works well with one major flaw I really wanted to like this shield, and I did at first. The shield got dark in the California summer sun, and lightened up in the evening. It seemed to be a great addition to my gear. Then I took the shield on a 2000 mile ride through Oregon and Washington. It was mid June, but I still got caught in numerous rainstorms (and even some snow in the mountains). The problem with this face shield is that even when the sky is dark with storm clouds and it's raining like crazy, as long as the sun is still up behind the storm clouds, the shield will still be fully dark. So not only do you have limited visibility from the elements, the face shield is reducing that visibility to almost nothing. It became extremely dangerous very quickly. I guess this technology works with UV rays which unfortunately travel right through the clouds. So the only way I would recommend this face shield is if you use it only when you can be absolutely certain, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that you will not get caught in the rain (or even heavy overcast). It definitely limits its usefulness for sure, but using it in any sort of bad weather is very dangerous. I didn't see any warning to this effect when I purchase the shield, but I think Revzilla would be wise to add it to the product description. July 19, 2016
Expensive but worth it Pops right onto my Bell Star Helmet like any other Bell shield. It's expensive but allows you to carry only one shield with you. No need to stop & change your shield. Kinda makes it worth the $$$. I don't regret getting one. July 14, 2016
Why doesn't every manufacturer offer this? I've worn glasses since I'm 15 years old. They're a PITA. (But sill better than contact lenses.) Layer onto that a full-face helmet and UV protection and it's even more so. When I saw that the Bell photo-chromatic shield fit my helmet, I jumped on it. It's one of the best decisions I've made. I never have to worry about prescription sunglasses anymore as the shield conveniently adjusts to the sunlight. I like it so much, that I'll probably continue to buy Bell helmets that use this shield so I can swap it between buckets. It's pricey, but worth the convenience. June 13, 2016
This shield is great buy for anyone who commutes. I work odd hours, and my bike is currently my main transportation. I picked up this shield a few months ago and it works great. The transition from light to dark happens a few seconds after I walk out the door and matches the light conditions. I have a Bell Vortex helmet and this shield fits well. Its not an exact copy of the stock shield but fits very close to it. It's not going to get as dark as a standard tinted shield, but I feel like it's a good compromise if you don't want to keep a clear one with you. May 27, 2016
Convenient Nice not having to swap out visors or always carry sunglasses. The only thing I'd improve is their fit on the Bell Vortex Manifest Helmet; yes, it snaps on and fits the helmet as advertised, but lifting the visor up is not as smooth as the visor that came with the helmet. May 3, 2016
Expensive but great product When you first see the price tag for a shield you might watch your wallet run away but before you think about letting it get to far this shield is really great. When I ride at night it become perfectly clear. During the day it it turns dark and blocks out the glare. Sun hasn't bothered me since using it. The only issue I have is that it isn't completely fog proof. I have stopped at a light and my breathe fogged the lens up. Not completely cloudy but noticeable. April 12, 2016
Wanted to love it Been using for about two weeks now, it fogs up much more than my original visor, and i can see my reflection sometimes. The fogging up hasn't been bad enough for me to give up on it yet but it's definitely annoying and i kind of regret dropping the money i did. April 3, 2016
Don't even notice it, it works so well. Shady in sun, clear at dusk, it works just like you hope it does. The only reason I knocked off a star is that it should fit my Bell helmet a little better. It snapped right on but doesn't open/close as smoothly as the original visor, so I have to take a little more time with it than I'd like. March 22, 2016
