Dainese Super Speed D-Dry Jacket 4.4 5 16 16
Cool Commuter Jacket in cool weather! I bought this jacket because of my year round commute from school to work (Mountain View, CA to San Francisco, CA). I have used it in temps as low as 35 to 75 degrees. I chose this jacket because of styling and the interior liner over the standard Super Speed Textile. The liner is pretty decent, it feels ok on the skin until you sweat and the finish is nice. It is a little too short when wearing stand alone however. It is nice that you can pull it out and use the jacket in mesh form, but I have not done it because its a little hassle to take out the liner. Armor is great, It's the same armor found in my Dainese Racing Jacket and inspires confidence. Sizing. I am 5'10 and 175-185 Lbs. with a 39-41 inch chest and developed arms. It is a snug fit in a size 50 Euro, I might be able to fit a very slim hoody for a little more warmth but not much else. PS, if you leave the liner in and tend to sweat like me, it helps to wear a long sleeve shirt so you don't stick to the jacket. July 19, 2016
Dream Jacket Ive had many different jackets over the years but this one far exceeds any one i had before. The only reason i didn't give protection 5 bars is because you have to buy the back protector insert separately. I mean for 400+ dollars you would expect something. other than that this jacket is a dream. you forget its on most of the time. the D-Dry liner is super light and easy to carry around. favorite thing is the cuffs are buttons not zippers that break or velcro that fades over time. great feeling and looking jacket. Would recommend with caveats I have used this jacket for nearly 1,000 miles. The bulk of these miles were on a several day trip with occasional rain and temperatures in the 50s and 60s. It held up very well, and I am satisfied with my purchase. Pros: * It's very versatile. I've worn it in rainy, cold, and warm weather, and it's always done well. The waterproof liner is the source of the versatility: have it in, and you can ride in the wet and cold; have it out, and you can ride in warm weather. * It's stylish. * It offers a lot of protection (although I find the chest protectors uncomfortable, so take them out for touring. * It'll zip into Dainese pants. Cons: * The material of the liner irritates raw skin, so you need to wear long sleeve shirt or the like -- a turtleneck would be ideal, but I don't own any of those. * I wish the zippers were a little bigger. They can be tough to grab with heavy gloves. * I wish it had an internal pocket in the liner. I'd like to stash my phone there. Instead, I put it in the chest protector pocket, which is not ideal, but... * It's not very comfortable with the chest protectors. So I recommend the jacket, but not whole-heartedly. I'd feel differently if it were a little cheaper. The price isn't terrible; I just expected a few more refinements at the price point. May 2, 2016
Itz gud. If you ever have the chance to go to the revzilla showroom floor in philly, flippin do it(I live like 5 minutes away :D). The staff is super awesome and friendly and and are actual riders too. They helped me choose the right jacket for my needs (I ride all weather and all seasons except snow). I'm not used to buying actual numbered sizes and they steered me towards a size smaller than I would normally wear (48 which is a smallish medium. I'm 5'8" 165lb. 31.5 waist). It's very snug yet comfortable and fits suprisingly well. The bottom of the jacket wears a little high but it includes a zipper to attach motorcycle pants. If you just wear jeans (hopefully the kevlar kind) like i do, tuck your shirt in with a belt to hide those lower back tattos you may have lol. The included waterproof liner helps dissipate wind for the cooler days and is removable for the hot summer months. It's not standalone though unless you are keen on exposing your midrift. It's about 2 inches shorter than the bottom of the jacket. It's definitely not a year round jacket but it's versitile enough for spring to early fall. If you live in a temperate climate you should really also invest in a cold weather jacket too because this one doesn't really work well in the cold, even with base layers (it gets too tight if you try to add more than 1 or 2 layers underneath. I highly recommend it, but make sure to really check the size chart and measure yourself. I had the luxury of actually trying the jackets on before purchasing and I went through several sizes before finding the one that fits me best. May 1, 2016
Great jacket I've had this jacket for a while now and I love it. I'm about 5'10" around 145 with an athletic build and the jacket fits me perfectly. I really like the protection and ability to wear this in multiple seasons. I've worn this in temps as low as 40 and with some layers, been able to keep warm. The air flow seems fine, but I haven't worn the jacket in really hot weather yet. I've worn this in some light rain and the jacket kept me dry. I did go ahead and purchase the back protector and it fits just fine. Overall, I'm really satisfied with this jacket and would definitely recommend it. Of course, Revzilla makes it so easy to find the perfect gear. March 26, 2016
Great Three Season Jacket I've had this jacket for about 3k miles mostly commuting. I'm about 5'10" 155lbs and wear a size 48 euro which fits snug. The jacket looks awesome and is super comfortable except for the waterproof liner which tends to irritate my neck if fully closed. This is a three season jacket dependent on your temperature tolerances. It vents awesome, almost a little too awesome once the temperature starts to drop. For my commutes to work I have been adding a few layers under the jacket for when the temperature dips down into the 40's and its comfortable. As for protection the armor is solid and stays right where its supposed to. I have added a Klim D30 Viper back protector for extra protection and it fits perfectly. Another nice feature is the jacket has a 360 zipper that pairs with Dainese pants. I have the Drake Air pants and they zip together securely adding for a little extra protection. My only real gripe with the jacket is that the aluminum shoulder inserts get dented and scratched super easy. All together this is a great jacket and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind paying the premium price. October 28, 2015
Great jacket Great textile jacket, removable liner for summer or winter riding, bought the dainese back protector and it fits in simply, shoulder and elbow armor are comfortable, and the jacket is a comfortable quality item and looks great. September 28, 2015
A good choice Only real complaint is the collar on the d-dry liner...feels like Dainese put a size 50 collar on a size 48 jacket. In the product image you can see the ripples/folds created when everything's snapped in, I don't usually ride in the rain, so the liner hangs in the closet...making it a non-issue. For the slightly more muted styling alone, it's worth the extra money to get this jacket over the standard Super Speed Textile, add in the peace of mind that you could (if you didn't mind a little neck discomfort,) ride in the rain and come out on the other end dry as a bone....makes this jacket a no brainer.
