Nice boots I wore these for about 4000 miles last year and they worked great. No real signs of wear. They've been completely waterproof so far. I hated the white stitching so I Sharpied over it! I put in a thicker insole from another pair of shoes and they've been warm and comfortable. I wear 10.5 street shoes and the 11 is perfect. March 29, 2015
Great for touring/commuting Only had these boots for a couple months now, but have ridden with them in the rain and cold several times and I'm very please. They're also surprisingly comfortable. My foot size is typically 10.5 EEE, but I ordered size 11 based on other reviews, and they fit very nicely. December 29, 2014
Good so far It always take me a while to get used to new gear and this pair is no exception. They are taller, and stiffer than my older boots, but offers a lot more protection than the other boots that I currently have. Since I bought the boots, it has been cooler weather and I haven't gotten a chance to ride a lot. At first I thought the boots were to stiff and a little narrow, but with a little wear they are getting a lot better, and I think by summer they will be fine. I normally wear a 11 1/2 D and these boots are 12 normal and they fit good, but slightly on the tight side. I have not ridden in any rain so I don't know how water proof yet. December 8, 2014
Comfortable but Definitely not WP These boots are great if you only ride in dry weather. I've worn these boots for a little more than 10k miles in all types of weather and terrain. - Comfortable while riding and walking. No complaints with fit or comfort. - Easy to put on/take off - Good airflow to keep your feet from getting overheated - Good support - The lever protection pads wore through in no time but the material underneath has held up well - My biggest complaint is that they call these boots waterproof which is quite a stretch by any means. My Darn Tough merino wool socks were the only reason my feet were not uncomfortable on wet rides. November 28, 2014
Solid Boots These are great, definitely waterproof, definitely comfortable on/off the bike, definitely built to last, and definitely going to keep your feet/ankles safe and dry while riding. They're easy to put on-- love the zipper/velcro gaiter. My only complaint is the bottom of the gaiter cover (the leather that pulls over the zipper to velcro closed) tends to stick out a bit, just right where the leather comes together on the seam. It's totally an aesthetic issue, and I only think about it when putting the boots on and taking them off. While riding, the boots are the last thing I'm thinking about, as it should be. Waterproof??? The boots are claimed as waterproof, but this is not true in real life (also depend what the Firstgear mean under waterproof?) I do ride every day around 100 km round trip (Vancouver BC). Last month of riding October - November rain all days. The boots were ok for "waterproof" couple rain days, but after that got worse day after day. I've tried to apply "waterproof spray" solution for leather - did not help well. Almost after less than a month sole become loose on some points. 9 month later lose are loose half way from the back. But if you are riding in dry environment, - this boots are comfortable to wear: ride, walk, stay and they are worm as well. Just not waterproof. November 7, 2014
Nice Boot for the price I like these boots so far. They were comfortable out of the box, although I think they'll be more comfortable as they break in. I normally wear a size 11-11.5 and ordered a size 11 per the size chart. They fit fine, but if you have a wide foot, you might want to choose a size up. They are a little narrow for me, but I think they'll loosen up once broke in. I rode in the rain on a commute recently and my feet stayed dry, so check on waterproof. Fit and finish is good and they look like they'll hold up for the long haul. October 7, 2014
Great looking multifunction boot. I ordered this and the Roam boot as I couldn't decide without trying them on. Both are very comfortable, but the Kili has the style edge. I also prefer the zip and closure on the inside. Boot is on and off without a hitch. Easy to walk in and just right for riding. I have a vintage Triumph and a Kwack Ninja and wanted something that would look right and function on both. Sizing is good. I wear a 10 med. shoe and normally would get a 44 (10.5) boot, but as Firstgear skips that size, I ordered a 10 (43) and seems to fit fine. Only negatives might be the minimal insole which I replaced. The gearchange pad is a bit glitzier than the one shown and and I had to tone it down. Love the boot's contrast stitching, but polished over it lightly to tone it down some as well. No rainy weather yet so don't know how waterproof. Not worried. Bang for the buck is high. Over all, ticks all the boxes for me. Most other review comments were right on as well which helped too. Of course, turnaround was super fast and return of the Roams was a cinch. Thanks Zilla. Shawn C: I needed an all-around boot I could ride with that could stand up to rain. I had been using combat boots for quite a long time and was displeased with how they would sometimes slip on surfaces. So far the Kili Hi boots have been absolutely wonderful. I wish they didn't look quite as "moon booty" as they do but I am glad for the protection they provide. Apr 29, 2014
Joe T: Firstgear brand. Need water proof boot. Mar 13, 2014

ROBERT C: I was looking for a replacement for my worn out Tourmaster boots. I commute to work and I always wear good protective boots when I ride. I have always liked Firstgear products and I have been reading about the Kili Hi for a while now. I think they are just what I've been looking for. The boot went on sale for Black Friday so I jumped on it. The reviews on Revzilla are all good, it looks good, and I think I just scored a nice pair of boots. Nov 29, 2013
Felipe L: Good reviews, fare price, nice design. Nov 3, 2013
A shopper asked: Can this boot be resoled once the sole is worn down, or must I purchase a new pair of boots? Sep 11, 2014

Robert H: The Firstgear Kili boot soles are holding up well after eighteen months of nearly daily use. They replaced a set of Oxtars that were five years old and in need of re-soling, but they were also worn through in the toes, so I opted to replace them.

I understand (although I have yet to pursue this option) that a full-service shoe repair shop can glue a new sole to worn boots. I opted to protect the wear points of the leather uppers with "Tuf Toe," a plasitcized product used by baseball players and others to protect the toes of athletic shoes.

Jason A: My first answer would be no, the boot is not designed as a traditional stitched on base/sole. However it may be possible to adhere a layer of tread on it if worn.

I would compare the construction of the boot to Hi-tech boots and or lower end Bates military styled boots. For the price esp if on sale, it's relatively a wear, wear out and replace boot.

Dennis F: Your question really needs to be answered by Firstgear or a shoe repair shop. My best guess would be they cannot be resoled. The existing sole appears bonded or even molded with the upper and the entire sole, toe to heel is a single unit. Sep 12, 2014

A shopper asked: Looking at purchasing a pair of Firstgear Kili Hi WP boots, my feet measure 10 7/8" long. usually wear a size 10 1/2, occasional 10's what size of the Firstgear Kili should I order?

What's the policy on ordering 2 pair of boots (maybe a 10 and an 11), keeping 1 pair that fits and returning the other?

Thank you! Dave

Christopher S: Dave,

I ordered a pair of these last year in a size 9, obviously much smaller feet than yours. They fit me pretty well, maybe very slightly large but not by much. With a pair of average sport socks (not thin dress socks) they are good. I'm tempted to tell you to get 11s, just in case the 10s are small.

My wife ordered a couple things in different sizes, and returned the ones that didn't work out. They have great return policies! Very simple process.

Jason A: I wear a 10.5 US in almost all brands of boots (Bates. Cocorans, Danners),
sneakers are 10.5 as well (Addidas, New Balance)
I purchased a size 11 in the Kili. They are a tad bit less snug than my normal 10.5s. With a decent sock they fit pretty well.

Dennis F: I can't respond regarding Policy, but I can shed some light on the sizing. I normally wear an 8 or 81/2. I ordered size 9 US or 42 cm in metric. They fit great. Took them on a 23 day ride and were comfortable in all conditions. Hope this helps. Mar 10, 2014
