comfortable the ideal size was just a little to snug for my liking, got one size larger for a comfortable fit (i have wide hand) April 17, 2014
Good gloves with excellent airflow These are good overall gloves but I've noticed that the mesh ends on the fingers tend to fray and I've hardly had a chance to ride with them. April 14, 2014
Ripped after 3 days. The glove felt great and I really liked the design and protection. Only flaw for me was that the seem above the Velcro tore after only 3 days. I'm not giving these a horrible review because I could have just gotten a bad pair, so just be cautious with the durability. April 3, 2014
All around good gloves I love the look of these gloves. They offer good protection without being too clumsy feeling. I got these in an extra large. I consider my hand a large. Even in the x-large it was tough getting them on, but once on my hand the fit was perfect, very comfortable. March 31, 2014
Newbie rider so take with a grain of salt Used these gloves during MSF training. Worked great, slightly small fitting according to the size chart. Airflows them very well. Had a good feedback response when holding clutch/break. Velcro has the small pile, but still picks up fabric from shirt/jacket. March 31, 2014
Best glove fro DS Riding Just used my 4th pair of these gloves for an 18 day off road tour of Namibia. These gloves are great, have always served me well. Love the fit and feel. I buy the gloves to fit a bit tight when new. They stretch just a bit and fir me perfectly after a few hours on the bike. March 31, 2014
Good ole alpinestars! I have had my fair share of alpinestar gloves and I wanted some for the summer. I'm happy I bought these. They flow air well and look great. Are very comfortable and i'm able to still move my fingers around and zip up coats and what not. They fit the same as all alpinestar gloves. My one complaint. . . The clotch that the gloves are made of gets destroyed and frayed by the velcro. When I velcro the gloves up if the top side of the fingers touch the velcro it instantly pulls the material away from the fingers leaving a bunch of very small, feint strings. Just have to be careful about it. March 31, 2014
Good glove, but durability isn't perfect. Been wearing these gloves for a little over a year now, the right glove is torn between the neoprene sleeve and the leather palm. The airflow is amazing and the carbon knuckles seem very solid but I have to knock a star off for that. From what I've heard, they hold up fine in a crash, but I wouldn't rock 'em around a track or anything. Great summer glove though, SUPER comfortable. March 28, 2014

Happy to use Alpinestars gear, so superior it isn't funny.

A shopper asked: I'm over in Australia so I want to get this right first time around.
If I understood the guide: palm down, measuring from index finger knuckle to pinky finger knuckle

Miko: Measure the outside of your knuckle, but start from the inside of your hand. You don't want to measure just the top part of your hand, but also the sides of the knuckle. Mar 26, 2012

Chris K: For Alpinestars, yes this is the correct method. Others will have you measure a circumference, but Astars is a bit different. Aug 10, 2011

A shopper asked: I measured my hand and I'm excatly a 3 4/8. Should I get the medium or large?

The medium is 3 1/8" - 3 5/8"
And the large is 3 5/8" - 4 1/8"

I was gonna get the medium but I heard these run small or something? Much help appreciated!

Dave H: Wow, I thought I had small hands! My hand measures 3 and 3/4 inch at the widest part, and I bought Medium size gloves. They were very tight when they were new, however now that they are broken-in they fit fine. Initially, it was a real chore to put then on, and when they were wet they were a pain to remove. But getting leather wet is the fastest and easiest way to break it in to your size. FYI - You don't want gloves that are too large, the excess material in the palm will bunch-up under your grip and the excess material at the finger tips will curl-up. Nov 15, 2013

Hector P: I suggest you buy the size that indicates the catalog that is medium. Remember that using the materials tend to loosen. If your fingers are a bit long and not very fair you like wearing gloves is better long. Nov 12, 2013

anthony d: i would go large. always go the next size up they do run tight. they are definitely a summer glove.

p.s. im a XL and i purchased the XL-xl and they were still tight, but broke in perfectly.

Jason S: They run small in my experience...not to mention that your hands will swell in the heat while riding. I would go with the large! Nov 12, 2013

A shopper asked: How do these two compare? I'm looking for a pair of street riding gloves but I have long and narrow fingers (8.5" around knuckles, but 8.25" from wrist crease to tip of middle finger). I tried on the FL1 in an XL and liked the length, but was a little wider than ideal for my hand. Is the AStars a good alternative? Nov 26, 2011

OkeefenokeeJoe: No .. you will find them too snug. The Alpinestars aren't for those with ... ummmm ... plump hands. I highly suggest you look at something in the Held glove line since they offer you greater variety of sizing options, including a "Long" option for those with long fingers. Jan 30, 2012

Stevecbr954rr: I had a chance to try on the smx-2 air carbon and my hands are 8 1/2" around my knuckles as well and 8.5" when i measure from the tip of my middle finger to the crease of my wrist on the palm side 7.5" on the top of my hand. the xl fit perfectly in the smx-2 air carbon. Apr 21, 2013
Reply to Stevecbr954rr Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Stevan P: They tend to run a little narrower in the finger and would be a good alternative. I have very long skinny fingers and they fit just fine! Dec 21, 2011

Dan M asked: Are these stock pictures? I am interested in this glove for the multitouch capabilities. The photos look different than the one Anthony is wearing in the 2014 short cuff video buying guide. Mar 28, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
WAYNE C J: The pictures are correct and the multi-touch works. Careful if you have a large wrist as the wrap around is limited but overall a nice glove with good protection. Apr 15, 2014

Pedro G: I bought them back in 2011 that's what they looked like I'm sure there have been some minor changes since then. Apr 6, 2014

A shopper asked: Everyday I ride 20 miles one way to work, partly in-town stop-and-go traffic and out on county highways. I have a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R and an Alpinestars T-GP-R Air jacket. The Alpinestars SP-8 and SMX-2 Air Carbon appear to be awesome riding gloves. What is the main difference between the gloves and do you recommend one over the other for my riding? Mar 3, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Stevecbr954rr: I can't give you any advise regarding the sp-8 but I tried the smx-2 air carbon on at a dealership and the glove is super comfortable and the protection seems great, you wont even notice you are wearing those gloves. I would have bought them right there but they are about $70 here and I can get any color I want and they were $100 at the dealership and they only had black. I can safely say you will be happy with the smc-2 air carbon. Apr 21, 2013
Reply to Stevecbr954rr Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
isteveallen: Personally I see that the SP-8 has a little more protection for the wrists. and the style is different. I own the SMX-2 air carbons and they feel amazing and fit great with good air flow. Comfort is there and the quality is there. SP-8 would be very nice because it goes down to your wrist. Only con it doesn't have the solid knuckle protection that the SMX-2 has. I'd go with the SP-8. Mar 4, 2013
