Icon Compound Mesh Overpants

The Compound Mesh Overpants blend the abrasion resistance of premium grade cowhide with the breathability of Fighter Mesh, resulting in the perfect balance of comfort and protection. Dual full-length side zippers make for an easy on/off procedure and the adjustable waist straps combined with a ratchet waist closure allow for a fine-tuned fit. Once the pant is on, you'll notice expansion panels in critical areas which aid in both overall comfort and keeping the removable/adjustable CE knee impact protectors in their proper position. If you're looking for serious warm weather protection for your bottom half, your search is over.

Awesome Overpants! Love these overpants! They were a bit long so I took them to a seamstress and she cut & glued them and now they are perfect! I got a pair of the Icon Compound Overpants and the Icon Compound Mesh Overpants. The mesh pair is a bit cooler in the front for the summer weather. The leather is thick and heavy so I feel that if I was unfortunate enough to go down that they would protect me. I wore them with jeans underneath but lately I've just been wearing shorts to stay cooler and they've been great! I also have the Icon Compound Mesh Jacket and that's awesome too. You can zip the pants and jacket together with the interlocking zipper. That's a little cumbersome for me but some may prefer that. You can easily get in and out of the pants even with boots on as the zippers zip from your hips to the length of the pant with two buttons at the bottom (The seamstress cut out one of the buttons as they were just too long). Plus, these pants just look awesome! May 26, 2014
Summer leather with great value Love these pants. I ride a Kawasaki Versys, so I sit upright and they are very comfortable. The armor is adjustable in the knees so I was able to customize the placement and fit which is fantastic. The leather and zippers are all heavy duty and very durable. I bought these during the sale so the price was a steal for this quality of protection. Got them in white, which i wasn't sure about, but they look great and provide for better visibility to boot! I live in Georgia, so I have yet to test their comfort in the southern summer heat. So far so good! April 21, 2014
Great Airflow for the protection I am 5'10" 150#. I ordered the medium and did not cut the bottoms of these pants. They have mesh the front lap area and behind on the calves. They flow air pretty good. In the am at 48F my lap got cold with no long johns on. In the 75F afternoon they were a little warm but bearable. I will wear shorts under them in the summer most likely. Great pants Overall great pants. Very good fit. Comfortable while walking and in riding position. Really heavy yet still comfortable to wear. Good air venting. The only thing I wish it had is the 8" zipper to connect to the jacket. April 7, 2014
Amazing but slightly large When I was looking at these pants I saw other reviews say that the pants a a little bit larger than the size chart. I am 6ft and 145lbs and needed to get a 32 for the legs. The waist does come in more than the 32 inches but not to a 30 which was fine for me. I did not have to remove any of the extra on the bottom to get them to fit the way I wanted them. Over all, very nice quality and I feel safe in these things. The white might get ditry, but I would rather deal with that than not being seen. I highly recommend these for anyone who is looking for a over pant. March 24, 2014
Great pants for the money I just ordered these pants after seeing a friends accident photos in regular mesh pants. It scared me so I upgraded to leather. The pants fit very true to size. I'm a 29/30 pant and I ordered the 30" waist. With just underwear, I have to ratchet the pants all the way and tighten the side adjusters. With pants under it as intended, they fit perfectly with a few clicks. As others have said, these puppies are LONG. Probably 34-36" inseam. I'm only a 30" so I cut 3 inches off the bottom so that I still had the top ankle snap intact. The extra leather at the bottom is nice for tailor fitting it to your own size. It was hard to cut the leather on the bottom but in no way is that a bad thing. It just adds to my confidence that these will hold up in an impact and or slide. Standing with no boots, they are still too long but on the bike in boots, they cover just to the top of my boot so I'm happy. They are mostly leather so they are heavy. I took the knee pads out because they are way too loose and don't line up at all even in the highest position. This is probably an issue for me because I am only 5'8" and mostly torso, so someone taller should be fine. Overall I would buy them again all day long. Not the same quality as a pair of dainese pants but these are half the price but atill pretty dang close. Processing took about 4 days which annoyed me but they were at my door within a week so no complaints here. March 12, 2014
Can't beat this deal! These overpants are pretty sweet! I have a 34 inch waist with a 30 inseam and I ordered size 32. They fit good over a pair of Dickies with a belt. Once I'm on my bike and in the riding position they only required cutting about an inch off. The styling is neutral and I feel protected. The leather is thick and they go on and off quickly. They cost less than some of the riding jeans available. No regrets on this purchase. January 13, 2014
not bad, but not great I was looking for a easy on/off pair of pants for sport riding and commuting. They work fairly well. The knee armor is horribly uncomfortable- I replaced mine with armor I had from another pair and its much better. These pants are very large, even for an overpant. I wear a 32 pant, and bought a 32, should have bought a 30. Even weaing them with jeans underneath all the adjusters are tightened all the way. I can however wear jeans and a polar fleece liner underneath, so it does help extend the season a bit. Decent airflow through the mesh, and leaving the fly and pockets open move a little more. With shorts underneath they are comfortable up to about 90 degrees or so, even stopped in traffic (it might be because mine are white). They leather seems to be decent quality, but there are some differences between the two legs, in that the pieces at the bottom of the leg are cut differently, and one leg was a little longer than the other. There is also more leather under the mesh on one side than the other, even after being cut to the same length (the mesh panels dont match from side to side) This is mostly cosmetic, but I expected more for the price. Cutting the legs to fit is a definate must. Stitching seems to be ok, but I was able to pull apart the pieces I cut off the bottom of the legs fairly easily. Hopefully this is only because they were little pieces, but once again I have to say I was somewhat underwhelmed with the overall quality. I would reccomend checking them out in person if you are seriously considering these pants, I probably would have bought something else or sent them back if I hadnt gotten them dirty when I first got them. (white is very hard to keep clean). August 16, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Robert H: Had these since last year since I needed a leather overpant to make changing at work easier.
never laid the bike down in these, but feel more protected than jeans or jeans with Kevlar.

the ratchet buckle holds tight. the leather mesh make riding on hot days bearable. took these to a local tailor and got them hemmed up as the were slightly long.

only annoying thing is when taking them off, is your heel catches the loose thin inner nylon mesh a lot, but it's not that big a deal.

Jonathan M: I chose these overpants because it fit the look I am going for while also offering the amount of protection I want. Since I am in Florida, I need pants that breath in the heat and these look like it will do. Will need to see them in person to give a true review though. Jan 22, 2014

Steve O: I was interested in the compound textile pants and saw these mesh ones on sale for the price of most denim riding jeans. I couldn't help myself. These should work perfect for some added protection over my work pants and for some sport touring. I'm still blown away at the 159.00 price, what a steal!! Dec 27, 2013
Lakiri H: To go with my jacket. Nov 25, 2013
Jeremy S asked: Will these pants fit over a protective full height boot like the alpinestar tech 3 all terrain boot? Jan 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
dylan w: I do not have any full-height boots, but I have worn these over my alpinestars boots as well as my weatherproof gaerne boots, the latter of which are somewhat bulky. There was a lot of room to spare, I am pretty certain that they would fit over any boots made, full height or otherwise. I bought mine a size larger than i would normally even though they are sized to go over. They are great- its been almost two years and no issues. Been through deserts and urban commutes and everything in between. Jan 15, 2014

David G: They should do, the cuff is leather split with two press studs and the zips run down the outside. They are are really loose fit. Wearing ski pants underneath they are a snug fit. With jeans they are roomy. For a long ride I would wear articulated knee armour underneath and take out the knee pads as they might not stay in position in a crash, but for short rides around town the knee pads are more convenient.
These pants are really versatile for different conditions.

Cole L: Definitely. The pants have a side zip from hip to cuff and button snaps at the bottom making getting them on and off a breeze. The cuffs of the pants when closed and snapped are still a very wide boot cut. They should have no issue going comfortably over even a beefy off-road boot like the tech 3's. Jan 14, 2014

Tim M: They should, the lower leg is fairly big around. The leather bottom panel with snaps can also be trimmed to a boot cut. get them hemmed after though they will look far better. Jan 15, 2014

Paul C: I would say yes. These pants are very loose fitting if you order your normal size. I can wear jeans and a liner underneath and still have room. Jan 15, 2014

A shopper asked: Hip Protection: Does this come with any hip protection? And, is it removable armor (i.e., are there pockets to upgrade the armor)? Apr 22, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
t. eric s: No hip armor in mine. The side zips go all the way to the waist, probably why it doesn't have any. The knee armor is removable and can be moved up and down in 3 pockets. I had to have mine moved up by a tailor, 30" inseam. Apr 22, 2014

David G: There is no padded hip protectors or pockets, but they do make a pair of shorts with hip protection which could be combined. May 6, 2014

Lakiri H: No hip protection... I'm about to upgrade to D3O for my knee pads. May 21, 2014

A shopper asked: I'm planning on wearing this for my commute to work, over dress pants (which are generally quite thin). The reviews seem to indicate that the pants are generously sized and may be worth ordering a size down and still have it work as overpants.

I have a Natural waistline of 34, wear jean size 33/34. Should I go with a 32 or a 34?
Apr 23, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
BRad704: Sounds like we are about the same size. I can say that the 34 waist seems to only be '34' with the ratchet adjuster all the way tightened. But I don't know that the length on the 32 will be long enough to cover your work pants at the bottom unless you tuck them in your boots. Apr 24, 2013

MaveRick85: I use them over my dress pants size 30 and I ordered size 30. It a little bit challenging putting them over my jeans that are size 32, but its doable. Hope this helps. Apr 29, 2013
Reply to MaveRick85 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Tim M: They are sized large and would fit easily over dress pants. you could just wear these and carry the dress pants so they don't wrinkle and change fast at work. Jan 15, 2014
Reply to Tim Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Raistlin12: Get the 34 then. I did the same thing, ordered a size smaller. I had to send them back and exchange for a 36. Works great over dress pants or scrubs. May 27, 2013

A shopper asked: I want to be able to zip this into my jacket, is there a zipper connector in the pants? And does it come with the half that you can sew into a jacket? Jan 22, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The Icon Compound Mesh Overpant has a zipper to interface into Icon jackets. If your jacket is a different brand, the pants come with both sides of the zipper so you can take your jacket and pants to a tailor and have them attach one side of the pant zipper to your jacket. Jan 23, 2013

Tim M: I took the other side of my Tour Master zipper and had a friend sew it beside the icon one. fits fine and works with both my jackets. Jan 15, 2014
