Great Jacket! I own the men's version and my wife owns the women's version. These are great jackets. They aren't the best in extreme hot or cold, but for everything above freezing and below boiling, you will be able to wear this comfortably. I noticed that the women's version has the additional back-side belt loops whereas the men's version only has the front loops. There are also a few other minor differences but these jackets are excellent, particularly for the days that start off chilly and end up warm by the PM commute. The style of the women's jacket is very nice and my wife definitely looks sexy in hers! When off the bike, you can take the armored inner jacket off and just wear the outer jacket for quick walks in inclement or cooler weather. Overall a great value for the money. Highly recommended. Looks and fits Great Bought this for my wife, 5'5" 120 LBS. She loves the look, fit and versatility of this jacket. We have not been in rain as of yet so cannot say about rainproof. She picked the White for the hot summer days and it will get soiled but was able to clean fairly easy. August 10, 2015
Excellent value I wanted a 4-season jacket that was in a girly color other than pink or stark white with flowers. This jacket hit all the marks and then some as I've worn it through all 4-seasons (temps low 30s through 100+) and am very happy with it. Sufficient number of pockets, 4 configurable layers for different temperatures, cinches and other adjustment features for a secure yet stylish fit. Have not had issues staying dry in heavy rain, IF I take time to stop and zip up all properly. I did forget I had the vents open once, soaked to the bone. Plus the outer layer does take a long time to dry, but when properly zipped no water seepage. My only complaints are mostly superficial: the self-storage pouch is a waste of material as the jacket doesn't fit into it, not enough reflective piping or material, the mesh jacket pockets are mesh so be careful when putting keys in them, the fit at the waist is huge but small at the hips, my hubby's jacket has an inner clip for his keys mine does not. Very pleased with this purchase!! This jacket is a great addition to my biking attire. I love the multi-layers!!! It has surpassed my expectations!!! Thanks for offering such a great jacket!!! May 19, 2015
They know you're a women. I love this jacket for many reasons. I live in Northern Foothills of Colorado and need a jacket that I can wear year round, in fair weather, and this is perfect. For the most part I am not going to be riding in temperatures below 50 degrees F, but I have tried the jacket at around 36 degrees F, and didn't notice the cold at all, with all three layers on. That same day had started at almost 80 degrees F and with only the one layer on I felt a bit chilly. Being a female in my early 20s I want to still good in safe riding gear, and this jacket shows off my curves. I got a medium and it is slight big on me, but this jacket has cinches at the waist to help it fit you perfectly. This jacket even makes me look thinner. The only thing I am not a fan of is where it hits my neck, it is a little chocking, but this is how most riding jackets are. Overall, this jacket is a great all weather jack for female riders who want to show off that they are a female rider. May 5, 2015
Perfect Fit This is the first riding jacket I've purchased so I was a bit nervous about the fit and comfort buying it online. The fit was great! And, the fact that there are three jackets in one made it an outstanding deal for a first time buyer. Revzilla's shipping was fast. The jacket arrived when promised and was very well packaged. I'll be a repeat shopper! March 30, 2015
Offers little protection I bought this jacket for my 16 yr old daughter. Unfortunately she went down and the jacket did not protect her. The sleeve rode up above her elbow and as a result she had a bad rash on her forearm and elbow. Additionally, the jacket road up to her chest as well and she suffered terrible gravel rash to her stomach. While the jacket is stylish and versatile, the most important aspect a jacket should provide is protection. However, it failed miserably in this category. As such, I must give it a one star rating and not recommend this jacket if you are looking for protection. March 22, 2015
Girlfriend loves it Got this jacket for my girlfriend based on my many years of happiness and satisfaction with the Joe Rocket brand. My girlfriend loves this jacket and mostly wears the mesh under jacket because we live in Florida and it's hot most of the time. I'm just happy I found some protection she will actually wear. This jacket fits her well and meets the measurements on the sizing page very well. She was not happy buying a large but when I explained that the bust was the main reason for the sizing she was a little more ok with it (LOL). But seriously, if you follow the sizing chart, you'll get the right size and have a safe and very comfortable ride. Excellent style, quality and fit. Most of all the ability to make this jacket transform from a winter jacket to a summer jacket is truly unique. Overall a great value and a very safe jacket. She loves it, and I love that she wears it. March 17, 2015

Amanda P: 3-in-1! I love how the windproof layer is on the outside, much less hassle for when the temps go up or down during a ride. I currently don't have my own jacket, I ride in either my brother's old Joe Rocket mesh, which is too big for me; or my mom's fake-leather jacket, which fits, but sometimes she's using it! With this I don't need to buy multiple jackets, or wonder which to wear, since I'll be able to keep the extra layers in my saddle bag. I like the style, just hope the size I picked fits. Jun 6, 2014

Julie S: I needed a new jacket and this one suits all seasons, so should be perfect for my needs. Mar 14, 2014
Dianne D: I wanted something feminine looking that had a lot of versatility. This suits me to a T. I wear this year-round, but in the winter, I do alternate with my other jackets. This one gets used almost exclusively in the summer because of the mesh layer. I really like that the armor is in the mesh layer. I originally purchased the black color because the white/grey was not available. I am not a "black motorcycle gear" kind of person, so when the white/grey color became available I got it instead Mar 1, 2014

Audrey Q: great value w multi ways to wear the jacket. Very stylish as well. Jan 6, 2014
Ryan R: Wife picked it Dec 13, 2013
Thomas H: My wife likes the versatility of this jacket and the fact the protective layer is in the middle, rather than the third layer. It has worked perfectly in this respect. The warmth and wind protection is perfect and the coolness during warmer rides is the same. The one flaw is the outer shell simply isn't waterproof. First time out the seams leaked like a sieve. However, my wife decided to keep it, and use her own trusted outer shell that is not for motorcycling, rather a good Gortex jacket. Dec 9, 2013
Christopher S: Wife wanted this jacket. Nov 27, 2013
Mike K: matched my jacket, would never buy white again though Nov 17, 2013
Michael R: for my daughter. hard to find good quality youth jacket that is also warm, protective, an versatile. Hoping this will do it. Oct 14, 2013

Tonya P: The review showed a model in the jacket that was about my size so I knew that it would fit. The versatility of the out fit... one outfit for several seasons. Sep 18, 2013
Amy J: Reading the reviews and watching the videos it seems that this will be the best versatile jacket to work with the wide temperature ranges that I am going to have to deal with in the Pacific Northwest. I am looking forward to seeing how well I like the fit, feel and protection that this jacket will provide. Sep 2, 2013
Charlotte M: I chose this item because I am a beginner rider looking for a two in one jacket. I love that it has the waterproof outer shell while it also has the all mesh liner that has the armor so you can take the outer shell off on warmer days. Aug 16, 2013
A shopper asked: Is the pocket where you can add a spine protector only part of the outside jacket? So as to say if i purchased this and a c.e. spine protector but im mostly going to be using the 'inner' jacket will there be a place to put the spine protector in that inner mesh jacket? Apr 3, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
david c: The mesh jacket has the pocket for the spine protector. It comes with one, probably not as good as you want to buy but yeah, all the protection is in the mesh jacket part. So if you take out the insulated vest, and remove the outer shell you still have all the armor. Apr 4, 2014

Joe H: Just looked at my wife's jacket and all armor is contained in the inner mesh jacket module. The spine protector pocket appears rather small primarily between shoulder blades Apr 3, 2014
Reply to Joe Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
William C: The spine protector can be used in either the inner or outer jacket; in fact, it comes pre-installed in the inner jacket, but is easily transfered. Apr 3, 2014

Lisa D: The shoulder, elbow and spine protector pockets are in the inner mesh jacket. Apr 3, 2014

Robert F: Nope. There is a pocket in each of them. Apr 3, 2014

Mark R: All of the armor mounts in the mesh portion of the jacket. Additionally, the jacket comes with a spine protector, so unless you just want a specific spine protector, you do not need to buy one seperately. Apr 4, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi, I'm looking to purchase this Alter Ego 3.0, but I'm a bit confused on the sizing. I'm a 41inch bust, 38 waist, 41 inch hip...according to the sizing chart, I'm all over the place!
To fit my bust I'd be a Large, to fit my waist I'd be a 2Diva, to fit my hip I'd be a large.
So, would I'd best be suited to a LARGE?
I'm a 5'2" broad shouldered woman and do not want to have an issue of taking the inner shell out and having it be too big or vice versa being too small with the vest only.

Michael R: I bought this for my 11 year old daughter. For best results I recommend calling customer support to make sure you get the best fit.

My daughter doesn't have any problems with the jacket fitting in either configuration…it doesn't appear that the outer shell is supposed to be worn alone as the armor is fitted to the mesh jacket. You can pull the armor out and put it in the outer shell but we feel that makes things difficult and time consuming. Just the outer shell would make the jacket a bit sloppy, but again, I don't think it was designed to be worn that way.

When we want to be cooler we take off the outer shell and put it back on for rain or colder temps. as long as the mesh jacket fits the outer shell will fit too. The vest liner does add some bulk, but if you get that to fit then when you take it out the mesh jacket still fits well for us.

I can tell you that we love the jacket. It has good adjustability and can be used for more than just one temp setting. it's a good three season jacket.

Dianne D: My advice is to buy the size that fits your shoulders best because the rest of it is pretty adjustable between zippers and straps. Another consideration is will you ever be wearing extra layers? My bust is 41 & 36 waist, but if I put a measuring tape around my shoulders (above the bust line) I get 45 inches. I went with an x-large because I ride in the winter and I wear extra layers (including a down coat) under it. In the summer, the shoulders are loose, but not dramatically so. The mesh jacket is very comfortable on its own. I think if I were only planning on wearing this jacket in the summer, a Large would have worked for me.

If you only ride in the summer and don't plan on extra layers, you might try a Large and see how it feels. I wouldn't worry too much about the hip measurement because it's not a super-long jacket and there are zippered gussets that you can "let out". RevZilla is very good about returns/exchanges, so if you try the Large and decide it doesn't fit, you can exchange it really easily.

Michael S: My wife is about 38 bust and 31 waist 5'6". She also has broad shoulders and has trouble fitting jackets because of that. She says that the hip measurement doesn't really matter since the jacket is so short. She is smaller up top and larger lower and the jacket fits her well in a Small. This jacket is a bit backwards from most, the inner jacket is the mesh jacket with armor. The outer jacket is a waterproof textile jacket that can be worn separately or over the mesh and can take the back armor piece. She mostly just wears the inner mesh jacket. Feb 23, 2014

A s: I have trouble finding clothes due to chest size (46 inches). I went to the store to try on the jackets since I wanted to be able to zipper the jacket and feel comfortable. Tried on different sizes and styles. The 2Diva is big in the shoulders and sleeves but is comfortable in the chest area. The jacket can be adjustable straps in the hips and waist (5'4", comparable in hips and waist). Tried on the 1Diva and it was a better fit all around but snug in the chest area. Hope this helps. Lisa D: I'm a 34 inch bust and 28 inch waist. I wear a medium and am very happy with it. I first ordered a small (which matched my bust size). It was okay at the waist, but too snug through the shoulders and the sleeve length was too short.

Hope this helps you decide.

Aeisha D asked: Was this jacket good during the winter season? Did it keep you warm? Mar 30, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
JAN Z: In the state I live in the Winter season is way too cold, snowy and icy for riding. I bought a good leather jacket, so did not use this whole jacket much, but actually did use the interior lighter mesh jacket a number of times in the summer, for some protection that did not cook me. I would estimate that the whole jacket over the top of a hoodie or sweatshirt would be good for shorter rides around 50 degrees F, or longer rides at 55 or 60 degrees F. But that is an estimate. I really liked the 3-in-one feature, and also liked the reflective pin striping. Mar 30, 2015

david c: The jacket is for my girlfriend. We live in San Diego, and it gets down to the fifties and lower here in the winter. In the fifties, she was still warm. Going into the forties think you'd need some extra layers underneath. Not that the insulated vest does not have sleeve. You still have the other layers on your arms, just not that. We still agree this is a great jacket, really well designed and put together. Mar 30, 2015

Thomas H: My wife has been wearing this jacket during the Swiss winters for the past two years. She loves it. Granted, at times she opted for a warmer over-layer, so for anything under 5C/40F you may need something more. Hey, even walking around in freezing weather requires a down jacket or more. Regardless, the shape of the jacket lends itself nicely to another layer on top. Hope that helps. Mar 30, 2015

Cindee L: Yes, although since I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, our winter season is very mild. I have never needed to put in the thermal lining as my morning temperatures only got down to the low 30's. Just the wind breaker top layer was enough to keep me toasty. Mar 30, 2015

Gail D asked: I think I saw an interior breast pocket on the mesh jacket. If so, is it waterproof? I currently own the Cleo 2.2 jacket, which has that interior waterproof pocket, and it's come in very handy when I've gotten caught in unexpected rain and needed to protect my phone. Feb 11, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ray E: There is an interior pocket on the mesh jacket, but it is not waterproof. The inside and outside of the pocket is mesh. The interior pocket on the outer jacket is water resistant. I hope this helps. Feb 11, 2015
Reply to Ray Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Thomas H: Gail, despite the description(s) of this jacket, it is not waterproof in any way. Yes, the outer shell may shed mist and fog, but my wife has worn it often over the past 2 years when there is a bit of rain, as well as in a heavy downpour. She was soaked through. The outer shell's inner pocket is merely satin material with a stock non-waterproof zipper. The inner mesh jacket's inner pocket is wide-mesh, so no water protection there. Sorry. My wife loves this jacket and wears it daily; however, when it is wet outside, she always wears a waterproof jacket over all that!. Great looking, but no real water protection provided here. Hope that helps. Cheers! Feb 24, 2015

Gail D: Thanks, Thomas! Exactly what I needed to know. I ended up going with the Cleo 2.2 (again). It fit much better than the Alter Ego 3.0 once I had a chance to compare them side by side, and I've used the waterproof pocket on the Cleo on more than one occasion, so I know it works. Feb 25, 2015

JAN Z: I really don't know if it is waterproof, sorry Mar 30, 2015

A S asked: So, second time I'm asking this (I'm not sure if someone thought it was a bad question so it was taken down, but if I'm spending $225 of my hard earned money on a jacket I sure would like to know what I'm getting before I've paid for it). The stock image of the black/purple is different than others I've found online. Some of them seem to be a bit more blue. Does anyone know what the true color of the jacket is? May 30, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Mark W: I bought this jacket in black for my wife and she loves it. As for the purple one, I'd go with purple. It's always hard to by online when it comes to color. That's the great thing about RevZilla! If it's not to your liking just send it back. It's only 7 bones if you don't like the color. No risk. May 31, 2014

Jason L: A S, I bought this jacket a few months ago for my girl I the purple/black color and the purple is true purple and matches every purple accent on her bike perfectly, and the removable mesh liner is awesome for hot weather and looks great, she's told me she couldn't be happier with it Jun 26, 2014

A S: Thank you! And sorry for sounding like such a tool with my question. I had been on pain killers for an illness and while I was wondering about this, I don't even remember putting these questions on the forum (much less coming off like a jerk). May 31, 2014

RevZilla: Yes and no. The outer jacket, which is waterproof (read: windproof) will be quite warm for you. The mesh jacket underneath however (you get 2 for 1 with the Alter Ego 3.0), would keep you plenty cool in the heat. Everyone's temperature tolerances are a bit different, but my guess is that the waterproof shell would be a bit much in the summer. Jan 31, 2013

Eve K asked: I LOVE my jacket! Just got it today and now I can't wait for riding season in Chicago.
My only question is if the inner jacket can have an extender zipped to it--it has a zipper on the lower back. Is that for an optional extender? If not, what is that for?

Dianne D: I believe the zipper in the lower back is so that you can zip it to your pants. All of my motorcycle jackets have this zipper and my armored overpants also have the zipper. Jan 21, 2015

A shopper asked: I've seen several pictures of this jacket online and can't get a feel for the true color of the black/purple jacket. I've seen some pictures where it looks more blue or blue/purple. Does anyone know if the true color of the jacket is closer to the stock picture or is it in fact a bit more blue/purple in color? May 29, 2014
