Does not hold up to daily use I am very disappointed in the durability of these gloves. The Velcro stopped holding within the first month. The rubber around the wrist separated withing 2 months. I am most disappointed in Alpinstars level of customer service. I attempted to deal directly with the companies product support/ Warranty and received zero response. Sad... Luckily this is not a reflection on Revzilla I could not be happier with the product and support I get from them on every purchase. October 28, 2014
Great protection and feature; lackluster velcro These gloves have gone through a fair amount of abuse and have held up surprisingly well, at least in terms of the leathers and protection parts. The velcro does not seem to be up to the same standards. The velcro will catch on the fabric parts of the glove and pull up tufts of fabric. After that, the velcro gets clogged and does not clasp properly, requiring the barbs to be fully cleaned out to get any purchase on the strap system. The straps will come off and flap about, which is annoying. I haven't gone down on these, but I can't imagine loose straps helping much either. The leather and plastic quality is great. These have gone through many heat, cold and wet cycles without showing any wear. I have spilled plenty of grease, oil and gas on them with no problem after a wash. I may have gotten a dud on the velcro, but I cannot recommend these for that. September 1, 2014
Not so much.. After purchasing these gloves roughly six months ago, the palm area completely came apart. The leather wore down to almost nothing and then once a portion was completely gone the entire palm opened up. The carbon fiber parts on the ball of the palm also wore through the material. Everything else however like great air flow, styling, and comfort were on point. Overall I would rate these 2 out of 5 only because they could not even last a full season. See attached picture. These were not involved in a crash this is simply from 3-4 days per week riding. August 27, 2014
if you usually wear a large go to extra large awesome gloves! great gloves can't go wrong with these alpine stars makes quality products August 4, 2014
This product is extremley comfortable and durable!! Recently purchased the Alpinestars SP-X gloves and immediately knew they were a great purchase out of the box. Fitment was small i knew this going in. I purchased one size up from what I would normally purchase. Very durable and breathable! Over great product! THANKS REV! July 22, 2014
Good gloves You get great protection for the price of these gloves compaired to the others. The fit is a bit small but do stretch a little with use July 22, 2014
I really loved this gloves until I crashed. I thought these gloves were great, but after about 1 1/2 yrs, the vecro on the left hand wasn't staying in place any more. Then in june 2008, I collided head on with a mt. sheep at about 40 mph. My kevlar jeans didn't have a scratch on them while my mesh jacket had a few small holes. My right glove was ok. My left hand had a broken bone and the left glove came apart & ripped at the middle finger which left a nice long gash in my middle finger. Upon seeing the other negative reviews here, it looks like the where mesh meets the leather is an issue. July 15, 2014
Great Product!! The first time i put these gloves on I knew I was sold as an alpinestars glove lifetime customer! While they fit tight and may be less than perfectly comfortable, I feel assured that I will be protected completely in the event of a crash. Air flow is awesome, styling is understated but when examined show their technological prowess. Will have to report later on the durability, and when they finally wear out I will be purchasing another pair! Absolutely recommend to anyone! July 14, 2014

Jeff S: Owned a pair that saved me from a wrecked wrist & arm. Highsided, landed right hand first on the carbon skid pads and it performed perfectly hitting the asphalt, allowing my hand to slide inside the glove & transferring the force to the the palm which dissapated the energy as it slid tearing open from just above the skid pad across to the thumb and down to the wrist. The glove is done but I walked away without a scratch or even a bruise on my hand or arm. Left shoulder's another story. Oct 18, 2013

Philip A: Had these glove for a while and man, they fight perfect, vent well and are so comfortable I could even see myself wearing them around the house. They have got plenty of room still to move about inside, giving them flexibility. As far a crash strength, lets hope I don't have to review that, but if that situation comes along I'm confident I won't be disappointed. Id recommend these gloves to anyone, as well as most products from revzilla.com. Aug 20, 2013
Gregory J: I like the style, great review and fit all my protection needs. the price range is fair Aug 9, 2013
A shopper asked: I am not 100% sure what size to get these gloves in. I tried on a GPX and I found the M to be the best size. Then, I tried on an Octane S-Moto and the L suited me better. Now I'm not sure what I should pick for this glove. There were no SPXs in the shop that I could try on... Any suggestions on the best size for me?

I am from Melbourne Australia and I don't want to get the size wrong.

Stephen L: I own these gloves and I have a size Large. They fit pretty true to size. Additionally I own several other Italian and French design gloves like Dainese and Five, and in all of these I seem to consistently be a Large. Sometimes these types of gloves can be a little snug because of the material they are made out of, but after a few rides they become broken-in and fit perfect.

Hope that helps,

Frank B: I bought a pair of XL and they are a little tight. I would recommend one size up from your normal sizing. Oct 23, 2013

Robert B: I am an XL in just about all clothing, gloves included. I had to size up to a 2XL in these gloves. I found the XL to fit nicely when my hand was flat. However, when I curled my hand around the grips the pinky fingers were too short. It seems the gloves run just a tad small.

I would measure your hand first. If it falls near the low side of XL, get the XL. If it's near the upper end of XL, buy a 2XL. Apply that to whatever size you need.

Nicholas B: Go find a store and try them on! With Alpinestar, it's the only way to be sure. I usually wear an XL (just - some L fit fine) and an XXL was too tight across the knuckles but getting too long in the fingers, so an XXXL would be way too long in the fingers. They do look great, have very good airflow and protection, but fit is a problem for them. Apr 14, 2014

Chadrick D: I would order one size large. These run pretty small, so if you like the fit of a medium, order a large. Nov 25, 2013

A shopper asked: Id like to buy this glove for its styling and protection. The only problem is that there are multiple reviews criticizing its lack of durability. I dont want to spend $100 to just have them torn to shreads in 1 season or less!! Is durability really that big of an issue with these gloves? Feb 25, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Matthew M: The durability issue for me is strictly cosmetic as well. The ends of the fingers tend to have threads fray and stick out and the little Astars logo screen printed onto the left first two fingers is long gone from working the clutch (ironically the right shows no signs of peeling). While I do agree for 100 bucks it would be nice to not to deal with that, the protection is great and the look is sharp. May 27, 2014

Matthew M: Just crashed tested these this last Friday. Saved my hands for sure. Bought the farm at 65. Palm sliders are a must glad it had them and the knuckle gaurds. Only wound up with a tiny little gash to the top of my hand that's open to air for the Velcro less then the size of a dime. Will be ordering another pair without question Jun 29, 2014

Michael S: I'm on my second pair of these gloves, they do feel great and break in very comfortably but I have only gotten one season if that out of each pair because they wear through in the fingers because the leather is so soft. There a good glove but should be priced in the $50-$60 range for the time they actually last. Feb 25, 2014

Allan E: Durability has not been a problem with the gloves. If I was to be critical they do get dirty quickly but I bought the white gloves to you have to expect this. The ventilation, protection & looks all met my expectations. Feb 25, 2014

A shopper asked: The Black glove has a black palm, which I really like. The Black White & Red one has a white palm which seems like it would get dirty very fast. I'd like to know / see what the palm of the Black & White glove looks like.

Matthew M: I've got the orange ones and the palm and large area of the top is white. Holding up very well so far with just over 1600 miles on them this season. I actually could have passed them off for brand new until about a week ago riding someone else's bike and their grips marked up the palm of one glove slightly. May 27, 2014
