Great rain jacket for on or off the bike Love this Klim rain jacket. Folds up and stores in it's own pocket. Bought mine to fiit snugly over my riding gear because This is also my go to rain jacket for all activities; hiking, camping, bicycling, traveling. Love the built in hood though it may not be welcome on the motorcycle. June 29, 2015
An OK Rain Jacket I bought this jacket thinking it would serve as an off road riding jacket. But it is NOT a riding jacket. At least not an off-road riding jacket. It could probably serve as a light duty stand-alone rain jacket for any on-road or casual use. It is cut too small to fit over any riding jacket or gear. I wear a M most the time and L some of the time. I ordered a L and it is a snug fit over a heavy shirt. The hood is nice and an elaborate attempt was made to get the hood to snug-up on the head as there are 3 ways to adjust-tighten it. But it does not roll up into the collar??? Really? Have to either wear the hood or leave it flopping around. Another reason this is more a casual jacket than a riding jacket. My opinion: If you are looking for a rain or wind jacket to stow on the bike that can be worn over riding clothes/gear get something else, there are many to choose from. If you want a nice casual wear rain jacket, this is a good one. March 27, 2015
Lightweight, totable, waterproof I have been very pleased with the purchase of this jacket. I gave slight marks off for bang for buck, because I think it could be priced a little lower, but it isn't totally out of line for a gore-tex jacket either. I also took one mark down for durability, but of course increasing durability would come at the cost of weight and packability. There are always trade-offs. The jacket is breathable, lightweight, packable and fairly tough for the low weight. It is comfortable to wear, and doesn't get clammy or make you feel too warm. The hood fits well under a helmet, preventing cold rain from sliding down your back. It is a really nice extra piece of gear to have with you, should you encounter an unexpected rain. The jacket is stylish enough, and comfortable enough to wear off the bike as well. I use it for cooler summer nights where you need a little bit of a wind breaker, or for when it is raining whenever I get to my destination. Sizing. I would say this jacket is true to size. I purchased the same size I would in other jackets and the fit is spot on. The cut is generous enough to fit over body armor, without looking too bulky over a T-Shirt. If you instead wear a padded jacket, the stow-away is really intended to be a rain-proof liner, rather than an over jacket, and works well in this regard. Not too bulky, not uncomfortable under a jacket. January 9, 2013
Nice jacket, but sized too small. Disspointed!! I just purchased this jacket in a Large. I measured everything twice and read reviews for weeks on end. Some people said to buy your clothing size as this is an over-jacket. Not true. I usually wear medium - large clothing and the Large Klim jacket barely fits me. Even without armor on. I should have got an XL. Very disappointed as I have removed the tags and also live in Australia so now I have wasted $270 dollars and don't have time or money to get a bigger one. Can't explain my disappointment enough. Don't believe the size chart. Its misleading for this jacket. Go one size bigger. :( January 2, 2013
Don't Leave Home Without A Stow Away Bought this jacket on Bob's recommendation and will be forever grateful! It's a paper thin (but tough) gor-tex shell so once you have it on - No Wind and NO WATER gets through. I rode through heavy downpours and this baby did the job beautifully. I wear a european 54 jacket and bought an XL so I could wear this comfortably over my leather. It velcros to my bars and can be grabbed and put on in 5 minutes or less. I can actually put it on and zip it without taking off my gloves. A few details to note: The sleeve opening isn't generous so if you wear gloves with a big gauntlet you may not be able to get the sleeve over the gauntlet (which I do when it rains so that the water doesn't slide down the sleeve inside the glove). I wear short gloves so not an issue for me. Also - the pit zips do a great job of letting air fly through the jacket so it's easy to leave it on if you're in a situation where it might rain again - or spotty thunderstorm kind of weather. The pit zips can be operated with gloves on and the coat on but it's not easy. Overall, I give this jacket the highest marks. It isn't cheap but you get what you pay for and then some. It also does a great job of giving you a windproof layer if it gets a little chilly- I wore a perfed leather jacket and carried this for rain/wind protection - rather than going with an adventure multi-layer and lining set up. Again, thanks Bob. This coat rocks! May 28, 2012
This is the ultimate lightweight shell for any riding condition. Since I've recieved this jacket, I've riden through rain and freezing cold with it. It has done an excellent job at keeping me warm and dry. A warm sweater under it and your ready for anything. I really enjoy the gortex hood that fits perfectly under any helmet, keeping the wind and rain off of your neck and head. My girlfriend's favorite part is the the meshless pit zips, she's been reaching her lil mits inside the jacket for symbiotic warmth. I feel it will be comfortable to wear in the spring without a sweater due to it's mesh lining. Overall, I'm styling. January 3, 2012
Klim Stow Away Not Worth the Money I bought this jacket at the end of last summer, as I've had great luck with Klim motorcycle pants. It's advertised as packable rain jacket that you can wear over your pressure suit and protective gear. I paid $199.00. Well being Klim and a very expensive jacket I thought that the quality of this jacket would be very good, well I was wrong. The second time I wore this jacket on a leisurely ride at our local riding spot it got a rip in the chest. Now Klim wants me to send it in and they may be able to patch it for $50.00 plus shipping. I say all of this to say don't buy this jacket; I would have been better off buying a $20.00 packable rain coat at Wal-Mart. Which I will do now since I don't feel like spending $250.00 + $$$$ for a jacket that should only be used for walks in the park. January 21, 2011
Super awesome! Fits well over my Alpinestars leather jacket and my slightly bulkier Shift textile jacket, but still small enough that I can wear it as a rain/wind shell off the bike. Very versatile! Front zip is fully waterproof YKK and not a drop has gotten through yet. The actual Goretex shell is very thin, so it feels a bit fragile, but that seems to be the case with any lightweight rain/wind shell. In a crash I wouldn't expect it to hold up very well.
