Michelin Commander 2 Front Tires

Peformance Features:

  • Unrivaled tire life; Michelin tests with a Harley-Davidson® Electra Glide® Classic prove a Michelin® Commander® II is capable of covering up to 40,000 kilometers (Almost 25,000 miles).  The Michelin® Commander® II creates a new standard in regards to durability, without making compromises in wet weather grip, maneuverability or stability
  • Silica Rain Technology integrates silica into the compound of the tire tread in order to prevent all forms of uneven wear
  • The exclusive architecture of the Michelin® Commander® II brings both maneuverability and stability. The tire’s rigid, high-density carcass improves maneuverability, while the aramid fiber crown ply of the rear tire enhances resistance and lightness for impeccable stability, even at high speeds
  • Numerous longitudinal grooves of the new tire's tread pattern optimize water dispersal for outstanding wet weather gri
  • Independent tests show that the Michelin® Commander® II rear tire lasts almost twice as long its main competitors, the Metzeler ME 880 and the Dunlop D407/408.

Technological Features:

  • Amplified Density Technology: A highly dense, more-rigid tire casing, which helps deliver excellent feedback and handling
  • Aramid tread plies on the rear tire resist centrifugal growth, reduce weight and provide excellent stability

Great handling and stability improvement! I have a 2001 Harley Road King that has only had the proprietary Harley Dunlops on it prior to these. What a difference Michelin made, feels like a different bike! Pavement grooves and tar strips are no longer an attention getting problem, great stability at all speeds. July 8, 2014
Great tire for cruising/touring bikes I went against my local HD dealer's advice and bought this Michelin tire for my 2005 XL1200C. The dealer strongly pushes the stock Dunlop's to the point where they refuse to install other tire brands that are carried in by customers! It turns out that they did me a favor as I brought the wheel and tire to a Japanese motorcycle dealer down the road and got it installed for much less... :) I have none of the tracking issues that I experienced with the stock Dunlop. It goes where I point it, rather than following grooves in the pavement. To my amazement turn-in is reduced coming off of exit ramps as well. I actually had to counter-steer the bike when leaning into a turn with the old tire. Feels much safer and more confidence inspiring. I can't speak to how well these tires would perform on a sport bike, but I think that these tires are the way to go for cruiser crowd. I plan on replacing the rear tire with a Michelin Commander II next year. I haven't ridden the bike in the rain with the new tire yet, so I can't speak to the wet traction... July 7, 2014
Love the ride and handling of these tires. I love the way my Road Glide rides and handles in wet and dry conditions with these tires. July 7, 2014
Immediate Improvement in Handling I took a leap of faith when I switched to Michelin Commanders. I had heard great things and knew they got great reviews but tire choice is really a personal decision. Once they were installed, there was no looking back! I immediately had better handling, better grip and they work great in the rain. Awesome tire! June 30, 2014
Beats OEM's hands down First set went on my HD 1200 custom. This set going on my Ultra. Awesome tires. Great wet grip and those pesky road grooves are now non-existent. Highly recommended! June 23, 2014
Great front tire at a great price! RevZilla had very competitive prices on tires and with the added TeamZilla Bucks the purchase was a no brainer. The Michelin Commander II's ride much better than the Dunlops on my 05 Sportster and handle excellent in the rain adding confidence to my every ride. The shipping was very fast. I ordered the tires on Sunday and recieved them on Tuesday. I highly recommend Revzilla to my friends. June 23, 2014
Great tires! Received these tires quickly and at a great price. Very pleased with the look and feel on the road. BIG improvement over stock tires! Drove on grooved surface recently, didn't wander like most tires do. Highly recommend the tires and RevZilla! I will be buying from them again! June 23, 2014
Now a matching set...... I've had the Commander II tire on the rear of my ride for several thousand miles now and love its ride, performance, and apparent longevity. When it came time to replace the front tire, it was a no-brainer! First blush impression of the front tire is that it has great handling and stopping characteristics. Really grabs the road on turns and in stopping. Very happy so far. May 26, 2014

richard c asked: I have a 2011 Harley Davidson Rocker C, the front tire is a Dunlap 90 / 90 - 19 MC 52H. Will the Michelin commander ll 90 / 90 - 21 54H work? Feb 15, 2014

Scott C: I am prety sure th -19 is the wheel size as is the -21 I would NOT recomend for any person to use a tire diameter larger than the wheel diameter. In this sinereo in america you would have a difference of two inches. Your tire install technician should not concider performing this task. The commander II is a Great tire choice though. Robert S: I would not mismatch my tires. I had the same as you, did not like the feel on the corners. I bought two commanders , went out west down south with no problems,
handle corners great. I've got over ten thousand miles on them and I believe I can get another ten . Hope this helps, great tires

A shopper asked: I like what the Michelin Commander II promises and want a set except that they only make a size to fit the rear of my 03 Vulcan Nomad. What would be a good front match for this tire? Apr 5, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Michael D: I ride a Yamaha Roadliner and was told not to mix brands of tires. To get the Michelin Commander II tires on my bike I had to go to a 200 radial tire while using a 130-70-18 bias ply Michelin Commander II front tire. 6,000 miles later the combination works well. If you can get a Michelin Commander II in other than and OEM size to fit your Nomad, that would likely work well.

P.S. The Michelins are far superior to the original Dunlops and replacement Bridgestones I had on the bike.

A shopper asked: Hey guys, I'm trying to find a 120/80-17 tubeless Commander II. I've only found the 120/90. Do they make it in the 80? I've looked at other sites and can't find it. Thanks for your help! Mar 16, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Currently, Michelin do not offer the Commander II tire in a 120/80-17 fitment only a 120/90 B17 and Michelin do not recommend as a replacement for 120/80. We hope this helps you with your decision. Jul 13, 2012

geekysteve: Unfortunately, it doesn't appear so. The 2012 Michelin tire catalog shows only a 120/90 as available in the Commander II. Jul 12, 2012
