Solid value but order at least 1 size larger than normal First off, it took me a few attempts to get the right size in these pants. I've been losing weight recently, and am now somewhere between a 36 & 38 waist in jeans. I'd think that would put me in an XL. The XL's wouldn't even go past my knees they were so tight. I returned them for the XXL, dubious that even those would fit, and ready to potentially try 3XL. The XXL's ended up fitting, but just barely. They have plenty of room through the calf, and are perfect length wise, I'm 6'4" and wear 34" inseam jeans. These feel long, until you sit on a sport bike in normal position and then the length ends up being just about perfect for me. It puts the knee pads in the perfect position, and the length just covers to the correct length on riding boots. There are at least 2 usable pockets (I haven't checked to see if there are any more hidden somewhere, I haven't needed to). Padding is good, and they seem like they'd make a pretty big difference in a crash, though I hope to never find out. I did have a friend who crashed while wearing the same pants this weekend, and they held up, although it was a relatively tame crash as far as those go (low speed, front impact). These seem to have saved his shin though, as the shin pad was dislodged and had some scratches in that position on the pants. I have yet to ride with these in anything warmer than 65 degree weather. I have a feeling though they will be QUITE warm in anything above 75, but then again, I get hot incredibly easily. I don't think they'll be worse than the kevlar jeans I have, but probably about the same. May 7, 2014
Good pants I've been wearing these pants every day on my 20 min commute to work over a pair of jeans. I've only had them for about two months and they've worked great so far. The weather has been cooler and hasn't broken 70 degrees. Over a pair of jeans they keep the chill out but I can see how they might get a little too warm once the temp reaches the 80s and higher. Overall I am glad I purchased these pants. They are comfortable and I feel good with a little more protection with the knee pads. February 11, 2014
Good Fit I bought these a size small because they were not to be used as an overpant as recommended by the video. Things l like: Nice fit without a baggy feel. Good upper ventilation where the mesh is located. 2 good size pockets up front. Things I don't like: Not much lower leg ventilation, will have to slightly unzip the bottom when it gets warmer. Hip padding is weak. Overall I would recommend the product however I think it is slightly overpriced for what you get, $150 would be a better price point for these pants. As always great shipping, received item in 2 days. November 18, 2013
Great pants great pants - attaching to same brand jacket via zipper is a little tedious (a clasp design seems better) has pockets and armor in all the right places, fits comfortably enough for every day commute usage. Relatively light. October 15, 2013
Confort fit and great quality I bought this oxygen pants for commuting with the alpinestars viper air jacket that can be zipped together. They are very comfort to use them as overpants and it offer the right amount of protection. It mesh flow nicely... I say they'll work perfect from 4 to 28 Celsius. October 7, 2013
Great overpants! I wear these over my work clothes when I commute. Great fit and they breathe well. They unzip all the way to the knee, which makes taking them on/off super easy. I definitely recommend. August 12, 2013
Keeps the boys cool. I have been wearing these overpants all summer. They are big enough to go over my jeans or I go commando when it is really hot. They keep me cool when moving, but will heat up fast if you are sitting still. The two pockets are big enough to hold a cell phone and wallet, but there is no pass through on the pockets. You have to unsnap them to get to your jeans pockets. The hip padding is minimal, but the knee armor is strong and sits in the right place when on the bike. There is no adjustability in the knee armor. The length is a little long. I am 5' 8" with a 33" inseam and I purchased the large. July 29, 2013
Nice overpants I bought these for additional protection when riding in the canyons, vs riding in kevlar jeans. I'm 5'10, 165 and have worn these over some gym shorts. The pants do exactly what I expected out of them, however there are two things I wish were better on them. 1. The mesh is a little on the sparse side, I would have preferred if there were more airflow. Below the knee, there's no mesh, and you'll find that area starting to sweat heavily, especially if you're wearing boots of any sort. 2. The knee pads are nice, however they slide around a lot. The pocket where the pad goes is barely large enough for the pad to fit. They tend to move around quite a bit, and I find myself constantly readjusting and making sure the velcro keeps the pocket closed. This is rather annoying, and probably my biggest complaint with the pants. July 29, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Taylor S: Trusted brand, good Revzilla reviews, on sale, video showed nice features, and you need ventilated gear to ride in the big ATL. Oct 17, 2014
N O: very protective and easely transportable in a backpack when not riding Sep 25, 2014
Ryan I: Hot Arizona summers. Shins still get sweaty(no mesh area) waist clasp broke after a couple months. AStars sent me a replacement snap-button type(for free). Jul 8, 2014

jesse r: I thought I would free ball it in these on hot days. Never did for the lack of complete confidence in textile/mesh pants. Plus carpet burn would not be pleasant. They zip to my A* Indy jacket, keep you a bit warm on cooler days, at the same time keeping you cool on hot days. Somewhat. The black absorbs heat from the direct sunshine. They worked great paired with padded riding shorts. Dec 5, 2013
R A: looking for some extra protection over my jeans when I ride to work in the summer. Nov 15, 2013

Dylan E asked: I wear size 13 boots. Will I be able to pull these pants over my boots, or have to take my boots off first? Aug 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Jacky C: There's a velcro strap on the ankle which allows you to adjust the circumference of the opening.

Furthermore, the zipper on the leg goes all the way up the knees, so you can leave your boots on as you get in and out of these pants.

A shopper asked: Do these pants have any hip or coccyx padding/protection? Jun 30, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Thomas M: There was some flimsy foam padding for the hips. This seemed to be the standard with the mesh pants. So, I modified the hip pad pocket to accept a pair of d30 hip pads. This worked great. Jul 1, 2014

A s: There is extra padding on the hips, nothing on the back. Knee protection is hard shell. Jun 30, 2014

Pat V asked: I'm 6 ft tall and have a 36" waist. Would the L or XL fit me better? Oct 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Ryan I: I'm 5'10" 200lbs w/ 38" waist and the XL pants are slightly too small around the waist (with shorts/pants on underneath). Also they're a couple inches too long so I would say the XL would be perfect for ya. The sinches on the side will help with the fit as well. Also make sure to get the updated ones with the venting on the shins. I sweat like crazy when the temps are >90 degrees with the older non-vented version. Oct 10, 2014

Geoffrey M: I bought this pant for my son almost two years ago as a gift. He's 6'1' about 195 lbs and athletic with large thighs but a 33 waist. Same question as to best fit L or the bigger in the waist XL. We went XL and it was the right decision. The knee pads fit in the right place and the waist was not too large to adjust to a snug fit.. It's been in constant use and still in great condition.. Oct 10, 2014

Arnold C: I'm 5'10", waist is about 33, I wear an L. I could also wear something under it when its cold. The adjustable waist helps out when I wear something under it or when I don't. In my opinion you should go with XL, I think... Hope it helps. :) Oct 9, 2014

Chad H asked: The description says it will zip in to "selected Alpinestars leather and textile jackets". Will these be compatible with my new Alpinestars GP Plus R jacket? Thanks May 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joel M: I don't have that exact jacket but all their stuff is compatible. They don't do a good job describing it but the "selected" part refers to items with zippers; their wording makes it sound like there are different types of zippers.

If the top says it fits bottoms and the bottoms stay they fit tops, they fit. It's really that simple.

What they should say though is, "Fits all Alpinestars pants that zip together with jackets" and for pants, "Fits all Alpinestars jackets that zip together with pants.

Matthew L: I don't know if it will fit that jacket for sure but I do know that mine came with an extra zipper piece that matches the one on the pants. I used the extra piece and sewed it to my icon overlord jacket so they would work together. May 12, 2014

Mike T asked: I ordered these in 2XL since i wear 40" waist jeans. Unfortunately, they were way too small (to use as over pants). I am wondering if they will be large enough if I bump up to 3XL Revzilla was great with the return and all. I just don't want to keep going back and forth. Are there are other over pants folks would recommend instead? Apr 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Colt T: Mike, I think you'd be hard pressed to actually use these as an overpant with a 40" waist, if you have large thighs. I bumped up from an XL to XXL and still have ZERO room in the thighs. They are snug. If I wear anything other than boxer briefs, I legitimately think I'm going to tear them and it's uncomfortable because whatever I'm wearing underneath is scrunched up. I have larger than normal muscular thighs, but they're not HUGE. And for the record, I'm in between 36" and 38" waist jeans, with a 34" inseam. I have no issues with the length, my issues are in the thigh room and waist. If the increase from XXL to 3XL is anything like the increase from XL to XXL (jwhich was relatively minor), I'd probably need a 4XL to use these as an over pant for jeans. I might be able to get away with a 3XL as an over pant for suit pants though. May 7, 2014

Geoffrey M: I purchased this pant as a gift for my son to go with his Alpinestars jacket. I can't answer about size other than, in his case at 6' 1", 205 lbs and athletic build similar to the demonstrator in the video, the XL was an excellent fit. However, as a vented overpant that has been in almost daily use for over a year, he's been very happy with the quality, comfort and durability of the pant and would definitely purchase this pant again. Matt D asked: I am pretty thin and tall. Usually wear a 31x32 or 31x34 size for jeans. Do you think a medium will fit? Sep 17, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Andrew L: I'm 6'2" and generally wear a 33/34-34 jeans. I went with the large since I wear them as overpants and the waist is perfect. The length on them is good but the knee armor is a little high on me so it rides up over my knee on longer rides. I ride an SV650 on stock pegs so take that for what it's worth with respect to leg position. Sep 17, 2013

gilma j: the medium will fit in the waist, the length is iffy at best Oct 20, 2013
