Bell Transitions SolFX Photochromic Face Shield
Great for commute
Living in SIngapore, weather is mostly really sunny, sometimes cloudy with rain and some tunnel on the way. This visor was a great improvement on the stock visor. I sometimes had to look away from sun glare when stopped at the traffic light; but no more! Speed of adjustment is good and it's always the right dark shade so far (not too dark/not too clear).

Expensive, but solid product
First off, it's a shield. It is what it is, but it's nice not having to swap out when the sun goes up and down. It does its job and I have no complaints other than I wish it got just a little bit darker. From the outside it looks plenty dark, but from inside it's not as dark as wearing a pair of sunglasses. My eyes are very sensitive to bright light and I have never experienced any discomfort with this shield, even when facing directly into the sun, so it does its job well. When I received it, the little plastic piece on the side would not stay screwed in on one side due to the hole in the shield being too small for the screw. I had to really work it in with a mini screwdriver to get it to stay in place. Gave 4 stars due to the shield costing more than my helmet (Bell Qualifier), issues with plastic tab being loose, and not quite as dark as I'd hoped.

This product generally does what it's supposed to, but definitely does not get any darker than a "light smoke", and is often fooled by the conditions. For instance if it's later in the day you can be riding directly into bright sun and the shield will hardly darken at all. It also seems to be fooled by rain? I was riding in a fairly steady downpour with very dark skies - and the shield was darkened!! These are the extremes however and under most conditions it works ok, I just wish it got a bit darker.

The transition side of this Shield is absolutely amazing. The down side of the shield is that anti-fog coating sucks.

great, but has issues
A photochromatic visor is really amazing to have because you never have to swap lenses or plan ahead. It's pretty sad that only a few companies sell them because I feel like it is a hard requirement for me when it comes to helmet options for city riding. This one is the best I've used. That said, I have two fairly significant problems with it:
The lens clarity is not nearly as good as other visors I've used - you can see ripples in the surface that distort your vision slightly. Not dangerous, but annoying.
The plastic piece on the left side that interfaces with the locking clip broke immediately on my helmet because I accidentally closed it while the locking switch was flipped to the locked position. My fault, but pretty easy to do and something to keep in mind if you have the visor.

nice product, a little pricey
The shield changes very quickly and always seems to be the right tint. Never too dark to see out. I'd buy it again in a minute.

Amazing how wonderful this works!
Well I must say the shields transitioning feature is amazing! it changes back and forth in a matter of seconds from dark to clear. It is exceptional for those who get caught riding after dark. With that said I have dozens of tinted shields and this one isn't as dark from the inside as a regular tinted shield but it serves its purpose and does so very well. Another cool feature is you can slap this bad boy on most of the full face Bell helmet line. I have read that the features fade over time but so far so good with me. Id absolutely recommend this product I think its great.
