Arai XC Helmet
Comfortable and Protective Open-face Helmet
I have heretofore Resisted buying an open-face helmet, but finally bit the bullet with this one. I'm glad I did! The helmet comes forward around the chin area, giving fairly good protection for the lower face. I love the flip-up face shield! Plenty of room for glasses. And Arai helmets always fit my long oval head extremely well. Very comfortable and surprisingly quiet for an open-face helmet. Also quite light. Arai helmets are the Best!

This helmet changed my outlook on riding.
So I am a cheapskate. In fact, I have never bought a real helmet from a store, with the exception of a $50 3/4 from WalMart on the way to a test ride. I have always worn the helmet that came with the bike when I bought it, or an old helmet bought from a buddy. I was getting g kind of sour on riding because my head hurt all time, or my glasses had to be weirdly jacked into the padding to get them to stay on. Finally my wife says,"You spend thousands of dollars on bikes, just spent $500 on the most important part". So I did. I bit the bullet and ordered one of these $500 Arai helmets. When it came in, I took one ride with it, and ordered my wife one. We also got one of the communication systems as well, and she can't even tell when I am on the bike when I am talking on the phone to her. We use these helmets on our Harley, riding our Dual Sports, and even our Four Wheelers. I love this thing! The only thing that irritated me is that for $450 bucks, I thought it should have come with the dark shield as well. Small thing, but whatever. I just ordered it anyway. If you ever think about your helmet while riding, buy one of these. You'll have to find something else that irritates you.

Premium helmet quality is evident!
I purchased this helmet after trying on a number of different helmets and styles. It is light and comfortable, surprisingly quiet, and does not press uncomfortably on my ears like so many others. The weather has been cold but I have managed to use it about 4 times. In addition to the items noted above, I can turn my head from side to side without any noticeable head buffeting. I have had a number of other motorcycle helmets over the years and this is the most I have spent. It is a great investment and I wish I had done it sooner. I wear eyeglasses and they fit easily and comfortably under the helmet.

Nice to have a snell rating, excellent visibility.
I purchased this helmet for my Indian Chieftain. Peripheral visibility and up and down visibility is panoramic A black helmet in South Florida needs more ventilation than this provides. At low speeds, I feel I must flip up the visor to be able to breathe. The upper part of the helmet is open to above my forehead. Great for taking in the sky and clouds, but far more exposed to glare from the sun. The tinted shield helps, but did not eliminate this problem.

Excellent cruising helmet
I was searching for a helmet that offered excellent fit, vision and safety. This helmet was the only 3/4 helmet I could find that met all Snell and DOT specs. I'm riding a Yamaha Bolt cruiser. Love this helmet.

Great looking and fitting helmet, as advertised.
I am very happy with the ARIA XC helmet. It is as good looking as it is good fitting and I am confident that it will be my safest option on the road.

The best open face helmet made!
Great helmet with the perfect fit for long oval head shapes.
The best open face helmet made!
Works great with communication systems.
An expensive helmet but well worth the investment.

Wow! What a difference! You get what you pay for!
Up until now I've never spent more than $150 on a helmet and I've had half helmets, full face helmets and open face helmets. I've decided I no longer feel protected enough in a half helmet so I've been riding open face in the warmer summer/fall months and full face in the cooler fall/winter months or when I know I'll be on the highway. My previous open face was a Scorpion that was very nice and had good features, but it was more of a round shape and it gave me annoying headaches and always left my forehead red after even the shorter rides. I searched around and tried on a lot of open face helmets from HJC, Fulmer, Scorpion and the likes. I tried a Nolan N43, but the fit just wasn't right. Then I decided to consider spending the extra money on either a Shoei J-Cruise or the Arai XC after talking to Andrew at Revzilla. Once I realized these open face helmets were more of an intermediate oval, I was willing to pay more for the fit. However I really underestimated the quality differences as well. A helmet's a helmet right? WRONG! As soon as the Arai arrived and I opened the box, I instantly noticed the quality difference. The paint job is fantastic and the build quality of the helmet is second to none. Upon trying it on, my head felt snug in the helmet without feeling tight. I could tell this helmet better fit my head than any I've tried before. I also noticed the cushioning was much nicer and more comfortable. After taking it out for a ride, I was amazed how quiet the helmet is. I rode without the visor and used sunglasses, which generally caused some whistling in my older helmets, but not the Arai. It was very quiet. The field of vision was massive and I could only see the sides of the helmet at the very edges of my vision. I was also impressed with the light weight of the helmet. The fact that The Arai XC has more cheek protection than most open face helmets is a great feature, but the really nice thing is that this helmet fits so well and is so comfortable that it nearly felt like I was wearing even less of a helmet than before. I felt like I was wearing a half helmet, but knew I was being covered much better. I wouldn't say I forgot I was wearing a helmet, but it was as close to having an open air feel without actually not wearing one. I really love this helmet. I guess you could say I'm now an Arai fanboy, and I wish I never would have bothered with the cheaper helmets. I wish I would have realized how nice these more expensive helmets really are. The sticker shock always kept me away, but now that I've worn one, I don't think I could go back. In fact, I'm not jonesing for an Arai full face to replace my Fulmer full face for the cooler rides and added protection.
