This helmet changed my outlook on riding.
So I am a cheapskate. In fact, I have never bought a real helmet from a store, with the exception of a $50 3/4 from WalMart on the way to a test ride. I have always worn the helmet that came with the bike when I bought it, or an old helmet bought from a buddy. I was getting g kind of sour on riding because my head hurt all time, or my glasses had to be weirdly jacked into the padding to get them to stay on. Finally my wife says,"You spend thousands of dollars on bikes, just spent $500 on the most important part". So I did. I bit the bullet and ordered one of these $500 Arai helmets. When it came in, I took one ride with it, and ordered my wife one. We also got one of the communication systems as well, and she can't even tell when I am on the bike when I am talking on the phone to her. We use these helmets on our Harley, riding our Dual Sports, and even our Four Wheelers. I love this thing! The only thing that irritated me is that for $450 bucks, I thought it should have come with the dark shield as well. Small thing, but whatever. I just ordered it anyway. If you ever think about your helmet while riding, buy one of these. You'll have to find something else that irritates you.

Premium helmet quality is evident!
I purchased this helmet after trying on a number of different helmets and styles. It is light and comfortable, surprisingly quiet, and does not press uncomfortably on my ears like so many others. The weather has been cold but I have managed to use it about 4 times. In addition to the items noted above, I can turn my head from side to side without any noticeable head buffeting. I have had a number of other motorcycle helmets over the years and this is the most I have spent. It is a great investment and I wish I had done it sooner. I wear eyeglasses and they fit easily and comfortably under the helmet.

Great comfort and versatility
I bought this helmet for my fiancée. She loves the comfort, fit and the weight. I tried it out for a couple of short rides. It's a bit snug for me, but it is a great 3/4 helmet. I prefer a full face helmet for highway riding, but the 3/4 worked pretty well providing the feel I'm used to. The fit and finish of the helmet is top notch(as it should be for the price). The visibility is outstanding and the airflow is excellent. The helmet feels like a full face, but the open chin realy lets the air flow. It's more comfortable than my full face helmet for city riding with the shield up or down. It's a terrific helmet for a passenger, it offers full face feel and protection with a bit more comfort and airflow and great visibility.

Safe, comfy, solid.
After 3 helmets, I decided to step up a price range to get a better helmet. This fit is great for my oblong oval head, narrower in front and rounder in back. The finish is exceptional, durable and attractive. The face shield has no optical exaggeration, and sets to several positions with two top vents which help with fogging from breath and air flow. Venting otherwise is good, with 2 at the top and one in the rear. My BMW has a full adjustable windshield, which I typically ride with in the highest position, with the face shield open. When the windshield down, and the face shield down, the noise is apparent, however I am getting all of the deflected air there, so it is hard to indicate what the noise would be without a windshield, riding. My only minor gripe is the chin strap, which is just long enough to manipulate when strapping up. I would prefer that have another inch of length to ease it through the rings.

Comfortable and Protective Open-face Helmet
I have heretofore Resisted buying an open-face helmet, but finally bit the bullet with this one. I'm glad I did! The helmet comes forward around the chin area, giving fairly good protection for the lower face. I love the flip-up face shield! Plenty of room for glasses. And Arai helmets always fit my long oval head extremely well. Very comfortable and surprisingly quiet for an open-face helmet. Also quite light. Arai helmets are the Best!

Wow! What a difference! You get what you pay for!
Up until now I've never spent more than $150 on a helmet and I've had half helmets, full face helmets and open face helmets. I've decided I no longer feel protected enough in a half helmet so I've been riding open face in the warmer summer/fall months and full face in the cooler fall/winter months or when I know I'll be on the highway. My previous open face was a Scorpion that was very nice and had good features, but it was more of a round shape and it gave me annoying headaches and always left my forehead red after even the shorter rides. I searched around and tried on a lot of open face helmets from HJC, Fulmer, Scorpion and the likes. I tried a Nolan N43, but the fit just wasn't right. Then I decided to consider spending the extra money on either a Shoei J-Cruise or the Arai XC after talking to Andrew at Revzilla. Once I realized these open face helmets were more of an intermediate oval, I was willing to pay more for the fit. However I really underestimated the quality differences as well. A helmet's a helmet right? WRONG! As soon as the Arai arrived and I opened the box, I instantly noticed the quality difference. The paint job is fantastic and the build quality of the helmet is second to none. Upon trying it on, my head felt snug in the helmet without feeling tight. I could tell this helmet better fit my head than any I've tried before. I also noticed the cushioning was much nicer and more comfortable. After taking it out for a ride, I was amazed how quiet the helmet is. I rode without the visor and used sunglasses, which generally caused some whistling in my older helmets, but not the Arai. It was very quiet. The field of vision was massive and I could only see the sides of the helmet at the very edges of my vision. I was also impressed with the light weight of the helmet. The fact that The Arai XC has more cheek protection than most open face helmets is a great feature, but the really nice thing is that this helmet fits so well and is so comfortable that it nearly felt like I was wearing even less of a helmet than before. I felt like I was wearing a half helmet, but knew I was being covered much better. I wouldn't say I forgot I was wearing a helmet, but it was as close to having an open air feel without actually not wearing one. I really love this helmet. I guess you could say I'm now an Arai fanboy, and I wish I never would have bothered with the cheaper helmets. I wish I would have realized how nice these more expensive helmets really are. The sticker shock always kept me away, but now that I've worn one, I don't think I could go back. In fact, I'm not jonesing for an Arai full face to replace my Fulmer full face for the cooler rides and added protection.

Great helmet - especially if you have a big head!
My head is 66cm in circumference - slightly larger than 3xl. I also have a massive distance from the back of the head to front of chin - which makes ANY full face I ever tried very tight around my chin and mouth - ver uncomfortable! So this summer I gave up on full face helmets and bought the XC in 2XL - it was a tight fit, but I swopped the cheecpads for 15mm ones and took the 5mm "tear-off to fit" foam off, and it fits great! - I have taken it for a short ride with some highway included - scooter - no screen 70mph max. It is slightly more noisy than my Arai XD4, but I actually enjoyed the open feeling and I am not going to miss the chin bar (crossing fingers I that I will never need it) I fitted a Sena S3(B) in the helmet and the speakers (which is slightly thicker to hold the batteries) fits perfectly. I originally thought I would only use this on my Vespa, but I am going on a weekend trip on my BMW1200GS and will see how it works out at higher speeds and gravel roads- I really love love this helmet! Arai quality! Only thing I would have wanted is a removable liner.

I have purchased other helmet brands in the past and finally bought an Arai full face helmet a couple of years ago from Revzilla.
My Arai is absolutely the finest, most comfortable, most aero dynamic, quietest, and best ventilated helmet on the planet. I decided to purchase open face Arai helmets for my wife and I as we often ride in temperatures exceeding 90 and 100 degrees. I believe these helmets will doubtless be of the same high quality that I have already experienced with Arai.

Want an open face - but the extra protection is great - I have a huge head and have not been able to find any size fullface helmet that did not push the chinbar right up to my chin!

Brilliant summer time helmet. Field of vision is fantastic. My most comfortable helmet. Gets a little too cold for fall.

I'm looking for the best fit in a 3/4 helmet. My head is a long oval shape and that is hard to find in this type of helmet. The Arai XC seems to be the best chance of achieving a good fit. I'll know for sure when it arrives and I try it on. Arai is also one of the best in protection and performance.

I'm a Vespa rider so I was looking for a quality 3/4 helmet . Arai's reputation, and the Revzilla description helped me decide. I am very happy with this helmet. The fit was just as described, comfort and ventilation are superior , and I like the look so I am happy with the helmet.

I looked at this, and the CT-Z, as well as the Shoie J-Cruise. The additional venting wasn't worth it to me, and I did not like the peak on the CTZ.
The JCruise did not fit me well (I tried one on at a local dealer)

I see that the Arai XC RAM is no longer available. Have the upgraded the XC to provide similar features, such as removable/washable cheek pads and liner, and multiple sizes of cheek pads?
Tim K on Dec 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Great helmet , none better , comfort is amazing
which fits a narrow head better, the aria xc or the shoei j-cruise?
Jason D on Aug 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I tried both the shoei j cruise and Aria XC in Medium. My head is narrow with a circumference of 23 cm. the Aria fit much better. Had it about two months now and love it. I do have other Shoei models.
Hi, I'm right on the edge of buying an XC. My question is about the standard 20mm cheek pads. I know some Arai cheek pads allow you to take off a 5mm width. Is this the case in the XC? If no, can you give me an idea of how tight these fit?

Thanks,
jack
A shopper on Jun 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Get off the edge. Buy it. Best helmet I have ever owned. I bought one for my wife as well. I got my helmet out and pulled the cover off of the cheeckpad, and the foam underneath is in layers. You might could pull off a layer and stick it back in there if necessary. Out of the box it was just a little snug, but not uncomfortably so. After a few hundred miles, it formed to my head nicely. I am glad I didn't modify it, because it would be too loose now. I have always enjoyed riding, but this stupid helmet changed my whole enjoyment level. Definitely worth the money.
Any problem when wearing the XC if I ride with the visor up? At what speed do they recommend it be down?
David A on Aug 12, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I frequently ride with the visor up just a little to get more air on my face at highway speeds with no issues and fully up at times at less than highway speeds again with no issues. From my personal experience, I do not think you would have an issue riding with the visor in the up position. I've owned several helmets, this one, is one of the best I've owned. Hope this helps
I want the extra protection for the cheeks but don't want the visor. Can I take the visor off and cover the mechanism's (visor sprocket) on the side with a cover?
A C on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can. The face shield attaches the the side pods, which connect to the helmet. You can remove the face shield and attach each side pod separately back to the helmet(they will stay secured). If you wish to put the shield back on, just simply remove them from each side and re-attach the shield. I recommend watching the DVD instruction on how to remove the face shield and side pods, it can be a bit cumbersome.
Hi, I am looking for a 3/4 open face helmet, but my priority (I know this is superficial) is the look when I put it on. Every one Ive tried look like a huge mushroom on my head, too high, too wide (this is the main thing, the sides). Which 3/4 helmet has the lowest profile ? Cost is not an issue, I don't need a visor (if it has it nice, if not ok).

Tim
A shopper on Sep 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Although this helmet is a tad larger than most helmets of this variety the xc is one of only two makes / models of open face helmets that are snell rated ( as well as dot rated ). This is a more stringent safety rating. I love my xc for its wide open vision and airflow ,but would like to think I have a better chance of survival than the user of a novelty helmet
I currently use a Bell Custom 500 in size Small, which is a little too snug. Feels like the top of my head isn't meeting the top of the helmet interior. I'm 56-56.5mm diameter in head size. Would an Arai XC in medium be the right choice?
Brent C on Apr 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: HELLO FRIENDS REVZILLA
if the helmet causes headache is actually this very tight in cases of ARAI Pads are different and ARAI XC is less tight than the COSAIR I recommend the medium size ARAI is excellent
regards
Does this have a fully removable and washable liner?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No - lining not fully removable. Cheek pads can be switched out though for a better fit.
Will the Sena 20s install on this helmet and what is the best microphone placement?
Timothy H on Jul 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I bought this helmet for the 20s and it works good. I have the movable microphone right in the middle of mouth and push out of the way when not in use.
Curious about fit -- the Signet-Q fits me perfectly but the RXQ does not -- thinking about getting something 3/4 like this but would like to know if the XC fits more like the RXQ or the Signet (I suspect the X is shared from the RXQ and therefore it won't be the helmet for me)?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately, I have never tried any other helmet except for the XC and the CT-Z. I apologize that I can not be of any help.
