Dainese Nighthawk C2 GTX Boots

Practicality and style come together in the Dainese Nighthawk Boots made with a breathable, waterproof Gore-Tex membrane. Elevated comfort is ensured even under adverse weather conditions thanks to details like the reflecting insets at the heel and sides that can be seen through the cowhide upper and elasticated suede inserts. The special technical solutions adopted satisfy even the most demanding touring motorcycle riders: zippers at the sides and VELCRO® brand closures for a better fit, nylon inserts over the ankles, thermoformed inserts on the toe and heel, TPU gear change guard, and a non-slip sole with low traction for smoother movement.

  • Thermoformed insert on the shin
  • Nylon inserts on the ankles
  • Boot certified to CE - Cat. II - EN 13634/2010 Standard
  • Cowhide leather construction

Ergonomics and Comfort:

  • Closing with Velcro
  • Closing with zipper at the side
  • Breathable waterproof Gore-Tex membrane
  • Perforated leather

  • Rubber shift guard
  • Rubber sole
  • Reflective inserts

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chest: Measure from under/top of armpit across chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
  • Gloves: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.

Great Boots but Easily Scuffed I picked these up as my first pair of dedicated boots for my bike. I use them as commuter boots, they are comfortable on the bike and off of it. You could wear these all day if need be without much issue. They look great and are well designed, however I noticed that they are very easy to scuff and show wear fairly fast. It appears the most on the inside of the heel and toe area, basically anywhere you might rub against the bike. Grip is solid. I have yet to have an issue when putting my foot down, rain or shine. Another thing to note is that the velcro around the calf isn't the easiest to get a tight seal as it is very firm in its form. This isn't a hug deal but is worth noting as I tend to have a little extra room around the calf. It also may take some extra time to break it in further. As far as fit is concerned, I tend to wear between an 8 and 9 depending. A good comparison would be some LL Bean Katahdin's I wear at 8.5, which seem to be comparable to what I got here in length, height and width. Would I recommend this product? Probably. Definitely if it were on sale! November 2, 2015
great every day boot good look and comfortable. Great all around boot. Not to much not to little. You can actually walk with them on all day. Went to Billings Mt MOA rain, hail, the boot did great. And I a love the look. July 27, 2015
Definitely need to order the next size up I like the boots. They are easy to put on and you can walk in them (for a little while). I haven't put too many miles on them but when I used them it was way too hot and my feet were comfortable enough not to be a distraction - hopefully the Gortex works). June 29, 2015
Took them to a cobbler, never been happier I fell in love with the style of the Nighthawk while I was shopping for waterproof cold weather boots. I was a bit hesitant to engage in the European sizes, but the boots were to cool. I have wide/odd feet (10-1/2 W), so online shoes are a struggle. I purchased the boots, and when they arrived they were a bit too tight. I took them to a cobbler, had them widened and they worked like a charm. I even stood ankle deep in a 40 degree Montana river for a few minutes and stayed bone dry. They are a tad stiff, but they are durable as anything. Very happy with them. April 29, 2015
Great lightweight boot on or off the bike. I bought this boot specifically because I wanted a lighter boot that would be comfortable walking around off the bike, but that had decent support and protection on the bike. So far, this is exactly what this boot delivers. High quality construction. Fits exactly according to the size chart. Definitely a little stiff out of the box, but with use, it is breaking in nicely. February 17, 2015
Great boot, but order one size up Love the boot, waterproof, and easy to walk in. Good trade off for a little bit less protection, but gain in all day comfort. Make sure to order one size larger though, or even consider two sizes up if you plan on wearing heavy socks for road trips. August 29, 2014
Great Boot - I hope So - I only received these boots this morning, so it might be too early for a full review - but I'm off on a four day ride this week, so I'm sure to know more after that. They look great, feel good (well, perhaps a little stiff, but I've only had them on for 2 hrs). After looking, thinking, researching, I ended up coming back to these boots - I think I've been contemplating this purchase for a year or so! My aim is that these will become my day to day commuter boots, with the hope they work well enough in an office environment to wear most days. Anyhow, first impressions. Very nicely made, comfortable and easy to put on. They definitely look low key enough to wear under my jeans/pants at work. The sole is quite stiff, as is the leather, but I'm sure that will soften up a touch. The big thing for me is the fit - after reading all the reviews I went to a size 43, although I'm typically a size 42. I think I probably should have stayed with the size 42. It may be that the American v's European size chat is a little off, I'm not sure, but I often purchase shoes in Euro sizes, and 42 is my go to size. From looking at all the reviews, I can only guess that Dainese may have loosened up the fit a little, as I feel like I have slightly too much space around the main areas of my feet - although the toe box feels a little tight. With the velcro synched up nice and tight, the ankle fit is good. I'm not quite sure if the 42 would be better (my guess is that it would be fine), but to get the boots back and forth from Australia is a bit expensive/time consuming... so I'm going to wear some thick socks and see how they go. If it was more simple, I'd probably go for the 42, and try to loosen them up a bit. Anyhow - they do look great, I'll post back after breaking them in. Oh - and thanks Revzilla - this order came swiftly, with no hassles - love it! June 9, 2014
Great boot. Returned it immediately. I don't think I've ever written a glorious review about an item I immediately returned. The boot is a work of art. Belongs in a museum. But, it's for the very few whose foot size is just below the average and not wide. My foot is not wide but long. I wear 12 in Frye boots and their sizing happens to be perfect for me. But Dainese is an Italian brand and for those who have been in Italy, they like small. Small is quite big in Italy. Size 13 was still not large enough for my foot. The workmanship and craftsmanship are spectacular. I highly recommend it for those among you who are lucky enough to have... Italian feet. June 3, 2014

Tyler M: I never owned the first series of Nighthawks, but I would say it seemed to have plenty of room when trying on. The only problem I had was that the toes did not have enough room for me so I had to send them back. However, there is no doubt they are a quality made shoe. Mar 25, 2014

chris h: I have a fairly wide foot and these boots are very comfortable. They are actually overly wide (or loose) from the ankles up making them feel a little uncertain to stay on if you were to take a fall on the bike. Mar 25, 2014

Fajar A asked: I usually wear size 41, any advice what size of this boots will fit for me..? Jul 8, 2014

Shamus H: Well - I'd say get 41, if you usually fit a 41 "comfortably". I'm normally a "tight" 42 , but purchased a pair of 43 (based on reviews) - they seem a little loose, but I do get away with them. If I was a "comfortable" 42 I'm sure I'd have been much happier with getting the 42. In reading the reviews, there seems to be some who think the sizing chart comparison between the US sizes and the Dainese Euro sizes is on size different. I hope that helps... a bit. I'd be interested in seeing how you go :-) Jul 8, 2014

A S: I think 41 is the way to go for you. I wear 10.5 US and since there is no equivalent I went with 44 = 11 US which seems true to size for what I would expect a US 11 to be. Jul 8, 2014

Cody W asked: Should I size up to an 11.5? I am usually a size 11. Nov 15, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jonathan M: I found these boots to have a fairly full toebox and be close to an American D width. Because I am at the limit of 11.5D, I purchased the 46, which correlates roughly to size 12 American. With liner socks and mid-weight ski socks the fit is perfect. Given that I wanted these for colder weather, the arrangement couldn't be better. You should know that, at least in the beginning, it may be difficult to feel the controls with your feet in these boots. The material is quite rigid. It's not a problem on a bike you know well, but I accidentally upshifted without the clutch lever on my new bike as I was trying to feel out where my foot was in relation to the shifter. The problem gets worse if the boot is too large for a good fit. Nov 19, 2015

chris h: I am also a size 11. I did find that they were not a tight fit but that my big toe felt a little restricted. I used shoe blocks to stretch them out after each use and they are fine now. Can't say for sure if I'd have been better with a 1/2 size bigger but then I think the rest of the boot would be too loose. Nov 16, 2015

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
R D: I was not able to wear the boots at all. They were to thick at the toe and I could not shift the gears. I couldn't put the toe section under the gear shifter and I scuffed the toe section of the boot badl they are also real stiff to walk in. I do not recommend. Oct 5, 2015

A shopper asked: Hi, my question is if these boots are for winter or mostly for spring? Nov 23, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Christopher v: Guess it depends on what your winter is like, for me it means several feet of snow and ice. I can say that before the snow arrived this year, I rode at sub-freezing temperatures, the longest ride was about an hour. I wore these boots with just regular nylon socks. My hands were cold, but my feet were warm! Nov 23, 2014

A shopper asked: Hi,
Do you have this product size 13.5 ?
If not , I'd like a boot suitable for hot weather but also against water and provides good protection riding
what do you have to offer ?

A shopper asked: Hi.
I have read different opinions regarding the size of these boots.
My naked feet measures 10,8 inch long and 4 inch large, Could you please advise me about which size to choose? I leave abroad, so it is a mess to do returns and I would like to minimize the risk.
Thank you very much!
