Added protection, cool style Wanted something I could wear over shorts in the tropical heat of Hawaii that offers protection and airflow. I'm a 32 waist with a 30 inseam. Ordered the small. Fits snug over a pair of jeans, but comfortable. Fits perfectly over a pair of shorts. Zipper on the leg comes up to the knee making it incredibly easy to put on or take off while wearing riding shoes or boots. Also like that it can zip into my AStars T-GP Pro Air Jacket. Decent buy Bought these pants for occational riding. Easy to get on and off. Seem pretty durable for what they are. I'm a pretty small person and wear 30-30 jeans. Bought the smallest available size and they are only slightly looser than they should be. Probably the sizes are pretty accurate. I would say they are a good buy. December 2, 2014
Great warm weather pants Fit is spot on with the sizing guides. Even though they are an "overpant", I often just wear a pair of gym/running shorts under them when I'm just going out for a ride and not to a particular destination. They fit well over a pair of jeans or khakis too and mate up perfectly with the zipper on the Viper Air jacket. Price and durability score a little lower for me because I think you're paying for the name a bit with these pants and mesh isn't going to protect you like leather. Accepting the fact that they are not leather and I'm not wearing them for the track, they're great pants though. July 22, 2014
Great over pants I wish they were a little more protective, but they're great pants all around. June 30, 2014
A new rider's perspective I've had these pants for about 7,500 miles of daily commuting now and so far they've been great! I haven't had the chance to test just how durable they are in a crash, but I'm hoping I will never have to. The padding in the hips tended to shift inside their pockets, so they needed to be readjusted every once in a while, but that's not a big deal to me. The knee padding doesn't have that problem and are the most pronounced pads in the entirety of the pants. The fabric below the knees is light and makes for great airflow. As a new rider who had gone from a pair of heavy duty work pants to the Alpine Star's, it was kind of a shock to see there was literally no protection on the shins. The leg zippers go from the outside of the ankle all the way up past the inside of the knee, making removal of the pants very easy, even with riding boots on. I put them on and take them off twice daily without any problem. I'm a 32/32 fit, so I purchased the Medium size pants and they ended up being a little snug with a pair of jeans on underneath. They aren't terribly uncomfortable, but there is no room for adjustment on the velcro waist bands. I figured if I'd worn them for a while, they'd stretch, but so far, they haven't, which is good and bad. The leg length ended up being perfect, placing the knee pads perfectly over my knees. I'm not sure if the blokes at Revzilla would let me return these pants for a Large pair considering how long it's been since I received them, which by the way, delivery was fast! Always a joy ordering from Revzilla. For a first pair of riding pants, I'm very happy with them. I don't have any experience with anything other than these, so I wasn't sure if a perfect score made sense. If you're a 32/32 fit, I would definitely say that a Large is probably the more comfortable route, size-wise. June 23, 2014
Good all-around over-pants These are good over-pants for all around 3 season use, maybe commuting around such as I do. They are not built for when it's really cold, and they are not specifically rain pants, although they probably would help if the rain was light. They are a lightweight solution with good armor in the knees, and a bit of padding around the sides. I do like how they have a nice big zipper for boot on/off, and they are easy to pull over your regular clothes. The one thing to be aware of is that they are cut large to size. I'm a 32/30 waist and generally get medium shorts or pants, and the Small fits me fine. May 8, 2014
Good Good airflow. I don't strap the ankles too tight so the only place getting too warm is around the seat. Hasn't been too hot here yet, so don't know how well in the 80-90's they will work. May 7, 2014
Works fine, pretty happy Like all Alpinestars gear, the quality is quite good. Material isn't too thick (they're just overpants). Knee protection is quite meh. Very thin, and doesn't cover a large area, so if I happen to move in a crash, the knee protection could very easily move out of place. I'm 5'11", 145lbs (aka skinny), wear 30x32 jeans, slim fit (but not skinny jeans), and these SIZE SMALL overpants slide on and off easily without shoes (I didn't try with shoes, but I'm sure it would be ok). I picked these for the ventilation, and for the slim fit. I contacted revzilla and they said these were some of the slimmest overpants, as most of them are quite baggy. The waist had a bit of extra space (probably fits well for a 31" waist, but it does come with some elastic velcro to tighten it). These are still baggy compared to my jeans, or even compared to regular fit jeans, but hey they're supposed to go over jeans. I'd like if the knee protection was larger and curved to help them stay in place and cup itself around my knee. And maybe a slimmer fit (since I'm a skinny guy). I feel like they'll protect from abrasion during a crash. Material is pretty good and I feel like they'll last me a long time. April 30, 2014
