding on it for about 1,000 miles it has been night and day difference its amazing smooth riding great cornering. No complaints at all would defiantly recommend it to anybody. September 28, 2015
Will probably go back to Dunlap after these. 2000 miles so far. Chose the Commander II's for the milage reviews. Some users got over 20K mi. First 100 miles on my Ultra Limited found them to be pretty slick. Had some exiting power drifts in the twistys. Then uphill on hwy 16 West of San Antonio during a moderate rain, the rear was spinning out at about 65 mph. That was interesting for sure. With about 500 mi on them, crossing in to NM, picked up a piece of steel in the rear and went flat. Had a fix-a-flat kit and help from fellow biker/stranger and was back on the road in 30 min. So far so good Just put it on.Will know about the miles i get later.. November 2, 2015
nice product Overall great so far. easy to mount nice sidewall for heavy bike applications, cruisers and Harleys. tire wear should be way better than Dunlop. October 19, 2015
Nice ride and good grip and handling in the dry, treacherous in the wet I'm using these tires on my 2009 Road King. They give a very nice, cushy ride and grip well in the dry. But they grip very poorly on wet roads and will slip and slide on painted lines and manhole covers even without any throttle input, and will even break traction on plain wet tarmac if you're not careful with the gas. This is surprising considering how well the Anakee 3s grip in the wet. While I really enjoy the ride and handling of these tires in the dry -- better than the OEM Dunlops -- I won't be buying them again due to their poor wet weather performance. October 16, 2015
Great pruduct Great tire for the price love it so far hope it last. September 1, 2015
Michelin has the best line up of tires period I have had several different tires, none come close to a michelin. Tread life and weather handling are the deciding factors for me. August 31, 2015

John R: I replaced the stock tires on my 2010 Fat Boy, 2009 Sportster XL, and 2008 Ultra Classic with the Commander II. I LOVE these tires. 1.5-2 times the life of stock tires. Comfortable ride. Feels more aggressive in the curves. More confidence in wet riding conditions. They feel slightly stiffer at slow speed turning or turning while sitting still, but well worth the trade off in my opinion. Jan 2, 2015

A shopper asked: I am replacing tires on my 2010 H.D Heritage Classic. FLSTC I want to replace the Dunlop with Michelin Commander 2. The rear tire is on the fit guide 150/80/16 71H. But the front tire does not have one listed for this bike with the exact specs.
Currently I have been running Dunlop 402 (MT 90/16 72H) my question is which Michelin Commander tire is right for the front?
The last # (72H) is different in the guide for Michelin. I'm not really sure what the 72H means.
I really want these tires but I don't want to screw up.

Mason M: I used matched set and love them the size seem to match my old dunlaps but the front tire tread seemed backward to the direction shown for mounting them forward. Never the less I mounted the direction it said and hadn't had a problem with them on dry or wet roads. My bike Virgo 1100. I can't remember the sizes off the top of my head. Hope this helps! Paul C: I have no idea. When I purchased mine, there was an exact match for what I had on the bike. I think you'll have to ask a representative from Michelin. All I can tell you is that I really like the tires. (Sorry I can't be more help.) Jun 26, 2015

A shopper asked: I like what the Michelin Commander II promises and want a set except that they only make a size to fit the rear of my 03 Vulcan Nomad. What would be a good front match for this tire? Apr 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael D: I ride a Yamaha Roadliner and was told not to mix brands of tires. To get the Michelin Commander II tires on my bike I had to go to a 200 radial tire while using a 130-70-18 bias ply Michelin Commander II front tire. 6,000 miles later the combination works well. If you can get a Michelin Commander II in other than and OEM size to fit your Nomad, that would likely work well.

P.S. The Michelins are far superior to the original Dunlops and replacement Bridgestones I had on the bike.

A shopper asked: Hey guys, I'm trying to find a 120/80-17 tubeless Commander II. I've only found the 120/90. Do they make it in the 80? I've looked at other sites and can't find it. Thanks for your help! Mar 16, 2012

RevZilla: Currently, Michelin do not offer the Commander II tire in a 120/80-17 fitment only a 120/90 B17 and Michelin do not recommend as a replacement for 120/80. We hope this helps you with your decision. Jul 13, 2012

geekysteve: Unfortunately, it doesn't appear so. The 2012 Michelin tire catalog shows only a 120/90 as available in the Commander II. Jul 12, 2012

A shopper asked: my tire size is 100/90-19 is this tire suitable? I don't know what the B or 57H stands for. I ride a 1978 Honda CB 750 Jul 23, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Paul B: This tire is suitable for your bike. B simply means BIAS. That's the layering and making of the tire. R is for Radial. Tires comes in B or R. (Bias or Radial). 57 H is the load capacity and maximum rated speed. Check out understanding motorcycle tires on YouTube. This tire will last longer than the regular tires. So go ahead and buy it. You should be rest assured that you can not go wrong with Revzilla backing you up. NB: Revzilla is not paying me a fee nor do I have any personal interest in the company. I am just giving you an honest review based on my experience with the company. Jul 23, 2015

Kurtis C: I have a pair on a Sportster set up for mountain and canyon roads. I have worn them to the edge of the tread so I would say they work fine. For calibration, I also have a Super Duke and have been to Keith Code's school, so I understand cornering. Apr 13, 2015

A shopper asked: I have a 2012 Victory Vision, the front tire is 130-70-R18 - 63H, the rear is 180-60-R16 80H. I would like to get the Michelin Commander 2 tires. They have 130-70-B18 63H for the front and they have 180-65-B16-81H for the rear.

My question is, can I go with the 65 instead of the 60 for the rear and can I use the bias instead of the radial ( which is better)?

A shopper asked: I'm looking to change over from my Metzler 880's to the Commander II's.
I currently run the Metzler's as:
Rear - 200/50ZR 17 14
Front - 120/70 - 21 M/C
Can you suggest the proper size in the Commander II's?
Much appreciated.

Scott C: I am prety sure th -19 is the wheel size as is the -21 I would NOT recomend for any person to use a tire diameter larger than the wheel diameter. In this sinereo in america you would have a difference of two inches. Your tire install technician should not concider performing this task. The commander II is a Great tire choice though. Robert S: I would not mismatch my tires. I had the same as you, did not like the feel on the corners. I bought two commanders , went out west down south with no problems,
handle corners great. I've got over ten thousand miles on them and I believe I can get another ten . Hope this helps, great tires

JAMES T: I have the commanders on my 2005 Ultra and love them. They ride fantastic and are still like new 4k later. On the size Revzilla should be able to answer this or call your local Harley Dealer. Feb 15, 2014
