The EVO2 50cc Scooter Battery is the smallest battery in our lineup and is intended for small scooters, motorcycles, and ATVs with a displacement of 50cc and under. The primary advantage of the EVO2 50 Battery is that it doesn’t discharge over extended periods of occasional use. This means you can leave your scooter in the garage for months and it will still start every time. At a retail price of less than $50 it is usually cheaper than the lead acid equivalent.

not the ideal motorcycle battery Great concept, tech specs look good, but battery start-up performance thus far during the winter months is not good. My BMW F800GS is almost impossible to start in colder temps. Ballistic Performance has a video posted showing start-up procedure in colder weather, and my experience is no where near as good as what's shown in the video. Two to four minutes trying to start-up, with the bike electrical system and my GPS and other electronics gear continuously resetting, is not good. However, I have decided to keep the battery and see how it does in spring and summer (reinstalled old lead battery for the remainder of the winter). There is a tremendous weight savings with the Ballistic Performance battery, and that high on the bike the weight is definitely noticeable. Hopefully the battery will function in a more acceptable manner in 60+ degree temps. March 13, 2014
Do not buy! Ballistic Performance Components recommended a 12 cell EVO2 battery for my 2010 BMW R1200 GS Adventure. This battery would not reliably turn my engine over especially when the temperature was lower than 50 F. The dealer arranged a replacement for me to try again. This one too was too weak to crank over my 1200 cc boxer engine. After speaking with Ballistic, the owner himself replaced my 12 cell battery with the 16 cell battery. This worked ok but still had some problems when the temperature dropped below 35 F. On a recent long distance trip, the 16 cell battery suddenly failed and would not even turn over my engine. After returning the battery to Ballistic Performance Components, I was told that the battery was full of water and most likely had been submersed in water. The water caused the battery to short out. Now it is useless after 10 months and would not be covered under warranty. Here is the problem... My 16 cell battery was never submersed in water! In fact my bike was not even washed in this time period. I ride every day rain or shine. The owner could not tell me why the water was in the battery other than it MUST have been submersed in water. I believe that there was a flaw in the plastic housing such as a crack or poor weld that allowed wheel spray into the battery. How can Ballistic Performance Components sell a product that is advertised as impact and water resistant and that can be mounted in any position for any power sport? Evidently, this battery is not ready for prime time! Do not purchase! February 18, 2014
Good but not that great. Got a 12L for Christmas from the wife. Was 11.2V out of the box. Put it on my battery tender for a couple of days brought it to 13.8V. Sunday a week ago My wife and I were left stranded 45 miles outside San Antonio, TX with No Electrical power. After paying through the nose to the Kaw hauled Home I found that this $179.00 marvel was dead reading only 7.3V. Placed the battery from my Buell in the Kaw and it started. Checked the stator and regulator both static and running and both checked out. Now after sitting a week it reads 11.7V with out haveing seen a charger. If you want to be stranded this is the battery for you!!! Go with an AGM Product. January 27, 2014
Technology is Awesome I was a little nervous about buying this. $150 is a nice chunk of cash. However, I am happy with my purchase. I checked the voltage of the battery after unboxing and it read an even 13.5 volts. I used some scrap, inch-thick neoprene to fill in all the extra space and to immobilize the battery. I did have to clip some plastic off from around the positive terminal to keep it from blocking the cable, but other than that, the install was painless. Fired up my 1983 Honda Nighthawk 650 on the first try. Plenty of juice. It's only the first day, but so far so good. Thanks, RevZilla! January 17, 2014
Nice and light! I have a 2010 Yamaha R6 Pros: Its about 10lbs lighter than the original It starts up nice and solid with my HID lights Cons: it was shipped to me with a weak charge, not sure if this was the battery its self or if its just been sitting on the shelf's for awhile (jump started my bike in 2nd and drove around the block and 'its fine' now... Works great but still makes me nervous) Not really a 'Con' but worth noting, The battery is smaller than the original dimension wise, but comes packed in a nice fitted pad of foam, I used the original battery as my template and cut the foam to match the dimensions so this new battery wouldn't get jostled around January 13, 2014
Ballistic EVO2 12 cell - 2 year review. I've owned 2 Ballistic EVO2 12 cell batteries now over 2 years. Both were used in my Triumph Sprint ST 1050, which is NOT an easy bike to crank over. I've had at least 3 Pb cells that when they start to age cant turn it over when they are anything but fully charged. Battery 1: I received the first battery mid summer in prep for a big motorcycle ride. I used it for a 2600 mile trip through the mountains and desert. Weather swings were from 112F mid day one day, and 25F on another depending where I was. The battery performed flawless in all cases. After that ride, and the months that followed, I noticed a fairly consistent drop in voltage and found the charging system was crapping out. I replaced it, but the battery itself was self discharging at a rate far higher than expected. After leaving the bike parked for 2 weeks, I came down and found the battery at the 7v Mark, WAY below where it should be. I put it on a very high end RC charger that can do LiFe chemistry, and checked the internal resistance of the cells. I found one that was super high, and its voltage was 0. So I had a cell go bad. I called Ballistic and worked out a replacement since I was just a month or so over the first year. They replaced the battery with almost no trouble. Which was awesome! This was an unfortunate issue with a single cell internally that caused the whole pack to start to drain. Which should be an indication of how these batteries may be more fragile than their heavy brethren. Battery 2: When I got the replacement, there was a clear difference in construction. The Battery 1 felt hollow, and like the cells had some movement room around them. Battery 2 was solid, but still light. I am guessing they are filling the case with something now to keep the battery cells immobile. I have had this battery for almost a year now, and just put it on that same charger again. After sitting for a month on the bike, the voltage dropped about 1V to 12.5, I checked the cells and they were all within .3v of one another after a year of use between balancing. My bike has a bit of a vampire current draw on it from some electronics I have on the bike, so the voltage drop isn't surprising. But I know I can leave the bike easily for a month and still have it ready to go, or disconnect it and it will be solid for a good long time. Only issues I have with the battery is I needed to break and peal back the black plastic protectors around the screw lugs to get the wires to attach solid. Not a big deal. Otherwise, its small, light, ready to go all the time, and consistent in any temp I use it in. I know it's slow to turn over in the very cold, but it does start once you put a load across the battery to warm it up. Reason I give it 4 or 5, is because of the failure I had on one of the cells, which if the company didn't stand behind it I wouldn't give this 1 star... But they did and made it right, which is good on an almost $200 battery. December 9, 2013
So light Best bang for the buck for losing weight on your bike. It also only loses a few percent of the charge sitting stagnant over a year period. So its pretty legit. Ive got one in both my bikes. November 11, 2013
