Great features for price, waterproof but no airflow and shift pad wears I think that these boots are a great value. My main purpose was protection and water proof and that they do very well. However, they do not flow air very well which is not surprising at this price point. It fit my feet exactly as described - I am glad that that FirstGear has not gone the narrow feet route typrical of most Euro brands. My only complaint is that shift pad wears visibly and quickly. I sent my first pair after 2 weeks because the outer layer on the shift pad had worn off. FirstGear to their credit replaced them immediately. The second pair is much better. It still wears but at a reasonable rate. I will buy these again. June 23, 2015
Great entry level commuter boots Got these after trying on the TourMaster WP Air solution boots (which have very similar features and styling, but did not fit my feet as well as the Firstgear). Were comfortable immediately. After only 2 days of break-in, can wear them all day. A bit hot, but most boots are. No airflow, but they claim to be waterproof, so I guess that's what you get. Haven't had them in the rain yet. June 3, 2015
Not durable Bought these (another vendor) and in less than 40 wearings, the toebox is tearing apart on one boot. The material delaminating isn't leather. Fit is very good and comfortable but you need to wear long socks above the top of the boot to avoid annoying pokes from the top seam. May 19, 2015
Boots are fat/round in toe area Boot is not the same design style as Firstgear Hi mess boot. Looks and feels like Beetle Bailey (old comic strip) style cut. I am size 11 in these boots I am a 12.Good for the price but if I was to do it again I would probably buy Tour Master boots in the same price range. March 31, 2015
Nice boots I wore these for about 4000 miles last year and they worked great. No real signs of wear. They've been completely waterproof so far. I hated the white stitching so I Sharpied over it! I put in a thicker insole from another pair of shoes and they've been warm and comfortable. I wear 10.5 street shoes and the 11 is perfect. March 29, 2015
Great for touring/commuting Only had these boots for a couple months now, but have ridden with them in the rain and cold several times and I'm very please. They're also surprisingly comfortable. My foot size is typically 10.5 EEE, but I ordered size 11 based on other reviews, and they fit very nicely. December 29, 2014
Good so far It always take me a while to get used to new gear and this pair is no exception. They are taller, and stiffer than my older boots, but offers a lot more protection than the other boots that I currently have. Since I bought the boots, it has been cooler weather and I haven't gotten a chance to ride a lot. At first I thought the boots were to stiff and a little narrow, but with a little wear they are getting a lot better, and I think by summer they will be fine. I normally wear a 11 1/2 D and these boots are 12 normal and they fit good, but slightly on the tight side. I have not ridden in any rain so I don't know how water proof yet. December 8, 2014
Comfortable but Definitely not WP These boots are great if you only ride in dry weather. I've worn these boots for a little more than 10k miles in all types of weather and terrain. - Comfortable while riding and walking. No complaints with fit or comfort. - Easy to put on/take off - Good airflow to keep your feet from getting overheated - Good support - The lever protection pads wore through in no time but the material underneath has held up well - My biggest complaint is that they call these boots waterproof which is quite a stretch by any means. My Darn Tough merino wool socks were the only reason my feet were not uncomfortable on wet rides. November 28, 2014

Shawn C: I needed an all-around boot I could ride with that could stand up to rain. I had been using combat boots for quite a long time and was displeased with how they would sometimes slip on surfaces. So far the Kili Hi boots have been absolutely wonderful. I wish they didn't look quite as "moon booty" as they do but I am glad for the protection they provide. Apr 29, 2014
Joe T: Firstgear brand. Need water proof boot. Mar 13, 2014

ROBERT C: I was looking for a replacement for my worn out Tourmaster boots. I commute to work and I always wear good protective boots when I ride. I have always liked Firstgear products and I have been reading about the Kili Hi for a while now. I think they are just what I've been looking for. The boot went on sale for Black Friday so I jumped on it. The reviews on Revzilla are all good, it looks good, and I think I just scored a nice pair of boots. Nov 29, 2013
Felipe L: Good reviews, fare price, nice design. Nov 3, 2013
A shopper asked: Can this boot be resoled once the sole is worn down, or must I purchase a new pair of boots? Sep 11, 2014

Robert H: The Firstgear Kili boot soles are holding up well after eighteen months of nearly daily use. They replaced a set of Oxtars that were five years old and in need of re-soling, but they were also worn through in the toes, so I opted to replace them.

I understand (although I have yet to pursue this option) that a full-service shoe repair shop can glue a new sole to worn boots. I opted to protect the wear points of the leather uppers with "Tuf Toe," a plasitcized product used by baseball players and others to protect the toes of athletic shoes.

Jason A: My first answer would be no, the boot is not designed as a traditional stitched on base/sole. However it may be possible to adhere a layer of tread on it if worn.

I would compare the construction of the boot to Hi-tech boots and or lower end Bates military styled boots. For the price esp if on sale, it's relatively a wear, wear out and replace boot.

Dennis F: Your question really needs to be answered by Firstgear or a shoe repair shop. My best guess would be they cannot be resoled. The existing sole appears bonded or even molded with the upper and the entire sole, toe to heel is a single unit. Sep 12, 2014

A shopper asked: Looking at purchasing a pair of Firstgear Kili Hi WP boots, my feet measure 10 7/8" long. usually wear a size 10 1/2, occasional 10's what size of the Firstgear Kili should I order?

What's the policy on ordering 2 pair of boots (maybe a 10 and an 11), keeping 1 pair that fits and returning the other?

Thank you! Dave

Christopher S: Dave,

I ordered a pair of these last year in a size 9, obviously much smaller feet than yours. They fit me pretty well, maybe very slightly large but not by much. With a pair of average sport socks (not thin dress socks) they are good. I'm tempted to tell you to get 11s, just in case the 10s are small.

My wife ordered a couple things in different sizes, and returned the ones that didn't work out. They have great return policies! Very simple process.

Jason A: I wear a 10.5 US in almost all brands of boots (Bates. Cocorans, Danners),
sneakers are 10.5 as well (Addidas, New Balance)
I purchased a size 11 in the Kili. They are a tad bit less snug than my normal 10.5s. With a decent sock they fit pretty well.

Dennis F: I can't respond regarding Policy, but I can shed some light on the sizing. I normally wear an 8 or 81/2. I ordered size 9 US or 42 cm in metric. They fit great. Took them on a 23 day ride and were comfortable in all conditions. Hope this helps. Mar 10, 2014

A S asked: I would like to know how heavy are these boots? How heavy are the Tour Master WP boots? I am looking for a boot that is good for all day wear and not as heavy as my Durango Harness boots. Jun 22, 2015

Jim W: These are excellent boots. I use mine for cool to cold weather riding with wool socks. Comfortable for long rides or walking around between rides. The zipper, gator and Velcro flap make for a good waterproof and dry foot on a wet ride. Highly recommended!! Jun 22, 2015
