Dainese Spedio D-Dry Jacket 4.6 5 25 25
Excellent overall This was part of my first purchase on RevZilla, and first purchase of rain gear. I'm overall impressed by this jacket. I wore it only without the waterproof layer so far, in the high 70s to mid 80s, here in Hawaii. I took a little bit of rain at some point, but the outer shell seems quite water resistant, so I was only wet through the mesh panels. I already had a Dainese jacket, size 50, and this one was also a perfect match in size 50. It feels very light, so I don't feel as protected as in my leather jacket, but that may just be an impression. November 24, 2014
Great 3-season jacket with some minor quibbles I bought this for overall value. It's not a cheap jacket by any means but with the liner and the super-ventilated shell, it was a way for me to get rain coverage and hot-weather ventilation all in one jacket. For that, it works really well. I regularly check for new products and I don't see any that look as nice with the same features at a lower price. What I like about the Spedio: - Subdued graphics (I love Dainese but would never buy a jacket with a giant Demon logo or wording across the chest). - Decent manufacturing quality (made in Algeria). - Nice trim arms that place the armor correctly, no need for tie-down straps. - Moves TONS of air with the liner out. Even on a 90-deg day, as soon as you get moving you can feel the air hitting your chest and shoulders. - Wind is stopped dead with the liner in. I rode in 55-deg weather with nothing but a t-shirt underneath, D-Dry liner and the jacket, and the warmth level was perfect. I think it would work perfectly fine down to 40 degrees with a thin thermal vest or sweater. Quibbles: - It runs maybe 1/2 size large. If you are in between sizes, you might go down. For example, I can barely put on a Dainese leather race-cut jacket in 48 (the right size for me), but I could put on the Spedio even in a 46. - The "leather" trim on cuffs and collar is not leather at all. I would expect a company so renowned for their leathers to at least avoid vinyl. I hope these areas don't start cracking after a few years. - The pockets are not thought out well. The slash pockets on the outside are hard to operate with gloves, and if I forget to close them, things could easily fall out while riding. The single inside pocket opens horizontally, also not easy to operate and it has very little space. An inside slash pocket added would improve it a lot. Also, since these pockets are attached to the air shell and not the liner, they are not waterproof at all. The liner has no pockets. - Pit vents or small rear exhaust zippers could easily have been added, but nothing of the sort here. Overall, it's a solid jacket. For me living on the west coast, this jacket is seriously year-round. If you like the looks and the price is right for you, I would recommend it. Note: I used the Forcefield CE2 Dainese-type back protector. It fits snugly but correctly. September 25, 2014
Very nice jacket. I now have 6000 miles in this jacket. I spent 6 - 12 hour days in it on the interstate in June and July mid 80s to mid 90s temperatures. From arid NW climate to Southern Oklahoma humidity. 400 miles of down pouring rain in it as well. It even keeps you comfortably warm on those cool nights with the liner in. I purchased this jacket based on the knowledgeable video RevZilla put out on it. Everything they put out on this jacket held true and then some. It performed in the rain at interstate speeds better than I expected. I was protected by its built in armor , kept dry with the rain liner in, and there was plenty of air flow to keep the body temp down with the liner removed on hot dry days. This Dianese D dry is worth every penny spent. This jacket has made me a believer in "all the gear, all the time" I cant leave the house without it now. Bob Mayo August 4, 2014
my first jacket, really satisfied I live in San Diego and I need a jacket that I can wear all year round. This jacket works great. The removable liner is really light and it doesn't bother me when on even if I wear a light sweater. Without the liner there is a lot of air flowing. I rode in Palm Springs at the end of May and had no problem with 102 degrees air temperature. The size fits as described in the video/size chart. May 27, 2014
Perfect Jacket for Hot or Cool weather This jacket is perfect for desert riding where the temperatures can jump above 100 degrees during the day but also dip below 50 degrees at night in the same day. The jacket and liner works as advertised and the design and functionality is right on. The materials of the jacket right down to the buttons and zippers have a quality feel to them and details that let you know nothing was overlooked. Definitely would recommend this jacket if you are on the fence and are looking for a three season jacket. April 16, 2014
Dainese fan I have owned many dainese products over the years and never had a problem with sizing. Currently I own a Dainese Teren and the Aspide Textile jacket and im a size 52 on both. The Spedio arrived today and amazingly my size 52 is too big. This is to the point that my elbow armor is entirely on my forearm. Just weird. March 27, 2014
Comforable, Functional, Sharp! Very true to fit, 6" tall 162 Lbs, 41 Inch chest, wearing a 15.5"-35" dress shirt, the chest fit with the liner and 2 under layers for cold weather fits snug and comfortable. Pull the liner and with a t-shirt the jacket has more room, but not excessive. Flows enough air for 90+ Phoenix weather. The shoulder armor can be moved a bit for placement, and the elbow/forearm armor can be moved within the sleeve. Waist adjustment is good and can be sinched for a 32 waist without looking all bunched up. Only issue is the sanitized-type inner liner. It is not stitched to a majority of the inner jacket structure to hold the torso/shoulders in place. Obviously the armor shifts with the liner, and chasing the sleeves take a little extra pre-ride adjustment, but it seems to stay in place throughout a 6 hour ride, and turns heads at every red light. March 26, 2014
Great multi-season jacket! This jacket is awesome, a great investment. I've been using this jacket all year now and can say that I am truly impressed by the quality from Dainese. Its lightweight, very versatile and sexy looking. The sizing of this seems true to size. I got a 36 in chest and size 46 fits spot on. The armor sits properly in place and even with the air wave back protector in it is still very lightweight and doesn't even bother me. I have been caught in the rain a few times with this jacket and can say it is waterproof with the inner liner inside. The air flow is nice, I can feel air coming from walking around. Under 50 degrees I would probably get something more beefy because just the jacket alone wont really keep you very warm. Only small issue with this jacket is the neck collar is a bit too snug, I have to really squeeze my neck in to get it secure. All in all this a great jacket I definitely recommend it! RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Patrick A: Loved the Dainese air-flux textile I bought and needed a rain jacket because besides being hot Hawaii has also sudden rain showers. On cloudy days I take out the liner and when it looks like rain the liner goes back in easy. I've used the jacket when I got caught in a heavy shower. Jeans were soaked, top stayed dry. Love it! My favourite riding jacket so far. Nov 14, 2014

Just wondering if it'll looks like you are wearing the wrong size... I really like the Italian/european fit...

A s: Hello
The liner is really thin but of a very unique material to cut wind, moisture but keep you warm. It's small enough to fold up and put under a seat.
I have a vanson as well and without a liner it is very bulky compared to the spedio.
Hope this helps

David F: The liner is very low profile. Without the liner, you definitely have the euro fit in the arms, biceps, and shoulders. Around the midsection, maybe it bunches a *little* in the riding position, but maybe that's my short build. Mar 7, 2014

Timothy M: The D-Dry liner is very thin and fits the jacket very closely, so fitment doesn't change when you remove it. Mar 7, 2014

A shopper asked: I've read some of the other Q & A about sizing and I'm a little concerned over what size would work for me. This jacket seems to have the features I desire, but I'm 5' 8" 150 lbs 40" chest. Are the arm lengths going to be an issue? The chart directs me to around a size 50, but that seems to be more appropriate for taller individuals. Aug 9, 2014

Jeremy M: I'm around the same size as you, maybe a touch thinner in the chest, but I went with the 46" and it fits very well. Not baggy when worn without liner, not too tight with liner. You'll probably be better off with a 48". The sleeves fit perfect for me too. Dainese does a great job of proportioning their gear. Aug 11, 2014

PERCIVAL C: I'm 6.0FT tall, 180-185 pounds and about 40-41 inch chest. I wear the 50 size and it fits perfect (snug). Sleeves' cuff rests just below the wrist bone. You may want to try a 48 if you are worried about the length...... Aug 9, 2014

A S asked: I'm wondering what pants are recommended with this jacket. Are there any 4 season pants with good ventilation that connect to the jacket or liner with zippers? Feb 6, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
PERCIVAL C: Dainese Jackets and Dainese Pants with built-in fastening features were designed to pair up seamlessly in my understanding. However, I would not recommend this jacket to be paired up with any of the four-season trousers because this jacket will not protect you from the cold by itself. I use this jacket from mid-spring to mid-fall only. Hope this helps. Feb 6, 2014

A shopper asked: Jacket fit is great overall but arms fit a little looser than I expected. Arm protectors cover area well enough again just kind of looser than expected. Thinking a trip to the tailor is in order? Or is this a NO NO?

Thanks

A s: If it's loose while wearing it with the d-dry(which is thin) the size is too big for you. And it's not safe because armor will move around. I tried one on in San Francisco and bought it in Philadelphia to be sure of fit. It's a breathable jacket at best. Get a properly constructed jacket that fits. A tailor can alter but then there's no warranty or guarantee of safe construction. Oct 12, 2013

Esteban Y: I don't find it lose myself. Do you feel it lose even while wearing it with the d-dry membrane? Just take in mind that it should have enough room for that extra layer. Oct 1, 2013

A shopper asked: Hi there,
I have a Dainese Laguna Seca perforated leather jacket from '08. It's a size 50 and is perfect for me.
Has there been any change in the sizes at Dainese since then, or shall I be confident to pick up a size 50 for the Spedio?
Thanks!

A s: You didn't specify your measurements. Dainese size chart is pretty accurate. However, I wear a US 42 in everything since 1988. But the euro 52 was too big. Size 50 was perfect and with room for another thin layer. Good luck. Oct 12, 2014

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ronald H: Aspects of the jacket has reflective material. I was unsure as well thinking it was some sort of removable item but it is about extra areas on the jacket where reflective material was used instead of just plain. Aug 29, 2014

A shopper asked: I weigh 165lbs. about 6'2", chest around 99cm, arm 61 cm.....I don"t plan on heavy layering underneith, just maybe a thin snowboarding thermo underarmer shirt. I guess my concern is arm length, I have a short torso but long arms, with a thin build....I m leaning towards the 50?....any advice is appreciated Mar 27, 2014

PERCIVAL C: I wear the size 50 and it fits me perfectly (snug but ample room to wiggle). I am 180/185 lbs. 6FT tall and normal arms lenght. I had 52 but exchanged for 50. Size 52 felt loose and a bit too long at the wrists.
I hope this helps.

A shopper asked: Hey guys I have an Avro Leather jacket and this jacket looks amazing for summer for when leather is just crazy. But knowing Melbourne weather it likes to rain after being 35-40 degrees in the morning (Celsius). Would this liner fit in the Avro jacket for winter time etc? Our winters don't get that cold so it should be pretty good, we just get a bit of rain.
Thanks!
Feb 27, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: The liner in the Spedio will not fit into the Avro. It's an extra funky one, with buttons and snaps and all kinds of things that aren't compatible with any other jacket. Keep in mind though, the thermal liner in the Avro is quite bushy - great for cooler temperatures. If you're worried about freak rainstorms, check out some rain gear - the Bruxelles Two-Piece, for example. Feb 27, 2013

SIZING INSTRUCTIONS

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chest: Measure from under/top of armpit across chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
  • Gloves: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.
