A great fit on my 2006 Concours
This is a nice-looking tire. I can't yet comment on longevity nor wet traction. But the grip on dry roads is great.

Great Stick and Cornering for Huge Bikes
Some bikes are just not lean, very mean, tire destruction machines.
If you own one of these bikes -- BMW K1200LTs/RSs, Kawasaki Concours 14s, Honda ST1300s, and a host of others -- finding something with the traction you need in corners and in the wet and the strength needed to deal with 100+ HP and 1000 lbs of bike and rider is a real trial.
Avon's Storms are magic in the wet. Full stop. I've been out on the highway in conditions that had tractor trailers pulling off and have never felt so much as a wiggle from them.
Mileage is impressive -- I just pulled a rear tire off my K1200LT that had 12,000 miles on it.
Cornering behavior with these tires is impressive -- turn in is quick, and traction at full lean is what you would want.
Finally, the Storm IIs that this tire replaced were known for having such a flexible carcass that good riders could detect some straight line instability at higher speeds as the tire loaded/unloaded and flexed at speed. The Storm 3 has added additional reinforcement that has dramatically reduced this behavior.
For big heavy bikes, one assumes that making compromises on traction, handling and treadwear is required. The Storm 3s prove that assumption is wrong.

Light, precise feel, linear steering
I put these on my ST1300 to replace the OE Bridgestones. The front end feels lighter, with easier turn-in, and it takes less effort to tighten the line mid-corner. Grip wise, I can lean til the pegs drag with no concerns about the tires. Can't speak to tread life or wet performance but so far so good.

The sportier side of sport/touring
I put these on front and back of my Concours, replacing the oem Dunlops. What a surprise! The bike handles like it's 150 lb lighter. Leans into turns a lot quicker, and with less effort, but still stable and comfortable on the straights. Even at low speeds the bike is a lot more nimble, which took some getting used to.
I haven't had a chance to test wet traction or tread life (obviously), but everything I've read says they are great for both.

3D's are great on wet roads
The 3D's are great on wet roads, as if they were dry. Great high performance tire for fast hard running motorcycles.

Vincent H: This is a good tire for the Kawasaki Concours ZG1000 rear tire. It is the same price as the Bridgestone Exedra Max 150/80R16 but the Avon has a higher speed rating (W or 170mph) verses the Bridgestone (V or 150mph). Both are radial tires and the exact same size. IN addition, the Avon is listed as a rear tire whereas the Bridgestone is actually listed as a front tire (I would think this would affect the design).Jan 3, 2015
