Sizing problems for me
I'm 6' 4" and 230 lbs. Relatively athletic build. US 46L or 44XL suit jacket. Finding a good fit is usually a difficult task, and this jacket was no exception. I ordered the 2XL. Length-wise it was just about right -- maybe a touch short in the sleeves in a riding position. Body was just a touch tight and sleeves were uncomfortably tight. With out any external tighening points, maybe they were trying to keep the jacket from flapping around on the bike (and it probably would have worked), but with the purpose of this jacket being for use both on and off the bike, it was simply too uncomfortable.
* wasn't really clear how the hood stows.
* came with foam in place of back and chest armor.
* zip-out armor mesh is a neat idea, but seemed difficult to actually get out or back in. same for lining.
* concerned that lack of any venting would limit usefulness
Sent back, mainly due to sizing issue. Its a shame. I would really like to see more dual-purpose jackets like this.

Excellent new jacket from Alpinestars
After living with this jacket for 5K miles, I am very happy to say the Dusk is comfortable, ventilates excellently, is totally waterproof, and has the fantastic feature of allowing all the armor to easily zip out in under a minute. So far, the jacket has kept me warm and dry during not only my daily commute on the east coast (30º-80ºF since purchase), but also through a 90ºF+, 10-day west coast motorcycle camping trip. Since the jacket doesn’t make me look like I’m wearing tactical gear when off the bike and has a built-in hood, I am able to save the space I normally reserve for packing a technical/rain jacket.
Prior to buying, I was worried about the hood flapping in the wind while riding. But, I have not experienced that at all. Another worry was the hood filling up with rain. Again, doesn’t seem to be the case even in some serious downpours. So far, it is completely unnoticeable when I am on the bike and I’m thankful it’s there when off.
I added the Klim D3O Viper T5 Pro Back Protector (it fits perfectly in my medium sized Dusk without any alteration) and the Aplinestars Bionic Chest Pads. Both items work great in the mesh liner.
Taking a chance on a new product line is always a risky proposition. In this case, I am really glad I went with the Dusk.

Craig K: I needed a jacket that is stylish, warm and waterproof.Aug 16, 2015
F I: wanted something I could wear off the bike for city riding - commuting and errands -- and not look like a power ranger. I chose this over other very nice looking products from Dianese and others because of the removable armor chassis.Nov 11, 2014
Daniel B: I love the versatility and lots of useful features of this jacketJun 10, 2014
Sean H: I wanted a casual looking, yet protective, jacket for my in-city riding.Apr 22, 2014
A shopper asked:The brown jacket has a orange liner (as video shows). What color is the liners is for the other color jackets?Sep 8, 2013
"" ":The Armor only zips into the thermal liner. Technically you can wear it without the thermal but it will not fit very well. I use this jacket in the winter and snowboarding and it is great for both applications.Aug 21, 2014
Joe C:the thermal liner can be taken out and still have the armour in place..so no problems there - but in relation to my climate in the uk i would view this as a 3 season jacket...it is not a breathable waterproof fabric so in temperatures over 70F it's a bit too close for me as are most other textiles which aren't summer specific - i love this dusk jacket though..it's a proper tasty threadSep 8, 2015
Mostafa S:The jacket is perfect more than perfect , but take care for sizing , my size is large but the jacket was little big . But don't worry the jacket is amazing for cold weather and rain .also you can upgrade the inside chest pad & the back protector.Dec 29, 2014
Mosey L asked:This jacket looks so interesting to me. I love that you can easily turn this in to a non moto jacket. My concern is that I usually skip the interior liner and use my gerbing liner. Anyone have any experience putting a liner under this liner? I wish the protective pads could zip in to the outer shell. Especially for early spring early fall.Oct 31, 2014
Gordon B:I haven't put a liner under the liner, but imagine it would be tight. My jacket is quite snug and tight when I have all the layers (liner, pads and shell) zipped together.
One thing I have done -- and has more room -- is to use the Alpinestars Dusk Jacket shell, over a summer jacket that has armor. (I have a RevIt summer jacket.) There's enough room in this combination to put the Gerber liner underneath.Oct 31, 2014
A shopper asked:Is there an option to purchase separate parts of this jacket? Lets say just the outer shell in case one got ripped during crash, or just the armor holding mesh if one got stolen from the bag.May 12, 2014
A shopper asked:This is a fantastic jacket only problem is Alpinestar did not make an equivalent to this in their women's ride out collection. Any chance we will see Aplinestar make a women's version of this?Apr 20, 2015
