Icon Field Armor Stryker Shorts

Hip Armor is a lifesaver. Well not a lifesaver, but definitely a hip protector. So much so that we integrated both biofoam and CE hip protectors into the Field Armor Stryker shorts. The form fitting chassis places a layer of high-tenacity aramid between your ass and the street. If you have ever been down before, you wont need any further convincing on the need for this feature. Finally the mesh crotch panel provides ventilation in key areas, because protection without ventilation is just plain...sweaty. The Field Armor Stryker shorts, shielding the bits you hold most dear.

Comfortable and serving their purpose so far. I read the reviews and went ahead and bought these shorts for some extra protection under regular jeans. I am pretty happy with them so far but have a few comments that may help others. Some reviews said they would be uncomfortable without another pair of boxers underneath but I am fine with them alone. One issue I didn't expect is that I needed to buy some jeans one size up to fit the shorts with the padding underneath. If I wear them with my regular size I atleast need to remove the foam pad but the ce protection fits. Only major issue is a number of the threads at the seams have come loose and there is a pull or two in the panels, I haven't decided yet but I may check out the warranty because these are too expensive not to last. As much as I like Icon the same shortcuts in quality are evident in my Icon 1000 jacket liner. July 6, 2015
Decent price point for hip protection. Comfortable and functional. Been wearing these for about 2 months on my 30 min urban commute (lots of stop and go). So far, so good. They are too bulky to wear under jeans all day at work, so I change in and out of them before and after my commute. I like the peace of mind they provide (particularly for hip impact protection). I haven't been very rough with them or had them long so I can't speak to durability, but they seem like they will do just fine for at least a few years. One may balk at paying this for some shorts, but i think $70 is a fair price when weighed against life-long hip pain from impact damage. One complaint is lack of fly, so kind of hard to peee when they're on. May 11, 2015
Great extra for jeans I'm able to wear these under my kevlar jeans to add just a little extra protection with some hip pads. They're barely noticeable, which is exactly what I was looking for, and they're comfortable enough to wear all day if you need to. February 27, 2015
100% satisfied Nothing bad to say about these shorts. Just hope I don't put them to the real test. Nothing is especially great about them but they are just right all around. December 29, 2014
Great hip protection! If you value your ability to walk then I can't recommend these enough. I high-sided while wearing jeans and chest/back protector and ended up with a bruised hip bone and nerve damage. Had I had these on I would be able to walk without pain. These also fit under my racing leathers for additional protection. The doctors in the ER told me that it's not the spine that is most at risk in an accident, that in fact, they see shattered pelvises much more. After hearing that and dealing with a pimp walk I won't ride without hip protection. Also, these bad boys breathe and are low profile. They are hardly noticeable under jeans or leathers and give you that extra piece of mind. December 28, 2014
Exactly what I ordered I read through the product description and all the specifications and what arrived was exactly what I ordered. Revzilla shipping was very prompt. The stitching, padding and quality of the garment is exactly what I expected. October 13, 2014
Very commutable Comfortable enough to walk around. Easy solution for me, who rides to work and the gym and spends lots of time out of the bike and w/o storage for a full armored pants. August 5, 2014
Odd fit but seemingly high quality I had high hopes for these shorts - I like riding in jeans and was looking forward to adding another layer of protection. The hip armor is low-profile and the Aramid panels do in fact extend all the way down the thigh on each side. Unfortunately, the fit was totally wrong for me. Granted, I'm a girl, but I usually wear men's pants (and occasionally boxer briefs) pretty well and i figured the stretch material in these would accommodate feminine curves adequately. Not the case. These shorts have a very low rise and the hip armor is just not where I need it to be, so they're going back. I'd also add that the material is definitely NOT soft against the skin, heads up if you're sensitive to that sort of thing. June 7, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Greg M: Great shorts, other people said they have to wear boxers underneath but it's not necessary. They need to man up. The armor is great and I feel much better knowing I have some abrasion protection and armor under my regular jeans. Somehow I even feel cooler with these in the summer temps and humidity than regular boxer briefs. These are a great solution if you aren't wearing specific riding pants which most of us do not on a Harley. Sep 4, 2015
Joel M: Wanted armor that could go under regular jeans. Plus my AGV Excursion Kevlar pants have no hip pads. Jul 17, 2015

Bryan S: Went down without hip protection and I'm lucky I can walk! The Dr's told me hip injuries are the ones that cripple you so I picking up some real protection along with better pants. Oct 28, 2014

Gary A: I had a major crash and bruised my hip badly. My riding pants had hip pads but they were very thin. I bought these to increase my level of protection. Since then I have upgraded my riding pants to BMW Rallye 3 so I now only wear these when wearing my mesh summer pants. Jan 8, 2014

Curtis T asked: Hi,
The size chart of this product is somewhat unclear. I wear 32" size jeans and I plan to wear this over my undies. Should I go with medium or large? Thanks.

Matthew M: I'm the same waist size and put it on over my underwear too. The medium fit me great! Good luck :) Mar 10, 2015

G A: My honest answer is that I finished by cutting up these tights and having the armor professionally sewn into kevlar jeans. I didn't really like the tights and their fit.. I also doubted their protection capability for a road slide.. (maybe okay on the dirt).

More so, in addition to above - I later bought a pair of - RHOK Gen3 Liner Motorcycle Jeans with Knee and Hip CE Armor - which are very good..

Cheers Gary

David G: I'd probably go toward a large, but you'd really need to try it to be sure, it's a fairly intimate measurement and would depend on your body.
Not much help, sorry!

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chris K: There is no abrasion resistance in these shorts. They have protective hip padding, but otherwise are just designed to go under a pair of jeans or riding pants. Apr 6, 2011
