Arai XC Helmet 4.8 5 40 40
You get what you pay for I ride my BMW Sport touring bike in Florida where it gets hot and often rains. A full face is just too hot for me and Arai makes the only 3/4 helmet that gives me the safety I'm looking for. The elongated cheek extensions at the bottom of the helmet make the fit feel secure and have the added benefit of providing a secure foundation for mounting bluetooth devices. Compared to a full face helmet, the XC is lighter and much cooler, but also louder. It has deep ear pockets for speakers which I find useful, but may be responsible for some of the wind noise. The cooling vents are excellent and I especially like the airflow from the eyebrow vents. The XC does not have a removable inner liner so I always wear a beanie to manage the sweat inside the bucket. I wear a size 7 hat and the medium fits me well. My wife has a larger head and more hair, but she is comfortable in the medium. She also wears a large full face helmet but I think the Arai sizes are accurate. In my opinion the price of the Arai XC is high for a basic helmet, but you are paying for the safety features, which is why I wear a helmet in the first place. This helmet gives me the safety I need and the comfort I want at a price I can live with. May 1, 2015
Very functional helmet to me I have Bell half helmet and Shoei Full Face helmet.......I likes this helmet the most ... because it function better than half helmet and much open feeling than full face helmet. This helmet is good for round shape head and no problem to wear the glasses as well if you do need it as I do. The quality is good and the wind is pretty quite when riding in my personal option. the only choice ... what else ? I've been buying for 15 years, Arai Open Face ... dont get any with fancy stuff like the Ram Air ... stick to classic ... it's the best April 21, 2015
Simply the best. I've been using arai ram3 helmet for more than 10 years and now it's over due. I really like the extended cheek pads on XC helmet, make me feel more secure. Everyday commuting on CB1100 is now happier. April 13, 2015
Best Helmet Best helmet I've ever owned. Tried it today. I'm a Harley rider and it blows away all Harley helmets. It protects like a full helmet but it well ventilated. April 11, 2015
Great Helmet You get what you pay for! best helmet I have ever owned March 9, 2015
Great Product, Well made I have gone through many helmets over the years and finally came across this helmet. I am extremely pleased with it and expect to get many good years of use from it. November 24, 2014
Great comfort and versatility I bought this helmet for my fiancée. She loves the comfort, fit and the weight. I tried it out for a couple of short rides. It's a bit snug for me, but it is a great 3/4 helmet. I prefer a full face helmet for highway riding, but the 3/4 worked pretty well providing the feel I'm used to. The fit and finish of the helmet is top notch(as it should be for the price). The visibility is outstanding and the airflow is excellent. The helmet feels like a full face, but the open chin realy lets the air flow. It's more comfortable than my full face helmet for city riding with the shield up or down. It's a terrific helmet for a passenger, it offers full face feel and protection with a bit more comfort and airflow and great visibility. September 1, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Thomas T: I'm looking for the best fit in a 3/4 helmet. My head is a long oval shape and that is hard to find in this type of helmet. The Arai XC seems to be the best chance of achieving a good fit. I'll know for sure when it arrives and I try it on. Arai is also one of the best in protection and performance. Apr 30, 2015

Frederick B: Best helmet I ever had. Been riding for over 200,000 miles. Heat, cold, doesn't make a difference, great fit and comfort.

Luciano C: I'm a Vespa rider so I was looking for a quality 3/4 helmet . Arai's reputation, and the Revzilla description helped me decide. I am very happy with this helmet. The fit was just as described, comfort and ventilation are superior , and I like the look so I am happy with the helmet. Mar 25, 2014
Simon F: I looked at this, and the CT-Z, as well as the Shoie J-Cruise. The additional venting wasn't worth it to me, and I did not like the peak on the CTZ.
The JCruise did not fit me well (I tried one on at a local dealer)

Jason D asked: which fits a narrow head better, the aria xc or the shoei j-cruise? Aug 8, 2013

John C: I tried both the shoei j cruise and Aria XC in Medium. My head is narrow with a circumference of 23 cm. the Aria fit much better. Had it about two months now and love it. I do have other Shoei models. Aug 9, 2013

A shopper asked: Hi, I'm right on the edge of buying an XC. My question is about the standard 20mm cheek pads. I know some Arai cheek pads allow you to take off a 5mm width. Is this the case in the XC? If no, can you give me an idea of how tight these fit?

Thanks,
jack

Robert S: Get off the edge. Buy it. Best helmet I have ever owned. I bought one for my wife as well. I got my helmet out and pulled the cover off of the cheeckpad, and the foam underneath is in layers. You might could pull off a layer and stick it back in there if necessary. Out of the box it was just a little snug, but not uncomfortably so. After a few hundred miles, it formed to my head nicely. I am glad I didn't modify it, because it would be too loose now. I have always enjoyed riding, but this stupid helmet changed my whole enjoyment level. Definitely worth the money. Jun 20, 2014

David A: I think the XC cheek pads are "adjustable" by removing 5mm at a time for a custom fit. I ended up returning my XC and going with a Arai Signet Q due to my head shape. Arai quality is second to none. Revzilla gear geeks are also a huge resource...use them. Jun 20, 2014

Stephen R: The cheek pads on the XC are all one piece - there is no 5mm portion that you can remove. However, you can buy thinner pads and replace the stockers. I found the stock 20mm pads too thick (i.e. too tight a fit) and ordered thinner replacement pads. Jun 20, 2014

Mark A: The cheeks pads must be swapped out if you wish to change them. The large , stock helmet, fit me perfectly. I would ride with the helmet for a while before considering going to different cheek pads. Jun 20, 2014

Nathan S: I am wearing an extra large and it is very comfortable. I have a large head and a large in any style is too tight for me. As far as I can see the cheek pads are not replaceable....... Nate Jun 22, 2014

David A asked: Any problem when wearing the XC if I ride with the visor up? At what speed do they recommend it be down? Aug 12, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ron L: I frequently ride with the visor up just a little to get more air on my face at highway speeds with no issues and fully up at times at less than highway speeds again with no issues. From my personal experience, I do not think you would have an issue riding with the visor in the up position. I've owned several helmets, this one, is one of the best I've owned. Hope this helps Aug 12, 2013

Tanju C: No problem at all. During hot days I ride with open visor in the city up to around 35mph. On the highway when you speed around 50mph it just feels better with the visor down. But as with most 3/4 helmets changing the visor from up to down and vice versa is no problem and can be done at any speed. Aug 12, 2013
Reply to Tanju Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Barry D M: The problem is a bug flying into your eye at 50mph. If you wear some sort of eye protection you can wear it up. If you aren't wearing eye protection I would have it down at anything over parking lot speeds. Aug 12, 2013

Juan E: Why would you ride with the visor up? I have driven about 10-15 miles for a short time and no problems. Always use the visor! Aug 12, 2013

A s: I've ridden up to 50mph with it up and had no problems, but I usually ride with it down Aug 12, 2013

Brent C asked: I currently use a Bell Custom 500 in size Small, which is a little too snug. Feels like the top of my head isn't meeting the top of the helmet interior. I'm 56-56.5mm diameter in head size. Would an Arai XC in medium be the right choice? Apr 20, 2015

carlos b: HELLO FRIENDS REVZILLA
if the helmet causes headache is actually this very tight in cases of ARAI Pads are different and ARAI XC is less tight than the COSAIR I recommend the medium size ARAI is excellent

A shopper asked: Curious about fit -- the Signet-Q fits me perfectly but the RXQ does not -- thinking about getting something 3/4 like this but would like to know if the XC fits more like the RXQ or the Signet (I suspect the X is shared from the RXQ and therefore it won't be the helmet for me)? A shopper asked: can the Arai XC RAM Helmet be ordered with thin cheekpads? or can they be exchanged if upon receipt they are too thick? May 13, 2012

A shopper asked: Looking for a helmet for my wife who has a narrow head and insists on a 3/4 helmet. will the XC work? Aug 12, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joel P: Generally speaking, 3/4 helmets tend to be very round. However, we find that the Arai XC Helmet is narrower than typical 3/4 helmets. Aug 16, 2011

A shopper asked: I own an Arai SZ/a that is obviously more than a few years old. It is a size Medium. Over the weekend the top of the liner disintegrated. Yeah, it has been brutally hot in TX this summer. I am considering buying the new Arai XC. Does the Medium size between this newest version and the older version of this open face correlate? Incidentally, in a full face helmet, I feel more comfortable in a Large size, whether it is Arai Quantum or Shoei RF1100. I have both. Sep 19, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
AliB: Typically, open face helmets have a round or neutral round shape. We would suggest ordering the same size of the Arai XC as your previous Arai SZ/A. Oct 7, 2011
