Dainese Thorax Wave Pro 4.7 5 13 13
I would definitely recommend In the interest of full disclosure, 80 degrees is the hottest temp i have had the opportunity to ride in with this on. I wore it under the rev'it ignition jacket. The airflow was much more than expected which is fantastic. As others have mentioned, I pray I never have to put this product to the ultimate test but if i do, I feel confident that I have taken a critical step to giving myself the best possible shot at walking away. RIDE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLY. May 20, 2013
Worth the Money I am actually surprised at how comfortable the Thorax Wave Pro is, although I have only worn it under nylon and not my tighter fitting leather jacket. Regardless, I recently took a spill (before purchase) and hit my chest plate into the bars. I got off lucky with severe bruising but I am convinced this would not have happened if wearing the TWP. Very hard but flexible body armor. Dainese seemed to have thought of everything for protection with comfort. Styling with Dainese goes without saying. I only gave it a four (out of five stars) because nothing's perfect but the TWP is worth the money and my wife was all too happy to see me walk out the door wearing it. May 20, 2013
bought this as a last minute purchase after listening to other racers I bought this last minute I usually wear just the spine protector , but decided I needed just a little more protection for my first race with WMRRA this season the fit was awesome once I zipped up the leathers this thing just molded to my body perfectly didn't feel bulky what so ever and gave me a sense of confidence I was looking for placed 3rd in both days of racing first rain race ever on the first day double podium both day April 29, 2013
Thorax Wave Pro FTW! I will never get on my motorcycle without it! Feels as if my upper body is protected 100% April 16, 2013
Complete torso protection This combination chest and back protector is exactly what I was looking for. It offers the maximum protection with complete comfort. It's nice to know that I can take off any part of the protector if I choose too (I doubt I ever will though) and I can wear it under anything that I would ride in (I never ride without a leather jacket, no matter how hot it is) and I barely know I have it on. I hope I never have to test it, but based on all the MotoGP and Superbike crashes I've seen of riders wearing Dainese, I'm confident that I'm well protected. November 11, 2012
This product appears to provide professional protection. The thorax wave pro looks to be constructed well. The fit is great, and it works well under my jacket. I can actually feel airflow even when it is worn under a perforated jacket. I hope I do not have to test it, but I am sure it will provide more protection than the standard padding in most jackets. Great product! This back protector fits perfectly under my one piece track suit. It's comfortable and looks and feels top quality. The only downside is the price, but hey, it's cheaper than medical bills if it helps prevent injury. December 20, 2011
Excellent quality and good fit. I'm 5', 7" with a 32" waist an 36" chest. I bought a small and it fits great but only in a tucked in position. When sitting up straight it rides up on your neck and causes a bit of discomfort but that can easily be fixed by adjusting the straps. It's also a bit bulky under my leathers and makes me look round. I leathers a fairly tight and typically give me a slim look but with the protector on my chest an back looks bulky. Either way I won't leave home without it. I just bought a set of leathers one size up and now it feels great. On TD's I don't even know it's there. I highly recommend this. December 19, 2011

Answer:
The Dainese Thorax Wave Pro has a bit of extra scapula protection, while the Wave Chest Pro does not. The Wave Chest Pro does, however, go a little farther down your spine. I think it looks cooler too, but that's largely irrelevant.

Does the size SMALL come with a size 11 for the back protector? Medium comes with a 12 wave back protector, and Large comes with a 13 wave back protector? It looks like this is true from the Dainese website.

However, the product review video says the back is always 12 despite the Small, Medium, and Large size.

How bulky is this armor under a race suit? And, how does it compare to the ForceField Extreme Harness Flite in protection & bulkiness? Which is the best value for canyon riding/ track?

Thanks.

Answer:
All armor is designed specifically to fit comfortably under a properly sized race suit. Both the Thorax Wave Pro and the Extreme Harness Flite are very comfortable and based on customer feedback you will forget you are even wearing protection when you are out on the track or on a spirited road ride. A notable difference when comparing the two is Thorax Wave Pro offers more coverage in the shoulder blade and rib areas. Both systems offer EN1621-2:2003 (Level 2) Back Protection and we would be hard pressed to offer a value suggestion when it comes to safety.

I have a bleeding disorder which causes my joints to hurt and be injury prone and am looking for some apparel that really will provide the best impact protection in the event of a crash. I ride a GS1200, I need a jacket and pants for a fairly broad 3 season, predominately road with some non-paved. I looked at some of the closesout Shift summer jackets, and some pricier things, also the padded shorts and padded undersuits. Seeing these different items in person would be best, but asking questions is second best. If possible, I would love to hear which items would be recommended in the whole price spectrum. I don't want to get low low end but I probably won't be forking over Klim prices either. Help!! and thanks in advance if you are able to answer this question.

Answer:
Look at the Olympia AST or Bushwacker jackets. Both are designed for 3-4 season ADV riding and will fit you and your GS well. I have a Olympia Bonneville and love it! Olympia also has CE approved armor throughout (including the back!). The AST is better for colder climates, Bushwacker better for hotter weather.
