This helmet changed my outlook on riding. So I am a cheapskate. In fact, I have never bought a real helmet from a store, with the exception of a $50 3/4 from WalMart on the way to a test ride. I have always worn the helmet that came with the bike when I bought it, or an old helmet bought from a buddy. I was getting g kind of sour on riding because my head hurt all time, or my glasses had to be weirdly jacked into the padding to get them to stay on. Finally my wife says,"You spend thousands of dollars on bikes, just spent $500 on the most important part". So I did. I bit the bullet and ordered one of these $500 Arai helmets. When it came in, I took one ride with it, and ordered my wife one. We also got one of the communication systems as well, and she can't even tell when I am on the bike when I am talking on the phone to her. We use these helmets on our Harley, riding our Dual Sports, and even our Four Wheelers. I love this thing! The only thing that irritated me is that for $450 bucks, I thought it should have come with the dark shield as well. Small thing, but whatever. I just ordered it anyway. If you ever think about your helmet while riding, buy one of these. You'll have to find something else that irritates you. June 9, 2014
Premium helmet quality is evident! I purchased this helmet after trying on a number of different helmets and styles. It is light and comfortable, surprisingly quiet, and does not press uncomfortably on my ears like so many others. The weather has been cold but I have managed to use it about 4 times. In addition to the items noted above, I can turn my head from side to side without any noticeable head buffeting. I have had a number of other motorcycle helmets over the years and this is the most I have spent. It is a great investment and I wish I had done it sooner. I wear eyeglasses and they fit easily and comfortably under the helmet. March 10, 2014
Nice to have a snell rating, excellent visibility. I purchased this helmet for my Indian Chieftain. Peripheral visibility and up and down visibility is panoramic A black helmet in South Florida needs more ventilation than this provides. At low speeds, I feel I must flip up the visor to be able to breathe. The upper part of the helmet is open to above my forehead. Great for taking in the sky and clouds, but far more exposed to glare from the sun. The tinted shield helps, but did not eliminate this problem. November 18, 2013
Excellent cruising helmet I was searching for a helmet that offered excellent fit, vision and safety. This helmet was the only 3/4 helmet I could find that met all Snell and DOT specs. I'm riding a Yamaha Bolt cruiser. Love this helmet. November 12, 2013
Great looking and fitting helmet, as advertised. I am very happy with the ARIA XC helmet. It is as good looking as it is good fitting and I am confident that it will be my safest option on the road. October 21, 2013
The best open face helmet made! Great helmet with the perfect fit for long oval head shapes. The best open face helmet made! Works great with communication systems. An expensive helmet but well worth the investment. October 14, 2013
Wow! What a difference! You get what you pay for! Up until now I've never spent more than $150 on a helmet and I've had half helmets, full face helmets and open face helmets. I've decided I no longer feel protected enough in a half helmet so I've been riding open face in the warmer summer/fall months and full face in the cooler fall/winter months or when I know I'll be on the highway. My previous open face was a Scorpion that was very nice and had good features, but it was more of a round shape and it gave me annoying headaches and always left my forehead red after even the shorter rides. I searched around and tried on a lot of open face helmets from HJC, Fulmer, Scorpion and the likes. I tried a Nolan N43, but the fit just wasn't right. Then I decided to consider spending the extra money on either a Shoei J-Cruise or the Arai XC after talking to Andrew at Revzilla. Once I realized these open face helmets were more of an intermediate oval, I was willing to pay more for the fit. However I really underestimated the quality differences as well. A helmet's a helmet right? WRONG! As soon as the Arai arrived and I opened the box, I instantly noticed the quality difference. The paint job is fantastic and the build quality of the helmet is second to none. Upon trying it on, my head felt snug in the helmet without feeling tight. I could tell this helmet better fit my head than any I've tried before. I also noticed the cushioning was much nicer and more comfortable. After taking it out for a ride, I was amazed how quiet the helmet is. I rode without the visor and used sunglasses, which generally caused some whistling in my older helmets, but not the Arai. It was very quiet. The field of vision was massive and I could only see the sides of the helmet at the very edges of my vision. I was also impressed with the light weight of the helmet. The fact that The Arai XC has more cheek protection than most open face helmets is a great feature, but the really nice thing is that this helmet fits so well and is so comfortable that it nearly felt like I was wearing even less of a helmet than before. I felt like I was wearing a half helmet, but knew I was being covered much better. I wouldn't say I forgot I was wearing a helmet, but it was as close to having an open air feel without actually not wearing one. I really love this helmet. I guess you could say I'm now an Arai fanboy, and I wish I never would have bothered with the cheaper helmets. I wish I would have realized how nice these more expensive helmets really are. The sticker shock always kept me away, but now that I've worn one, I don't think I could go back. In fact, I'm not jonesing for an Arai full face to replace my Fulmer full face for the cooler rides and added protection. August 7, 2013
Excellent, Safe 3/4 helmet, Fits narrow head very well I bought this helmet because I wanted a 3/4 helmet, but could not find one that fit my narrow, but extra large head. This helmet fits me well, and feels extremely safe. Visibility is wide, and exactly what I wanted May 20, 2013

Luciano C: I'm a Vespa rider so I was looking for a quality 3/4 helmet . Arai's reputation, and the Revzilla description helped me decide. I am very happy with this helmet. The fit was just as described, comfort and ventilation are superior , and I like the look so I am happy with the helmet. Mar 25, 2014
Simon F: I looked at this, and the CT-Z, as well as the Shoie J-Cruise. The additional venting wasn't worth it to me, and I did not like the peak on the CTZ.
The JCruise did not fit me well (I tried one on at a local dealer)

Zachary W: Watched many Revzilla helmet videos and decided this was the best product for me. Feb 8, 2014

John C: I tried both the shoei j cruise and Aria XC in Medium. My head is narrow with a circumference of 23 cm. the Aria fit much better. Had it about two months now and love it. I do have other Shoei models. Aug 9, 2013

A shopper asked: Hi, I'm right on the edge of buying an XC. My question is about the standard 20mm cheek pads. I know some Arai cheek pads allow you to take off a 5mm width. Is this the case in the XC? If no, can you give me an idea of how tight these fit?

Thanks,
jack

Robert S: Get off the edge. Buy it. Best helmet I have ever owned. I bought one for my wife as well. I got my helmet out and pulled the cover off of the cheeckpad, and the foam underneath is in layers. You might could pull off a layer and stick it back in there if necessary. Out of the box it was just a little snug, but not uncomfortably so. After a few hundred miles, it formed to my head nicely. I am glad I didn't modify it, because it would be too loose now. I have always enjoyed riding, but this stupid helmet changed my whole enjoyment level. Definitely worth the money. Jun 20, 2014

David A: I think the XC cheek pads are "adjustable" by removing 5mm at a time for a custom fit. I ended up returning my XC and going with a Arai Signet Q due to my head shape. Arai quality is second to none. Revzilla gear geeks are also a huge resource...use them. Jun 20, 2014

Stephen R: The cheek pads on the XC are all one piece - there is no 5mm portion that you can remove. However, you can buy thinner pads and replace the stockers. I found the stock 20mm pads too thick (i.e. too tight a fit) and ordered thinner replacement pads. Jun 20, 2014

Mark A: The cheeks pads must be swapped out if you wish to change them. The large , stock helmet, fit me perfectly. I would ride with the helmet for a while before considering going to different cheek pads. Jun 20, 2014

Nathan S: I am wearing an extra large and it is very comfortable. I have a large head and a large in any style is too tight for me. As far as I can see the cheek pads are not replaceable....... Nate Jun 22, 2014

David A asked: Any problem when wearing the XC if I ride with the visor up? At what speed do they recommend it be down? Aug 12, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ron L: I frequently ride with the visor up just a little to get more air on my face at highway speeds with no issues and fully up at times at less than highway speeds again with no issues. From my personal experience, I do not think you would have an issue riding with the visor in the up position. I've owned several helmets, this one, is one of the best I've owned. Hope this helps Aug 12, 2013

Tanju C: No problem at all. During hot days I ride with open visor in the city up to around 35mph. On the highway when you speed around 50mph it just feels better with the visor down. But as with most 3/4 helmets changing the visor from up to down and vice versa is no problem and can be done at any speed. Aug 12, 2013

Barry D M: The problem is a bug flying into your eye at 50mph. If you wear some sort of eye protection you can wear it up. If you aren't wearing eye protection I would have it down at anything over parking lot speeds. Aug 12, 2013

Juan E: Why would you ride with the visor up? I have driven about 10-15 miles for a short time and no problems. Always use the visor! Aug 12, 2013

A s: I've ridden up to 50mph with it up and had no problems, but I usually ride with it down Aug 12, 2013

A shopper asked: Curious about fit -- the Signet-Q fits me perfectly but the RXQ does not -- thinking about getting something 3/4 like this but would like to know if the XC fits more like the RXQ or the Signet (I suspect the X is shared from the RXQ and therefore it won't be the helmet for me)? A shopper asked: can the Arai XC RAM Helmet be ordered with thin cheekpads? or can they be exchanged if upon receipt they are too thick? May 13, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: If you would like cheekpads that are different than stock, you would need to order the different size separately. May 17, 2012

A shopper asked: Looking for a helmet for my wife who has a narrow head and insists on a 3/4 helmet. will the XC work? Aug 12, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joel P: Generally speaking, 3/4 helmets tend to be very round. However, we find that the Arai XC Helmet is narrower than typical 3/4 helmets. Aug 16, 2011

A shopper asked: I own an Arai SZ/a that is obviously more than a few years old. It is a size Medium. Over the weekend the top of the liner disintegrated. Yeah, it has been brutally hot in TX this summer. I am considering buying the new Arai XC. Does the Medium size between this newest version and the older version of this open face correlate? Incidentally, in a full face helmet, I feel more comfortable in a Large size, whether it is Arai Quantum or Shoei RF1100. I have both. Sep 19, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
AliB: Typically, open face helmets have a round or neutral round shape. We would suggest ordering the same size of the Arai XC as your previous Arai SZ/A. Oct 7, 2011
