meh
Too many features for my old brain to figure out. This is much harder than programming my VCR.

It works great in the driveway. As soon as we get on the road, I can no longer communicate with the other bike. When we stop as a stoplight, I pull up next to the other bike, open my face shield and try to talk to him, the Scala says "Ok. Radio on." Then it blasts loud static into my ears.

The buttons are too difficult to operate with gloves on.

The right earphone only works sometimes. It is often crackley.

Maybe eventually I will be able to get the darn thing to work, but right now it is an endless source of frustration.

Very nice unit
I had concerns that it would install on my Scorpion EXO 900, but to my surprise it did... Took about 45 min.
The sound quality and volumn is good.
The only complaint is that the control button are difficult with a gloved hand. It's great that the VOC works so well.
When receiving calls, my girlfriend and daughter didn't realize that I was on the bike!

Great idea, but it can be better
The Scala rider is great. I don't regret the high price tag one bit. There's so much good, but it is not absent from the bad. Sound quality could definitely be better, and the music playing mode is super confusing, as you'll be riding and it will turn on automatically, or shut off for no reason. At that point you have to either try and fiddle with unlocking your phone while you're riding(darn near impossible unless it's mounted on your bike somewhere) or pull over and fix it. Otherwise, I love it. Grttingn to talk with whoever I'm riding with is fantastic. I've never had an issue pairing up as well.

Use With Ear Buds
I had the G9 version but was disappointed with the audio quality, namely the volume level. I also did not like that I could not wear ear plugs anymore because I would not be able to hear the sound. The new G9X addressed both of those issues for me with the versatility to where ear buds for both sound clarity and hopefully sound noise protection. I still installed the speakers but I don't think I will ever use them. Now with the ear buds, I don't even have to have the volume at the maximum level anymore. The G9X has a lot of features, like the G9, but I probably won't use most of them. Because of this, the functionality of the unit is not too complicated. Just read the manual and familiarize yourself with the product. It starts to be intuitive once you use it. Overall the unit is a high quality piece and I feel like it can withstand any weather conditions I ride in. I would recommend it-with ear buds.

Great Communicator
I use my Cardo primarily to blue tooth my GPS/IPhone/Ipod. It was easy to get everything to pair up. The buttons are a little hard to use with gloves on. The speakers work pretty well but I want to try a pair of ear buds. Over all this is a great product.

Good stuff!
I purchased the g9x this spring, riding with friend is much easier with this device! I had some issues with sound quality and volume, but I swapped the provided speakers with a set tracks hd's and the sound is clean. I would recommend this product with alternate speakers~

Decent headset
In direct contrast to what others have said, I don't find sound quality to be bad on this. I had a G9 previously, and the G9x sounds markedly better to me. Of course, you're not going to get excellent sound quality when you're blasting it over wind noise and wearing ear plugs, but I can clearly hear what I'm listening to, so it works for me!

My G9 was lost in a crash when it popped off the helmet dock. So seeing that the G9x added a locking tab to hold it in place was nice.

It's not the easiest to use. Once it's working, it's fine, but I never seem to be able to get these things to pair properly. I've only ever used Cardo headsets though, so I don't really have much to compare to, unfortunately.

Not so good on sound quality
I have now had these over a year. The sound quality is very poor in my opinion. I'm a long distance rider and the battery at best last 4 hours of radio use or GPS. The bluetooth is impossible at best to connect. Not really happy with product. Wish it was different.

Great sound and durability
I abuse electronics. I don't use headsets for talking to other bikes. I use them for bluetooth for Garmin and IPhone6s. I have done 600 miles offroad with this new G9x and I love it. It is plenty loud, even with earplugs. On the road I really like the mic operated volume control when speed increases. Really easy for using the FM radio controls and answering the phone. My phone and GPS connect to it seamlessly. I will probably buy another instead of reinstalling it on other helmets. Good purchase.

I don't use to talk to other riders. The volume is great, even with earplugs, battery life great. Recharges quickly. Works with my GPS and Iphone6 with no issues. Only shortcoming is buttons can be hard to find with winter gloves.

I choosed it because my friends own this comunication device. The problem is it failed three months later and I have to pay a big diference to recibe a replacement. I think this is not fair. Probably is better choice to pick up a diferent comunication device just to avoid this warranty problems. I do not recomend this comunication device.

Is the g9x compatible with the schuberth systems? Does the g9x clamp onto my shoei helmet as well as the q3?
A shopper on Feb 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I used hot glue to mount G9 and G9x to Schuberth C3 helmet. Works perfect and can be removed if necessary
Hello I have a question regarding the G9x I'm using it right now on my full face Scorpion Helmet but getting a Modular helmet real soon and will switch between the two. Will I have to un connect from my full face helmet every time or is there another package I can purchase with attachments and use the same devise just switching it from helmet to helmet?
Thank you
nan f on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Check the Cardo website and post this question to them to get confirmation. But, I have purchased a replacement baseplate from Cardo before. So, for the cost of an additional baseplate (maybe $100?}, you could have a mount on more than one helmet and transfer the unit between helmets very easily.
how is the fit on a Shoei RF-1200?

Will this product work with non-Scala products such as Sena?
A shopper on Apr 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Not the SMH10R. I tried to pair my Sena SMH10R with one of my buddy's Scala G4 - no go. However, the new Sena 20S supposedly can link with other brands. See the Gear Guide that just came out on Bluetooth Communicators!
Is this compatible with the Q3 series?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, my buddy has a Q3 and I a G9X. No problem communicating after we pair.

WILL THIS UNIT WORK WITH HARLEY 14 TRIKE WITH BUILT IN GPS, AM/FM & PHONE. I TRIED THE UCLEAR 100+ & HAD NO SUCCESS. IT WOULD ONLY PAIR WITH SEPARATE IPOD?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You need to make sure you pair the GPS to the headset with the correct button for that and not the phone or mp3 player buttons.
