Fantastic technology
Fantastic technology would be nice to if they could get it under a $100.00. For the price it should come with the recommended cleaning cloth.

Works but to much $$$
The shield works well, turns dark enough so sun glasses are not needed. I had to adjust both hinge plates quite a bit to get the proper seal as the face shield did not even touch the gasket but once adjusted all is good. I also feel the Bell's price for the shield it way to high as its just a coating on the shield so it may not last very long but time will tell

AWSOME
If you have a bell helmet and have more than 1 visor for day and night your a fool. This thing is great. It has your covered day or night, cloudy or bright. Buy one now.

A visor for night and day!
Since I have bought this visor I have already been stuck a work late a couple times, and it is great that I do not have to switch out my visor.
When clear, it is just as clear as a clear shield, but the dark tint is about 90% of what you would get if you bought a dark smoke visor.

Works well but scratches easily.
Let me start off by saying this shield works great, very convenient to not have to carry multiple shields, the transition happens very rapidly. This is the whole reason why I got into a Bell in the first place. Now the downside...
Just a couple days after I got it I saw taking my helmet out of my closet to ride to work. It just brushed against the door very lightly and BAM, a two inch long gouge in my $110 shield. For the price you pay for this shield I would expect some sort of anti scratch coating of something. This shield cost 1/3 of what I paid for the whole RS1 helmet, I'd like to have it last a while. For this kind of durability I'd rather buy plain $30 shields.
This is a common problem with Bell shields I think, even the stock shield scratched easilyy. Meanwhile my AGV shields can take a beating and never look worse for the wear.

Durability of shield?

How durable is this shield? The clear shield that came with my RS1 is getting pretty crazy pitted/scuffed after only about 2k miles of riding. I'd love one of these transitions shields but I cannot justify dropping this much if it's only going to last half a year.

Hey, i do some intense riding and so far with only normal care (I'll wipe it down maybe once a week), I am still scratch free. This is a durable shield. It is super thick and not only that, the simple stress savings you get from not having to carry around two shields is a perk. I don't necessarily recommend a Bell Helmet for the money conscious buyer (such as myself, although I just dropped a lot on the Black Beauty carbon RSD), although the price of this shield is definitely worth the bang for your buck. Transitions lenses are designed to last the lifetime of a prescription, which is typically two years.
In order to keep your prescription lenses current, regular, comprehensive eye exams are recommended to determine any prescription changes and help prevent any other eye problems. Talk to your eyecare professional or eye doctor to find out how often you should schedule a visit to preserve your eye health.
So make your own judgement as to longevity

I have been using my SolFX shield on my RS-1 since march, so only about 3 months now -- but so far they are showing no wear and they work very well. They are actually fairly scratch-proof as well. I bumped the shield into things a couple of times now (and kicked myself every time), and anything that looked like a scratch rubbed right out with a micro fiber cloth.i have a great deal of confidence in the shield overall -- and also, it is not manufactured by BELL, it's contracted but aftermarket

The Bell Photo chromatic Shield will fit the Bell Revolver. It can be a little fussy in the attachment phase, but it will fit just fine if you are patient. I don't know why this is, for the original shield will pop on and off in seconds. It is possible... I had a Star that came with a defective anti-fog. One drop of water and the whole thing crystallized (would have been a nightmare if it was while riding). My Bell Shields will fog (more of a weird haze than true fog. Simply vent for a second to clear but if it is nearing opaque it is either defective or you just have no venting at all (can cause any shield to get fogged or impaired). Make sure to NEVER use regular lens cleaner on the anti-fog side of the shield or its done.Age: 25-34

I have a Star with the gradient visor, but the same holds true for yours. Visors fog up. I use an antifog treatment, such as Clarify, and that helps. But even with that I often crack the shield up to the defog position with the lever on the side. Fog goes away when I move, which is what is important. Hope this helps and ride safe.Age: 55-64

I wouldn't. The manufacturer specified warm water and mild soap only and that's what I use. Plexus is a windshield cleaner - likely to include chemicals that could strip off the inside anti-fog coating.I've never had anything on the shield that warm water and mild dish soap, like palmolive or joy etc didn't easily remove if I give the warm water a little time to soften it up (like bugs).
Also, take seriously the recommendation to avoid paper towels - paper towels will slowly scratch the shield coating.
And NEVER try and clean it or wipe something off it when it's dry.
