Forcefield Elite Chest Protector

A great amount of design time has gone into the Forcefield Elite Chest Protector. Forcefield is well aware of chest protectors being too bulky and hard for practical use. This slim and low-profile, breathable design is soft enough to curve around the individual’s body shape, utilizing the Forcefield Nitrex Evo Armor to provide the protection. The straps are adjustable with the option of being removed completely if they are not needed.

Features:

  • Designed to be soft, flexible and comfortable
  • Nitrex Evo a unique high-tech triangular shock absorbing material combined with dense and lightweight foam, energy can be dispersed evenly over its surface
  • Repeat Performance Technology
  • Low profile and slim design is fully adjustable (height & width)
  • 3D molds to the riders body shape
  • Breathable and lightweight
  • CE approved to: EN1621-2 (Level 1)

Essential Protection
I participate in adventure and street riding on my GS and this product was recommended by a friend who was riding with another buddy who came off his bike during an off-road adventure ride and was not wearing any kind of chest protection. He smacked his rib cage against the top edge of the windshield when he came off the bike and spent some time in the hospital because of this injury. The Forcefield chest protector would have mitigated the extent of his injuries if he had been wearing one. It slips on readily and after a few rides it is barely detectable because it feels like the rest of your normal gear. I wear an Aerostitch Darien Jacket which provides ample room to wear the Forcefield.

super safe state of the art protection
Feel very safe in it
It is bulky
It comes with suspender straps which are not easy to use
OR just remove the straps from it -
put on your jacket and jam the protector inside the jacket
Wish it wrapped around my ribs more but it is wraps some which is more than most chest protectors that offer zero rib protection

Forcefield Chest Protector delivers great protection with good comfort
I wear this under two different BMW motorcycle jackets (one a mesh and the other an all season with some zippered vents) and I have found it is comfortable to wear. I bought this because my jackets give me protection everywhere but the chest. The actual product is definitely firmer than the other protective pads in my jackets, but the ones in my jacket are designed to stiffen on impact. I feel very safe and secure in this chest protector and confident it will protect adequately. Air flow is minimal, but I've found I don't feel I'm even wearing it most of the time even in hot weather. I just don't feel the breeze on my chest when I have my jacket half open. It is comfortable and not stifling hot. If you are doing some fall riding it is perfect though. Movement is uninhibited.

ideal replacment for bulky chest pads
I bought this to replace the chest pad that comes with the pro shirt x-v-s that is grotesquely thick and protrudes out the front to the point of ridiculous and in the way. I wear the Elite chest protector over a sleeveless t-shirt and under the pro shirt. It doesn't get in the way and vents very well. It also covers A larger area for added protection and feels heavy enough to provide at least some puncture barrier. It is of high quality and well constructed but, although thinner it is A bit heavier than the stock chest pad that comes with the pro shirt x-v-s. However, I personally see that as A plus.

Solid construction that gives you confidence
I bought this protector, because I have several jackets that lack proper frontal impact protection. This piece definitely gives me the protection and versatility that I was looking for. Hopefully, I wont need its protection, but I feel it will do the job.
The only down side is, that, despite a few holes for venting, it makes you sweat like crazy. Your t-shirts will be soaked. And the straps on the rear get twisted occasionally.
But considering the benefits and the lack of similar products currently out there, I would buy it again.

I FEEL SAFER
I went to Pacific Riding School and saw one on my instructor. I had to have. I am not worried about my driving, I am worried about all the other drivers out there. This chest protector gives me the extra protection I want when I have to share the road with people who do NOT KNOW how to drive. The protector is light. I hardly feel it on. I have great range of motion. And I feel SAFER with it on ;-)

A little bulky but should work to save a life
I bought this because I own a Force field back protector but it doesn't connect to it so it can work with anything. It stays in place well but it is a little thick so make sure you have some space in your suit for it. It's not flexible but in the chest area, I don't want something flexible.

Not For Skinny Guys
5'11", 150lbs, got the SM/MD, and it is too big. If the protector had more curve to it maybe it would fit ok. But it's fairly flat and stiff so it sticks out awkwardly.

The straps are also positioned strangely and I found it hard to get it adjusted well.

I really want to make this protector work since it is pretty much the only stand alone chest protector out there. But It's just too bad of a fit.

One of the very few chest only protectors on the market. Wear a back pack while riding (snowmobile and dirt bike) that has a back protector built in already.

I already have a high quality jacket that includes a nice back protector; this seems like an easy way to add chest protection without buying redundant gear.

Forcefield has proven itself over time. When riding on the track, additional protection is needed and this fits the bill

Just had cardiac surgery I want a stand alone protector when driving my car and once the weather is nicer its my new bike gear. I have a back CE pad in my jacket already so wanted a single chest solution. I may do a double in the hot weather but I don't want to give up the protective jacket ever.

Good chest protection. Easy on and off. Could not find chest protection built into a jacket for reasonable price or for warm weather.

The chest protector that comes with the forcefeild xvs shirt is ridiculous. Should have bought the shirt without armor and bought the armor separately. Live and learn

I am a big fan of Forcefield armor. I use their older model of chest protector at the track but Its a bit bulky for the street. Hoping this will work.

How thick is the chest protector, both at the center torso, and at the left and right edges of the lower half (more of the rib area)? Thank you!
Karl C on May 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Thickness is even all the way across the piece. A little more than a 1/4 inch in thickness. Great product. I have a jacket that already has back protection so this helps. You will sweat a bit more in hot weather however. I have decided to wear it
underneath my riding shirt for the cafes.
Can this be used along with the force field back protector under a race suit ?
charles T on Mar 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. But keep in mind the straps cannot be removed and so it can be a little cumbersome putting it on and taking it off with the back protector.
The sizing chart does not include this product. Help?
David T on May 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I contacted Forcefield and this is their response.

The sizing guide for the Elite chest protector is:
S/M – 39” – 43”
L/XL – 43.5” – 48”
Since the straps are detachable, can I slide this into a Dainese jacket with the pocket designed for the thorax protector?
Anthony T on Jun 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello Anthony my apologies but I don't have and dainese jacket so don;t know the sizes of the pocket. If you kindly send me those i could figure out if it fits.

Cheers mate
Can this product be used "backwards" as chest protector / rib protector since my jacket already has CE Level 2 protection?
David T on May 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I contacted Forcefield and this was their response:

It is possible to wear the Rib protector at the front for chest/rib protection. It may be a little bit awkward to put it on, but if you fasten it at the front and then twist around and then put your arms through the shoulder elastic it should be fine.
