Icon Compound Leather & Textile Overpants

Helmet, gloves, jacket, boots - the essential riding gear worn by every motorcycle operator who understands the game and the stakes associated. Too often riding-specific pants are left out, and too often down riders must recover from rashed legs when they could have just walked away and begun the Ebay® search for a new tank and rear sets. The Compound pant is remarkably understated considering the added level of abrasion resistance offered by durable leather / textile construction with removable CE knee impact protectors. Designed to be used as an 'overpant,' the Compound pant fits comfortably over your street denim. Dual full-length side zippers make the on/off process too easy to ignore. If you are running the streets in your mall-bought jeans, we suggest you up your game with the Compound.

Bang for Buck Overall these overpants are very well designed. They aren't waterproof at the front pocket area but does well everywhere else. Blocks the wind extremely well rode as low as 35 degrees and kept me warm. I feel the protection level would be good if I were to go down. I wear 32x34 jeans and the and the size 32 fit really well length wise but are a little tight at the waist. They are long enough that in the sport riding position they still cover to the top of the boot. I would highly recommend! March 23, 2015
Great overpant! This was originally to be work just for commuting back and forth from work, but I use it for all of my riding. It fits perfectly over any clothing that you have underneith. The sides almost entirely zip off for getting in and out. I'm glad that I bought this. March 3, 2015
good quality. .a bit stiff until you break them in No regrets. .love them, yes even for girls. Really like the leather placement. My only problem was how stiff they are at first. Pants eased up after a few uses. February 23, 2015
Great protection and got on sale Nothing protects like leather, but it can be a bit heavy. These pants are a good compromise as they have ballistic nylon in non-impact areas to make the pants more comfortable and a bit lighter. That said they are HEAVY. BIG zippers and snaps and heavy cow hide on the places that count. The hardware and build quality on them is impressive. The bottoms can be trimmed if, like me you suffer from SARS (Short Assed Rider Syndrome). The only thing that would have made them better is possibly including hip armor (or at least pockets to add some). Otherwise nice pants. January 26, 2015
Fit/Finish/Protection BIg Thumbs Up These pants are really nice and far exceeded my expectations. I did not expect them to be of this caliber and they are really nice. No hip protection, but the knee protection seems to be top notch. Leather is of a very high quality. Hope I never have to test them, but know I am safe if I need to. Would be very warm in hotter climates, but fall spring, and winter they do offer some nice wind breakage. They do breath through the textile, but ultimately would not want to wear on a 90 degree day. I LOVE these pants! As a moderately tall but leggy girl at 5'7" and 144#, with a 34-36" inseam, it is IMPOSSIBLE to find something that fits and protects. I have literally been searching over a year. I have been eying these- but as a man pant, I was hesitant. I had tried a few other man pants, but even they are high waters for me (usually top out at 32 inseam), especially on the bike. Most of them also fit like a potato sack on the top end and I can pull them off when all buttoned up (I imagine that wouldn't work well in a pavement slide!), so bad everywhere. But- when these went on closeout, I got nervous I'd lose my chance to try them. I hesitated long enough to lose the option for black, but then finally ordered two in white. I wear a 32, so I got a 30 and a 32 to try (I didn't want to risk a sell out of my size). The 30 is PERFECT. They are long enough (no cutting for me), and they are the ONLY pair I have tried that I can actually move around in, and swing my leg unimpeded over the saddle. By now it is in the 50's, and they keep me warm on the way to work in the morning, and I can layer under them with no problems. They are easy to get on and off, so great commuter pants. They feel substantial, and the leather is thick and the textile tough feeling. I could not be happier. I sent the 32 pair back, and Revzilla customer service hit an ace again. The return ship label option is half what I would pay setting up shipping myself, and all the particulars (box weight, addresses) are filled in automatically. I dropped the box off at my local UPS, and my money was returned within 2 days. I feel great wearing these pants- and am looking at the Q&A to decide if I should go for the mesh for warmer weather. I hope they don't sell out! I also hope they continue this model in some form, I've tried the rest, and finally, I bought the best! Thanks Revzilla! Rides: 2001 Triumph Bonneville November 3, 2014
Exactly What I Was Looking For I've put around 500 miles on these pants now and can honestly say these are a great purchase. Haven't come off the bike with these yet but I am confident these will prevent the need for skin grafts. Pros: tough, heavy leather, flexible for walking and riding, easy on/off, easily fits over boots, cheap price. Cons: little to no air flow (but sweating is a norm in Texas), armor is useless (buy strap on) 4 star product due to no air flow but 5 stars for what's to be expected based off description Pants do run large as other reviews have stated. more like over-over-pant but still great Great pant, especially for the clearance price. VERY Big though. inseam is right on but waist is HUGE. Warm pant as well. Very tuff July 26, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
D E: I really needed pants that I could slip over my slacks on my daily commute to work. Great style, protection, and can easily put over/pull off of your jeans/slacks + shoes. Feb 19, 2015
Javan V: Closeout price of $140 Feb 19, 2015
Patrick K: Great price and need something to wear for commute to work that's water resistant. Dec 24, 2014
Ken R: Read lots of Revzilla reviews and this seems to be the right pants and a good deal. Aug 29, 2014
Jacob I: They seem like a nice "3 season cool/cold weather" overpant. Not disappointed. Aug 25, 2014
stewart Jon H: protection and value Jul 29, 2014
Jason L: These overpants fit the bill for me of being as heavy and protective as my leather-and-textile jacket, but at an incredible price (not $500). This is solid, protective gear, and that's what I want for to keep me comfortable and reassured on my daily commute. Added benefit is the ease with which they go on and off, even with boots on. Style is a little over the top -- somewhat typical of Icon -- and not my wife's favorite, but I want them much more for the protection than the appearance. Jul 21, 2014
Dustin H: Amazing and very good looking overpant ICON made here... Jul 1, 2014
S A: under protection is a pain Jun 16, 2014
Darrin C: Good price. I usually wear a size 36 in pants. Tried these on in store and the fit nice a snug with room in the legs. Rides a touch high in the crouch, but works fine. May 31, 2014
Roger Y: I want some summer time protection for my lower body and I like the mix of leather in the abrasion zones. I plan on adding some hip protection to it. May 18, 2014
Daniel V: Best looking and fits well. Fighter Mesh version was half the price which doesn't make sense. I wish this one was close to that price. Apr 12, 2014
Christopher C: Need good protection and functionality, and don't like the tight race style pants for street riding. Apr 7, 2014
Greg C: It appeared to be a well constructed item that I was looking for With good reviews within my price range. Feb 14, 2014
Alexander G: Item I wanted, in the color I wanted, for $70 off. Nov 13, 2013
Barry M: i like the look n easy on and off for commuting.. and they are leather. Nov 5, 2013
A shopper asked: The overpants that I'm replacing (different brand, etc.) have what I would characterize as "fine toothed" zippers on the legs with little vinyl-like weather-stripping ribbons on the outside. The zippers continually snag between the lining and the weather-stripping, and now the zippers are failing to stay closed as well.
How would you characterize the zippers on the legs of this product?
Do the zippers have that pesky weather-stripping ribbon built in?

Roger Y: They are large tooth zippers and easily zip open and close. I wear these pants everyday on my work commute and they are built very well, would buy them again, and would recommend them. As I mentioned in my review they run large and I would recommend measuring your waistline at the belly button and then get one size smaller. Jul 25, 2014

Peter O: The zipper on the leg is large toothed and metal. There is no vinyl-like weather-stripping ribbons on the outside so there is nothing to snag the zipper. Overall I would characterize the pants as solid and well constructed. Jul 27, 2014

Juan H: No they do not have weather stripping. They are not fine tooth and they hold up pretty well. I've had mine for 3 years and the zippers are fine. Jul 25, 2014

Thomas H asked: Hello, I ordered the Icon Compound Mesh Overpant and they fit much smaller than everyone stated. You no longer have the next size up. Should I consider this Icon Compound Textile Overpant, given I want to use them riding in AZ in May/June? I want white to help reflect the sun, but even with white, will this pant still be a little too hot in 95-deg weather? Mar 24, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jeff J: I have both in black. I have found them to be long so I cut the leather back on the bottom removing the snaps. I do not find them to be small. Both of mine are 40's when i was wearing 42 jeans. I lost 50 lbs and now wear 38's. They are quite large now. The textile pair really block a lot more wind, so they are considerably warmer than the mesh pair. In the middle of a Central Illinois summer, there is enough leather on these pants to still make them a little on the warm side, even with the mesh pair. I would not want the textile pair on in 95-deg weather. Hope that helps. Apr 1, 2014

Dennis L: I have black pants also, and would not, and do not wear them in 95 degree heat. Apr 14, 2014

Thomas H: I should have mentioned that I ordered the white version, and RevZ does not have the larger sizes in white.. No, I would never consider black in such heat. Apr 14, 2014

A shopper asked: Very interested in getting these overpants, but I want to make sure I can connect them to a jacket. Will these overpants connect to the Icon Sanctuary Jacket or the Icon Overlord Jacket? Thanks. Jun 18, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Roger Y: There is a zipper in the pants for connecting to a jacket. Its about 8.5 inches long and has medium teeth. I do not own an ICON jacket to say for sure but since its ICON pants I would assume it is made to mate to an ICON jacket. In addition if the zipper is not the right teeth size or length an adapter is a simple fix if you know some one who sews or just replace the zipper.

The pants are awesome though and I wear them everyday even in 80-90 temps. They are comfortable and do flow air. Glad I got these ones.

Brett C asked: How is the Icon Compound pant finished on the bottom - is there a sewn hem or rough cut? Nov 4, 2013

Justin W: It's a rough cut. Nov 7, 2013

A shopper asked: What is the difference between these pants and the icon compound mesh overpants? Apr 16, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Icon Compound Overpants are a mixture of textile/leather whereas the Icon Compound Mesh Overpants are a mixture of mesh/leather. That being said, the Compound Overpants will offer more all around protection because of the additional abrasion resistance. Apr 23, 2013
