Decent glove, needs break-in time
These Alpinestars gloves look really nice and have the nice knuckle protectors as well as sturdy construction. The only thing to note is that they do run SMALL compared to US glove sizes. I knew ahead and have had no issues. Normally I wear L but after trying on a pair of a friends that were XL I realized i was going to need 2XL. They fit fine with one exception. The right pinky finger was very stiff and uncomfortable (very, very) for the first few rides but just as I was thinking of not wearing them I noticed that it was breaking in finally. Now both gloves feel fine and I'm good to go.

Totally impressed
Don't have them that long but first impressions were great, where other gloves would cut into my upper part of the thumb these gloves are seamless and I can therefore ride much longer with them than I would with others.
The full leather aspect is a definite plus giving you that feeling of extra protection.
I bought a large but this was after sending pics of my hand measurements and with some assistance I got the right size so cant really comment on being true to size or not.
The only downside I would have to these leather gloves are that for a 3 quarter its still a bit short and the thumb is a bit long so you've pretty much gotta remove the gloves to do anything intricate
That being said still a great glove and looks awesome to boot!

A solid glove from A*s
I purchased this glove for the cooler spring and fall days here in michigan. I have a "cold weather" riding glove that i find too bulky and clunky for the controls and levers.
I have a pair of A*s SMX textile gloves that fit great and provide a good amount of protection, but freeze my hands during the colder temps.
My thought was that the Octane S moto glove, being all leather, would cut the wind down slightly during the 40 - 55 degree temps.
First off, I ordered an XL since my other A*s in XL fit perfect. The Octane are very snug out of the packaging. I even tried to break them in for a week just driving to work and they are still very tight. My first few short rides in the gloves have found my hands working extra hard for normal operation of controls and levers. For now, i am going to chalk this up to being all leather in construction and hope that they will break in a bit more as others have noted. that is also the reason for the comfort and fit ratings being slightly lower.
Construction of the glove seems spot on for A*s. Nothing exceptional, but I dont expect them to fall apart anytime soon either. I think once broken in they will be very comfortable and last for many years (again, fingers crossed - sorry no pun intended).
Styling is a little on the power ranger side, and i could do without the repeated logos, but this is expected from the brand.
Protection seems to be excellent. the knuckle guard is robust and the added layers of leather are well placed. The ring to pinky finger bridge seems a bit gimmicky, but I am going to do everything in my power to not prove my suspicion.
I'll wear these into the start (at least) of summer to gage the comfort level in the heat. If the full leather is not unbearable, i will probably just use this glove for all of my riding since the protection is much better than the summer SMX glove.
I also considered the Rev'it Curb glove that seemed to fly under the radar a little better than the A*s, but a few issues from the reviewers kept me away. Hopefully i wont regret that decision down the road...

A-Stars Octane-S Moto glove
I bought this glove seeking a bit more protection for my everyday urban riding. Glove looks great, and provides a great deal of protection for a short cuff. Was a little stiff and snug at first but after a few rides it feels great. The breathable leather and hardened knuckle are great features. Will definitely buy again.

very protective
I bought these gloves and at the start they were to small and made my fingers hurt. After a month of riding they fit perfect and are the best fitting glove. i had an accident and hit the side of a brick wall knuckels first. broke the side of my bike pretty good. The knuckle plate and the gel impact did their job. my hand hurt for a month but came out fine. i reccomend this glove.

Great after break-in
The first week I had these gloves was a little rough. As with all leather gloves they took a bit of time to break in, but when they did all the rough spots worked themselves out. For the money I haven't found a better short cuff glove for the daily commuter. Protection is solid, but you can still feel the controls very well.

Good gloves
Ordered a large first time they were too small, returned them exchange for x-large. The only problem with them is that the right thumb is bigger than the left one and it is quite obvious. The smaller thumb fits my left hand perfect, but the right one a bit bigger. Not a huge problem I just did not expect this from Astar especially a product in that price range.
Another thing is that in my opinion, the bridge between fourth and little finger does not offer the protection as described, as they don't keep the two fingers together. With my hand in the glove, I can move the little finger using the other hand any direction, without the bridge strap pulling the fourth finger. So I think it's form over function.
Overall they fit well except for the right thumb, and the back of the hand is a bit loose. Not that they'll come off if you fasten the velcros, it's just not tight enough for me. Feel like my size is between the large and x-large. I like the goat skin palm as they are very soft and offers excellent feel on the bars and levers and also very grippy. I also like the design of the knuckle protection feels it can take a hit and is confidence inspiring.
