Icon Compound Mesh Jacket

Necessity is the mother of invention. And the necessity of hard riding in hot climates dictated our invention of the Icon Compound Mesh jacket. A hybrid jacket consisting of 1.2-1.4mm cowhide in the major impact areas, the Compound has true street legitimacy. But hot weather riding demands active cooling so we assembled the remaining chassis from our abrasion-resistant Fighter Mesh TM . Additional components include articulated back armor plates, ratchet waist adjuster straps, articulated arms, and a full complement of CE approved Field Armor TM Impact Protectors. If your trip takes you through scorching heat and you demand the protection only leather can provide, consider the Compound Mesh jacket your ticket to ride.

Features:

  • ICON Sport Fit
  • Fighter Mesh™ and 1.2-1.4MM Leather Chassis
  • Removable ICON CE Field Armor Elbow & Shoulder Impact Protector
  • Removable ICON Dual-Density Foam Back Pad
  • Articulating External Injection Molded Plastic Back Plate
  • Ratchet Waist Adjuster Straps
  • Gathered Stretch Panels for Comfort and Flexibility
  • Upgradable to Stryker CE Back Protector

December 16, 2013
Great all around The jacket is great even in 95+ temps and looks phenomenal! August 5, 2013
Love my Jacket I thought a large would be too big but it fits just fine 5'10" 180. keeps me cool in 90 degree weather. leather and armor in the right spots keep me feeling safe. Its warm enough for night riding but not made for rain or cold. For some reason i thought it had a liner it dose not. looks awesome July 30, 2013
Perfect Summer Protection This jacket looks and feels great! Too bad the all black is sold out but many people have still complimented it. Plenty of air flow for those hot summer days yet enough protection for ease of mind. The sizing is totally weird though. I am 5'11" 150lbs, and 32 waist. The med A* leather jacket fits me perfectly but this jacket, luckily i ordered a small after seeing the sizing issue in the reviewa. The jacket is slightly baggy in parts but I am a bit skinny and overall, it fits well. The waist adjusts nicely yet I have to tighten it all the way for me. Get it while it lasts! July 29, 2013
Great Jacket Jacket fits me nicely. Bought a Medium and I'm 5'10" and about 170lbs. The cuffs come down past my wrist a bit so i just strap my gloves over the cuff rather than inside. Inner lining is a little uncomfortable if wearing short sleeves underneath but you won't notice it while you're riding. Jacket is fairly cool during hot days, and quite chilly at night or low temps (wear something underneath if the temp is below 60). Overall love the look and feel of the jacket. Great purchase. Great Summer Jacket Bought this jacket last month, it has been amazing. I live in Cali so weather is pretty nice all year round here and summers around the corner so I needed a durable, safe, and cool jacket. I am 6'5 about 185lbs and I got a Large, fits perfect. I love the vents all over this jacket, it feels like a air conditioner is in my jacket when I am riding. I love the armor pads in the back and elbows, I feel really safe riding with this jacket and it is the best alternative to riding with just a shirt believe me the airflow is amazing. The only thing is this jacket would not be good for winter riding or cold weather riding, kinda obvious but wanted to include that note. As always revzilla rules. June 4, 2013
I was told I look like Batman... This is a really unique jacket because there are so few out there with leather and mesh. Because it is mesh, it does allow a decent amount of air to flow through the chest, but because of the leather sleeves it is quite heavy and not a HOT weather jacket. This is good up to about 75 or 80 and then you better be moving or you'll regret wearing it. It would have been nice to have perforated leather sleeves instead of solid. I'll be buying another jacket for the mid 80 and above temperatures. The shoulder intake TPU was unfortunately cut with a sharp edge right up against the neck. In normal riding you will not notice it, but if you need to turn your neck at a sharp angle (such as at the bottom of an exit ramp) the edge can dig into your neck and cause some discomfort. They really should have been rounded off. This problem is not as bad with the shoulder armor out, but obviously taking out armor is not a good idea. Style wise, I wore this as I was leaving work the other day and I was told that I look like I'm wearing a Batman jacket. Personally, I like Batman so this was a compliment! I'm hoping the jacket breaks in a little bit to become more comfortable. I'm really glad I read up on the fitment of it before buying. I'm 5'8", 185lbs, 42" chest and 34" waist. Normally this would put me into a large, but the medium fits rather nicely. The only issue is that the sleeves are a tad long for me, but I think my arms are on the shorter side. June 3, 2013
Great jacket This is a really great jacket. From all the exterior features that make it look unique from other competitor jackets. It has amazing air flow especially on hot days. The jacket fits kinda big so try to go a size smaller if you arent going to be wearing a sweater underneath (cold days). The jacket overall is worth the price and it will have people asking you questions on where you bought it. June 3, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Sammy A: Im a big fan of Icon, and saw this jacket like what kind of safety features that had use. It also didn't hurt that this jacket was on sale thanks once again Revzilla for having the best products in the market. Apr 6, 2014
Azeez A: Great price Apr 2, 2014
Hector S: Great price and great reviews as well. It looks pretty sick in all black like something Bruce Wayne would wear. Mar 11, 2014
Lakiri H: I needed a jacket for the summer. Although it is mesh, it is hot in the summer with all the black leather! They should have used black mesh and white leather ! Nov 25, 2013
A shopper asked: Will this zip into any of Icon's pants? Mar 15, 2013

RevZilla: The Icon Compound Mesh Jacket has a nine inch zipper that will allow you to keep your jacket and pants in place in the event of a crash. Hopefully you won't have to put this zipper to the test. Mar 19, 2013

peter b asked: i live in virginia. temperatures range from 20s/30s in the winter and 80s/90s in the summer. which is more suited to go all year around, the mesh or textile? Sep 11, 2013

Jeffrey J: My Icon compound mesh jacket is very comfortable in the 80s and 90s as long as I'm moving. I don't wear it below 60 degrees, It would be too cold. You could extend it a little lower something internal to break the wind. But nothing close to the 20s and 30s. My heavy leather jacket with a heavy wool sweater is good to the upper 30s. My hands and feet go numb before the jacket becomes a problem. I used to wear the heavy leather jacket in the summer in Ohio (about 10 degrees cooler than Virginia) and just open it part way to get good air flow. Sep 11, 2013

Cameron H: I have the mesh jacket and live in California where temps range from 40-110. Anytime it drops below 80 I always get too cold on long rides because the mesh breathes too much. When it gets over 100 its too hot to wear anything really. I would recommend the textile jacket for you, the mesh will be too cold in the winter even with layers. Sep 11, 2013

T. Luke S: I personally love love love the Icon Compound Mesh Jacket. Even though it is black, as long as you keep moving you will stay cool in the hot temperatures. Also, with leather in all the primary areas protection was great when I slid going around 45 mph... Sep 11, 2013

carla b: Definitely textile because it comes with the removable liner which is a great option. I bought the mesh because I only ride in 50 degrees and up weather. The COMPOUND is an awesome jacket, highly recommend it !!! Sep 11, 2013

Cameron H: I would get the textile. The mesh breathes way too much for anything below 75 degrees on long rides. Sep 11, 2013

A shopper asked: Is the compound mesh jacket a step up or down in comparison to the contra? Aug 19, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Julian F: In terms of protection it's a step down simple because the Icon compound has leather in parts of the jacket offering more protection from contact with the pavement than a full mesh jacket could provide. Looks wise its personal preference. Aug 20, 2013

Matthew G: The seem to be the same jacket. I would think that compound is heavier though and more protective. Aug 20, 2013

A shopper asked: The description of this item lists a liner. The video here and on other sites do not show the liner. Does this compound mesh jacket come with a liner? If so, would you say it is good enough to ride in 50 degree temps with it? Jun 11, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
ScottyF4i: negative. mine didnt come with a liner. there is enough room in mine to wear a layer underneath during the colder months. the mesh breathes really well so when the temps drop this jacket will freeze you out. if the weather report here says 60 or less, i put a hoodie on underneath. i rode to work the other morning at 38 degrees and had a cold spot or two on the interstate, but otherwise fine with an extra layer in there. RevZilla: This particular jacket is designed for hot temperatures. It does not have a liner as its mission in life is to keep you cool. In my personal opinion it would be too cold to wear at 50 degrees. Jun 20, 2012

A shopper asked: How is the sizing compared to the older arc jacket it is replacing? I had an XL Arc. Should I order an XL? May 14, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Yes, Icon Arc Jacket will fit very similar to the Compound Mesh, if the XL fit you in the Arc, we would recommend the same size in Compound Mesh. May 16, 2012

A shopper asked: i dont know if anyone has the new overlord resistance jacket but any opinions of it VS the compound mesh? Sep 9, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tom C: I do not own the overlord resistance, I own the compound mesh and in my opinion they are basically the same except the overlord has $130 of protective gear built into the jacket. They both have the padding in the upper back, shoulders, and elbows; but the overlord has larger back protector, padding in the lower back, padding in the chest and stomach, as well as more padding in the arms. I can say compound mesh is great for the price, I live in CA so typical weather is around 50-80 so I am very satisfied with the compound mesh. BUT if you are looking for more protection and still want that airflow I would go with the overlord resistance. Hope I helped. Sep 18, 2013

A shopper asked: compound mesh or compound textile? which is better for cold(20s,30s, etc) and which is better for the heat(80s, 90s, etc)? Sep 9, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Axel C: I live in Puerto Rico where the weather is normally above 80?F and the compound mesh jacket works great. It provides a lot of air flow and protection. I'm 5'9" at a 170lbs and the small size it's an exact fit. Anyone bigger or heavier should get the medium. Overall a really nice jacket. Sep 19, 2013

A shopper asked: Will Forcefield shoulder, elbow and back armor fit into this? Jul 23, 2012

RevZilla: Yes, you will be able to use Forcefield Protections with the Icon Compound Mesh Jacket. Jul 24, 2012

A shopper asked: what forcefield back protector will the compound mesh take? is forcefield better than icons armor? Sep 9, 2013

A shopper asked: I'd like to get the jacket to match my compound mesh overpants, and I'm trying to decide between the mesh and the regular textile. Which do you think would be better for spring/summer riding in southern California? I ride to for commuting and travel, and get some cool mornings and warm afternoons, and I'd appreciate the input. Thanks! Mar 14, 2013
