Arai Corsair V Harada Tour Helmet

Tetsuya Harada, one of Arai's most popular GP rider with a string of extremely popular replicas, toured the world chasing the 250 and 500cc world championships, winning the 250cc championship in 1993. This design pays tribute to that pursuit, displaying a subtle global map design on either side.

The Arai Corsair V Helmet proves again that Arai’s main focus is the experienced rider who knows what a real helmet should do and have. It doesn’t fling fashion at you; it advanced the art of building better helmets for riders. Its improvements and innovations reach down to the smallest details. Why? Partly obsession. Partly because Arai believes every part of a helmet is interrelated in both design and function. We don’t believe in change for the sake of change, fad, or marketing “shock” value.

Features:

  • Newly designed shell with Hyper-Ridge around the bottom enhances shell strength while providing a larger bottom opening
  • Larger bottom opening promotes ease of putting on and taking off the helmet
  • Peripheral belting across the forehead area of the shell enhances structural integrity while maintaining flexibility, low weight and shell size
  • Larger upper vent tabs make operating the vents easier even with thick winter gloves
  • New Arai “SAI” shield with Super AdSis shield system
  • New “SAI” shield is 5mm longer in each side and provides a wider field of view
  • New “SAI” shield and base plates are exclusive to Corsair V helmets
  • Latest generation of Dry Cool line has a new silver-grey color
  • Rear mounting straps are slightly re-positioned exclusively to the Corsair V
  • Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
  • Cheek pads have the exclusive Emergency Release Tab feature
  • Newly designed side exhaust cowls exhaust heat as well as add lateral stability at speed
  • Enhanced air inlets of the new DF-9 diffuser increase airflow efficiency
  • Brow vents now duct air into the temple area and out the side vents for maximum cooling
  • Exclusive AirWing provides unprecedented aerodynamic performance with 5 distinct positions
  • DOT approved
  • Snell M2010 Certified

Excellent helmet - but you already knew that. I needed a Snell 2010 rated helmet for racing and since I also would wear it on the street I had to get an Arai, since all other helmets I've tried don't fit me right. As expected from the Corsair line (this is my 4th) it's a really nice and light helmet (and may even be lighter than previous versions I've had) and thanks to lots of airflow, not hot to wear. The tradeoff is the wind noise all other reviews have commented on; definitely wear earplugs for longer rides or if you're getting on the highway if you want to be able to hear after you get off the bike. The only downside is the very high price - but you get what you pay for - this is a really quality helmet that I can trust my life with. But honestly, if I knew of a cheaper helmet that I could wear comfortably that was either Snell 2010 or the ECE R22-05 (or whatever the top-end Euro standard is) I would have bought one of those instead. Incredible Helmet! If you have an Arai head, you will always come back to an Arai helmet! I have had Arai's going back to 1986 with a Freddie Spencer replica and my 1986 GSXR 750. My point is, the quality of an Arai is undeniable. I currently have a Signet Q Laurel with my white 2013 ZX14R. I saw the Corsair V Harada Tour and couldn't resist. The fit is perfect, as it is a relaxed round oval. When initially trying on, don't be intimidated by the snug entrance to the helmet. You want the smallest size for your head (use Arai sizing chart). Once it is on it fits like a glove. The comfort, air flow, peripheral vision and light weight really make this helmet a pleasure to wear. You really feel you are wearing something special. The paint, graphics, interior and fit are exceptional. It is expensive, but it just feels and rides so nice you'll get over the cost like I did. I've tried every helmet from Shoei to HJC to try and avoid the Arai cost, but I could have saved money by sticking with Arai. Just buy Arai and feel good about having the best. For my long-oval head, it can't be beat. Also, if your initial fit feels a little small, you have a perfect fit! As long as you have no pressure points you want the closest fit possible for proper protection. Arai's are meant to fit close, but comfortable once on. Nothing like cruising the So. Cal Coast at 80 mph on my ZX14R wearing my Arai Corsair V Harada Tour helmet. July 30, 2014
Most Comfortable Helmet I ended up with this helmet after trying Shoei, AGV and Fullmer helmets. This helmet is the most comfortable, best air flow and doesn't feel huge on my head. The graphics look much better in person too. April 18, 2014
Amazing helmet! This is my first Arai helmet ever, and I have to say, it definitely took me by surprise! Being an original Shoei fan, after purchasing this helmet, I am instantly an Arai fan. It is way lighter than my shoei! (GT-AIR). Looks a little smaller to, which I like because Shoei is like a huge bubble around my head. The shield mechanism is the most amazing I've ever experienced! It is so easy to slide it open and close. Needless to say, it is effortless. Unlike my Shoei, I gotta apply force to pop it open. To switch out the shields can be a tad bit tricky, but when you get the hang of it, it is the fastest shield change ever! Just practice to make perfect. Lastly, ventilation is seriously nice. My shield doesn't fog when I'm just standing in it breathing heavily, as opposed to my Shoei...it fogs fast. During the rides, ventilation is very good, keeps me cool, thanks to the eyebrow vents. The vent switches are very easy to use also. FYI, I am not trying to bash on Shoei, I'm just so surprised at how much better this Arai helmet is. You definitely get what you paid for! March 18, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
John N: I did my own research and looked into several manufactures products. I just like Arai's philosophy about making a safe helmet not an inexpensive helmet.
3 generations of helmet builders they must be doing something right.
