Keepin' it simple Zup Zilla Nation, In the last 4 months I've done a lot of research about this back protector and thought I would share it with the Nation. Disclaimer. I do not own this back protector. I am a huge fan and own a lot of ForceField products and only use one other brand that will not be named. A good friend let me try this out after I showed interest it the Blade. "Brake It Down" Very light. Much lighter than my L2k or other full size "Hard Candy Shell" protector. ForceField owners and those of you who tried out the inserts and the L2K, you always felt the kevlar stitched edges of the protector pressed against your back before your body heated up the protector & began to soften and mold to your back. This may have cause some discomfort for most and maybe turned you off of the products all together. But the Bade has no stitched edges so there is zero discomfort almost zero restriction of movement. Vent hole are large and have a vent "channel" cut out of then(see pix). Vents better then the L2K. It's pretty thin. If you don't have much room in your suit or jacket and want a CE2 level protector, and most of all you don't want to know its there. I'm think you should really give this one a good look. John K: Because my 16 year old leathers appear to have *ahem* shrunk a little through the middle, and are very tight with my older tech and thicker articulated back protector. I'm hoping this one will be just enough thinner to give me a little more room. Plus, it's a nice upgrade. May 7, 2014

Devon S: According to Gerard's answer to my question, the Blade is 22.5 mm, I assume the L1 is thinner given it's lower impact rating. Aug 16, 2014

the blade is 22.5 mm thick and transmits 6.43 kn, pro sub4 32 mm thick and transmits 3.38kn.blade thinner and cooler to wear
