Comfy, Practical,........Good Looking! These are my first pair of riding boots. I have a lot to learn but with so many riding boot choices....I am happy with my selection. They are true to size......easy to slide on and slip out of. The Hydro sports have great foot bed support. As well as ankle and shin protection. The air flow is average.....I have not tested them in the rain but am confident they will prevent water intrusion. Lastly, they are sharp looking. I have received multiple compliments about their appearance. The Hydro Sports constantly deliver!!! July 15, 2014
Great boots Bought these to replace a pair of ankle boots I bought - which I also liked - because I wanted more protection of my calf. They don't breathe super well, but they're comfy, waterproof, durable and easy to get on and off. Definitely recommend. July 1, 2014
Excellent boots for all wheater riding The boots are very good in all wheater. The fit is good and after a few ride, the leather extends to you feet like gloves. They are not to stiff, not to soft. In rain, there is no water infiltration. I will test the summer riding, but they seem to pass enought air to cool the feets. I would recommend this product. June 2, 2014
Good booties, keep me warm and dry As advertised, good value, nice fit, look good. Going to be worn all winter. October 21, 2013
Just the boot I was looking for! Road my first Iron Butt in these boots, two days after they arrived. At 4am leaving Fallon, NV, with temps in the upper 40's, through rain and hail by mid-day in Salt Lake City, 80's by late afternoon, and mid-60's by the time the ride was complete in WA, these boots were great! Good highway boot for my Super Tenere (and the 1000 mile run), and was very comfortable for a 150 mile day ride on a Gold Wing. I recommend these boots. September 24, 2013
Great value for price point I have put about 1000 miles on these boots and have not been disappointed with them. They are waterproof and have kept me dry during two rainstorms. They break in very quickly and are comfortable as all get out, but they do run hot. Actually, they don't breath at all, which is what I expected. That doesn't negate the fact that at 70 degrees I'm sweating pools into my boots, but that might just be my frigid alaskan heart melting. I am starting to notice significant wear to the heel of my left boot, after about 3 months of moderate use. I would not suggest any kind of hiking/extended walking in these boots as the rubber sole wears quickly on hard surfaces/in the heat. Overall a good boot for the price. August 27, 2013
You can't go wrong with this boot. I read the other reviews before buying because my only real concern was how they would fit. I typically wear a size 10.5 US and my feet are very narrow. I have rarely ordered footwear on line because sizing varies so much between shoe or boot manufacturers. I decided to take a chance and ordered a Euro 45. They actually fit very well. If anything they feel slightly large but a heavy sock or an insole makes them fit perfectly. As for the features and style, again they have really hit the mark. They look sporty without being the full race look. The quality is there as you'd expect from Alpinestar. I wore them on a 1400 mile, three day trip to Chicago and found them very comfortable. I haven't tested their waterproof feature yet but I'm confident that they will deliver. I love these boots. June 24, 2013
Nice boots I saw A-stars' sizing chart, and Revzillas' addendum to it and was still not quite sure what size to get. I'm an 8-1/2, and would buy a boot in a 9. i tried 42 and 43, and sIze 43 is a US 9. April 15, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Scott C: PNW weather and 4-season riding. I reviewed all the top-end makers (Sidi, A-Stars, ICON) and this boot had a price point $100-$150 lower (still have $$ to replace brake pads and maintenance on the bike)!
I have been very happy with all my Alpinestars purchases. We will see how this fits/functions.

Rich B: Good quality, very comfortable and reasonable price. Mar 16, 2014
Pascal A: Looking for replacement boots but my Sidi model is no more (fusion rain). I am trying this one. Just for kicks. Mar 6, 2014
Mike M: I needed a good all around pair of riding boots, I looked at lots of options. I've been impressed with A-Stars products in the past and wanted to see how these would work out. They are comfortable and perform exactly like I needed and wanted them to. Also Revzillas return policy took away all my concerns if they didn't fit or look like I wanted. Dec 7, 2013
Ronald J: As an everyday rider, I wanted a water proof boot and these fit the bill. They keep my feet and lower leg warm and dry. The left boot heel developed a clicking or defecent support and I am sending them back to Alpinestards for resolution. I will update this when I get them back. Oct 20, 2013

Vishan P asked: Hi, does this boot have ankle protection on the inside as well as outside? I.E. Both sides of the ankle bone. Sep 10, 2013

peter q: hi vishan p

i'm not sure if u mean kevlar or something else---there is no kevlar or whatever---there is good padding---i can tell u that the boots are extremely comfortable and perform good in all weather---break in time is almost nil, i wore them around the house, then the next day i went out for a ride, no problems. the velcro is a bit of a pain but after a few times of wearing them, once again no problem---i have recommended these boots to a friend of mine, for me, that's how good they are. when walking they are better than a shoe. i hope this helps you in your decision. highly recommended.

Mike M: Outside only. Having said that the closure on the inside of the boot is giving me two to three layers of material instead of just one layer of boot. My guess would be that Astars is using the closure system as the inside protection. They are very comfortable to me. Sep 25, 2013

BRIAN W: Hello. Do u mean like an armour plate inside? I dont think so??
The boots are pretty damn awesome though. I have over 12K mi on them. I have been in plenty of rain storms and nothing ever got thru in the time i rode in it. They are durable as hell.

mark n: Hi . the hydro sport boot does not appear to have ankle protection on the inside but it seems to have adequate protection on the outside especially around the ankle bone . very comfortable boot , I would definitely recommend them Sep 26, 2013

JAMES T: I love the boots but the ankle protection is pretty much the same on both sides in my opinion. This is not a racing boot so the ankle protection is moderate. Sep 25, 2013

Martin W: No. Just outside. meaning the part of the boot that faces away from the bike. The inside is just the zipper and leather/Velcro. Hope that makes sense. Sep 25, 2013

Justin F: Yes it does. I has 2 ply on the outside and 1 ply on the inside. These boots have helped keel my ankle attached to the rest of me. Sep 25, 2013

marc k: The ankles are very well protected all the way around. There is no extra protection that I can tell. Sep 26, 2013

A shopper asked: What is the circumference of the opening? I have a very wide/thick calf. Oct 19, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
OldYeller: To accurately answer your question requires you to provide your shoe size, since the opening will vary based on size purchased.

FYI - I wear the Revit Rival H20s and love them. Have about 12,000 miles in them and they're holding up great, are super comfy, warm and dry (my review is on Revzilla somewhere). Nothing bad to say about these boots but since they're the same style of boot thought the info might be helpful. As to the calf size - I can't imagine a fitting problem with the Rivals - They have a velcro adjustment at the top and there's a pretty wide range of fit available.
