Alpinestars Women's Vika Leather Jacket

Fashion meets function. The Vika Jacket is part of a full set of jacket, pants and gloves, this body contouring, ultra-comfortable protective jacket is inspired by runway trends from the top design houses and engineered to women’s needs. The proprietary design pattern visually and physically thins, lengthens, and flatters the female figure.

Features:

  • Constructed from buttery soft 1 mm full-grain cow leather specifically selected and treated for ultimate softness and comfort 
  • Removable CE-certified heat-and-impact-sensitive shoulder and elbow protection hardens on collision
  • Armor was chosen because it’s so soft and thin that it’s easy to forget it’s there

I love this jacket The jacket fits well and moves well with your body. Very comfortable and insulated. I didn't feel much wind on a chilly day ride. March 19, 2013
Worth the money I love this jacket. I was apprehensive about the European size conversion but this jacket couldn't fit me anymore perfectly. I'm 5'4", 112lbs, and 34B bra size. The size 40 jacket fits as if it's tailor-made. If you have a bigger chest, it might fit a bit too tightly for you. The length is great with the back a little longer to hide that area above your butt that always seems to peek out. It is more style than substance so don't expect ultra protection. There is no back plate. The cut is a streamlined, slim fit which I love. March 7, 2013
Mainly a fashion jacket This jacket is more of a fashion statement for the occasional scooter ride rather than for serious riding due to the very thin and soft leather. True, it's better than no protection at all but it is really not a motorcycle jacket. November 28, 2012
Love the jacket The leather on this jacket is truly butter-soft. It fits snug–I'm an athletic 5'7, 130 lbs, 36" bust, 26" waist, and the 42 fits the way it should. As far as protection goes, It's significantly less than the Alpinestars Tyla or Six-Three jackets, but the Vika is a lot sexier! I love the high collar, too. September 17, 2012

The Alpinestars Women's Vika Leather Jacket has six pockets. Two on the outside, two on the liner, and two on the interior of the jacket itself.

Yes, it has 2 side zip pockets like on most ladies riding jackets. It also has an interior pocket.

Answer: 
Yes, the Vika does come with a pocket for a back protector. We recommend the SAS-TEC, which will require a bit of trimming in order for it to match the shape of the cavity. Though trimming will void the warranty, it will not compromise the integrity of the protection.

What's your weight if you don't mind posting? My fiancee is 5' and about 100 lbs, very petite as well. We tried a 40 in the store and it was a pretty good fit, though the elbow armor sat a little lower than I liked. They do make a 38 that we will try next time.

The description of this jacket leads me to believe it really wouldn't protect you if it comes down to it. Does anyone have experience with it? All style, no function? I'm attracted to it because I want leather but some venting and jacket that doesn't "wear me" (5"10, 135lbs) but I'm not going to give up safety for vanity. :)

Answer: 
The Vika is 2 parts fashion, 1 part function. Keep in mind, leather is still very protective and is a better option than many textile jackets on the market. For around town and breaking necks, the Vika is a great choice, for serious commuting, track or touring, I would suggest something more robust.

I have the jacket, and have to admit that the padding is much less protective than their Tyla or 63 jackets. The quality of the leather is amazing but the padding is minimal, I use mine for bike nights and city driving. I ride a Moto Guzzi Griso.
