meh Too many features for my old brain to figure out. This is much harder than programming my VCR. It works great in the driveway. As soon as we get on the road, I can no longer communicate with the other bike. When we stop as a stoplight, I pull up next to the other bike, open my face shield and try to talk to him, the Scala says "Ok. Radio on." Then it blasts loud static into my ears. The buttons are too difficult to operate with gloves on. The right earphone only works sometimes. It is often crackley. Maybe eventually I will be able to get the darn thing to work, but right now it is an endless source of frustration. June 23, 2014
Nice Improvement Own the G9. Upgraded to the G9x. Nice improvement. Only issue I have with it, is they have too many buttons. Wish they could make it simpler. Great Volume, Great Battery life, Nice FM radio reception. Pretty easy computer interface (won't work on Mac unless you have PC emulator of some sort). June 18, 2014
Decent headset In direct contrast to what others have said, I don't find sound quality to be bad on this. I had a G9 previously, and the G9x sounds markedly better to me. Of course, you're not going to get excellent sound quality when you're blasting it over wind noise and wearing ear plugs, but I can clearly hear what I'm listening to, so it works for me! My G9 was lost in a crash when it popped off the helmet dock. So seeing that the G9x added a locking tab to hold it in place was nice. It's not the easiest to use. Once it's working, it's fine, but I never seem to be able to get these things to pair properly. I've only ever used Cardo headsets though, so I don't really have much to compare to, unfortunately. Sound Quality! This product is made to be used on motorcycles! The speakers are weak, and whenever turned up loud enough to hear the treble is painful! If you're planning on listening to music, don't even think about it. If you've got a silent moped or something where you might not have to turn the sound up very loud then you might be okay, but on my GSX-R, the sound is terrible. Also, I've got an Icon Airframe helmet if it makes a difference. May 12, 2014
Good communications device Good stereo play from mobile phone. Easy to use. Excellent call quality. AGC can get a bit loud at speeds over 50. Haven't had the chance to link bike to bike and hope it's not an issue. April 21, 2014
Not so good on sound quality I have now had these over a year. The sound quality is very poor in my opinion. I'm a long distance rider and the battery at best last 4 hours of radio use or GPS. The bluetooth is impossible at best to connect. Not really happy with product. Wish it was different. April 1, 2014
Great functions bad speakers. I recently purchased the G9x for my Shoei RF1200. It works but man oh man for the price paid I Reallly expected better sound quality. The speakers are garbage in my opinion. Harsh, tinny sound with zero bass. I expected at least decent sound. The volume levels are sufficient and the auto volume adjustment works well. Radio reception is fairly poor even when installed per instructions and within 10 miles of radio transmitter tower. I'm now looking at spending additional money to get a set of speakers that sound halfway decent. Overall I'm happy with the usability but very unhappy with the sound quality. March 19, 2014

Garcia Ruiz A: I choosed it because my friends own this comunication device. The problem is it failed three months later and I have to pay a big diference to recibe a replacement. I think this is not fair. Probably is better choice to pick up a diferent comunication device just to avoid this warranty problems. I do not recomend this comunication device. May 28, 2014

Ronald L: Not the SMH10R. I tried to pair my Sena SMH10R with one of my buddy's Scala G4 - no go. However, the new Sena 20S supposedly can link with other brands. See the Gear Guide that just came out on Bluetooth Communicators! Apr 7, 2014
