Solid jacket for the money I found the fit of a medium to be right on, 6' 0", 175 lbs with average build. Waist of 33", chest of 40", inseam of 34" so I'm a little longer on the bottom half than top half and not super skinny. My neck is 16" and the collar is a little snug but it seals against rain, so it's a trade-off. The rain flap is without question a pain but hit a sewing or craft store for a snap and the fix is quick. It really is the only thing I would call a true negative. I have added the Bionic back and chest protectors. The back protector I barely notice but the chest armor could use a little more curve for a better fit. I would definitely suggest adding the back protector, you'll forget it's there. Definitely would buy it again. Comfortable with the liner (acting to block the wind) down to about 50F or me and with the liner I'm fine to the 40s without a problem. It's airy enough to be comfortable up into the 90s while moving as long as you take the rain liner out. With it in it's a bit like wearing a trash bag. September 4, 2014
Good value with slight quirks This is a good multi season jacket. Very good value proposition; the materials are high quality. The jacket provides ample airflow on very hot days. Slight quirks include the fact that the armor in the elbow area has to be adjusted each time you wear the jacket (not time consuming but tedious). Also, the storm collar storage pocket does not properly secure the collar. September 2, 2014
Throat strap Overall good jacket. One thing they need to change is the flap that wraps around your throat and how it secures open. To leave it open and so it doesn't flap you have to tuck the flap into a pocket. Other jackets have a snap or Velcro. To try and push it in there while driving is impossible if it comes loose. Simple fix on the next model. Does drive you crazy though September 1, 2014
OK for the money Let me preface this with the face that I'm used to higher end gear. I only bought this for the few weeks I have to wait on my new Motoport jacket to be made. The jacket fits well. The pocket setup is acceptable. The ventilation is awesome...because it's mesh on the front and arms. I would never consider wearing the rain liner since it's essentially a black trash bag with a comfort liner in it. Most rain liners for jackets in this price range are similar, however. The collar is a bit annoying for summertime use unless you actually want to close the collar all the way up. The neck flap is supposed to tuck back into the collar if you don't want to close it up, but it untucks it's self while riding and flaps around in the wind. The armor is cheap. Back and chest armor aren't even rated for protection and are literally listed as "comfort foam." I replaced the back foam with a CE rated protector from an old jacket. Elbow and shoulder armor are CE rated but don't feel very protective. Elbow armor slides down the arms with the jacket off and constantly needs adjusted back into place when I don the jacket. It doesn't move while wearing the jacket, but it's annoying to have to always located it properly when first wearing the jacket. The Hi-Viz is certainly bright. I have no reason to believe that it will fade quickly. The jacket itself looks pretty good too. Bottom line: I wouldn't consider this a jacket for the cooler weather at all and I'd use my own rain cover instead of the included rain liner when the weather gets wet. The protection is minimally adequate and I'd highly recommend an armor upgrade if this is going to be your primary jacket. It does the job for the <$200 I paid for it. July 28, 2014
Great ventilation, great versatility As I just started street riding on a dual purpose after years of dirt I wanted something with good visibility and some protection. I got this as a closeout special and it is well worth the price. It's really 3 jackets in one. It comes with 2 removable liners, one for rain and another for insulation. On it's own (without any liners) it offers excellent ventilation, and in the high vis trim, excellent visibility. The forearm and shoulder pads are better than nothing, as they're a little on the thin side. The rain liner works well too, at a slight expense to ventilation. I haven't tried the jacket with all 3 layers yet, however with all 3 in I was surprised at the heft; I'm sure it's quite warm. Inserting and removing the various layers is a bit on the fussy side, but I like having the versatility. Also, the forearm guards can poke you a bit until you get the various straps adjusted correctly. Overall, I really like the high-vis style without being too dorky, excellent ventilation and multiple good-sized pockets. Fit is a little on the small side - I'm 5'9" 160lb and the medium is just right but I best not gain any weight! Great performance for the price. Get 'em while they last! July 26, 2014
Well designed touring jacket Browsing for a summer weight jacket I saw this Alpinstars on a featured video with Anthony. Watching that and reading customer comments pretty much sold me on this jacket, but I've been waiting to post a review for some weeks now until I had a real chance to test this item. After a 3 day motorcycle camping trip, I have to say this is a great jacket. Features I like: -- Super airflow, especially on the arms. Really makes a difference. -- Integrated forearm/elbow and shoulder armor + chest and back padding. Also the velcro that lets you tighten up the protection to your arms. -- Lots of front and interior pockets! -- The fit is good and exact. -- Reflective striping! Now, some downsides and this is why I gave it 4 stars only, instead of 5. -- The concept of an interior rain liner seems odd. So it's waterproof, but you're still letting water inside the jacket to the rain liner. No thanks. I'll wear an external shell. -- Non-YKK zippers and split type zipper. The zippers are fine, but there are better quality. Also, the kind of zippers that let you release up from the bottom are irritating. Just one way please. I know it sounds trivial, but YKK makes the best zippers. I'd pay extra for 'em. -- The big pouch on the back is cool but kind of useless. You can't really reach into it on your own without taking the jacket off. I still like it though. -- The collar flap thing doesn't stay tucked in at speed. Not a big deal, but wouldn't have been hard do design that better. Overall, great bang for the buck. My complaints are trivial and the features are phenomenal. You can't go wrong here, just get your size right. July 26, 2014
Like it Just used this for a weekend at Red Lodge Mt. Very comfortable and great air flow on 100 F + days. High visz is just that. Even got some favorable comments from the all Harley crew. July 24, 2014
great jacket bad neck It´s an excellent jacket but it has a great problem, the neck it's to high and chokes a little and makes difficult to turn the head with the helmet on, when it´s hot weather it can be fixed leaving the jacket a little bit open in the neck, but in cold weather it's a problem, I have to wear something in the neck, like a scarf. The rest of the jacket it's awesome July 20, 2014

A shopper asked: Can the Drystar liner be used without the thermal one? Jul 9, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jean-Pierre F: Yes it can, you can have either one of them or both or none. It is really adaptable to all needs.

Once you take out the Drystar liner though, there's a lot of air circulation even with the thermal still in.

Also, be aware the collar is a bit high and the velcro is very agressive and will catch the bottom of you helmet liner if not attached. It's a minor nuisance if you take in consideration this jacket is very well done when it comes to fit.

Size wise, if you are not slim built, it'll be tight if you follow the size chart. I suggest you take a size up from chart if you're... Humm, well rounder in some area, if you catch my drift.

All in all, a great bang for the buck.

JOCK H: Yes, though inn the video about the product they show a one piece liner that is both thermal and waterproof, when mine came it was two piece, a zip in water proof liner and a thermal liner that can zip out of the waterproof liner. It's a nice jacket for the $. Jul 9, 2014

Arvin L: Yes, you can use the Drystar liner without the micro-fleece thermal liner as depicted in the video review. As a side note, I stay cooler using the Drystar liner vs using my Frogg Toggs Horny Toadz over jacket in warm weather. Jul 10, 2014

Matt B: Yes. And the thermal liner isn't just a vest. It has sleeves. I just wore mine for a 2800 mile trip. The dry star liner works great. I was in the rain for 2 1/2 hours and my torso was completely dry. Great jacket. Jul 19, 2014

Kyle H asked: Is the liner and shell washable? Jun 7, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kivaan E: The thermal liner definitely is, I wouldn't be in a hurry to try washing the waterproof membrane liner however, I'm unfamiliar with the properties of this material and a quick wipe with a damp cloth cleans it up nively anyway. As for the shell, well machine wash on 'delicate' should be fine but I stick to hand washing simply due to the rigidity and bulkiness of parts of it (not that the jacket is rigid or bulky as such, I've just seen machines destroy synthetic garments that aren't totally supple like a t-shirt etc.). Jun 8, 2014
Reply to Kivaan Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Tim A: The Jacket is washable, just pull out the Armour first, the Waterproof inner liner is washable, however the Thermal liner isn't, I believe it needs to be dry cleaned. Jun 8, 2014

Mohamed H asked: Hi

I have a Alpinestars GP Plus in size Euro 60 and want to get a summer 3/4 length jacket. Is the CT suitable? Also looks like I could go with a 2xl or 3xl. Which would you recommend?

thomas g: Hey Mohamed
I used the sizing chart that Alpinestars provided on Revzilla. I usually wear a large jacket, but ordered the xl per their sizing chart. I live in Texas, and its very hot in the summer. This jacket flows plenty of air. I really like it. It also serves very well as my cold weather jacket, with the rain liner and quilted liner installed.
Hope this helps

Eric S: The CT flows a lot of air; i have been riding in 90+ weather and as long as moving am comfortable. Unfamiliar with euro size but the size chart runs true, I’m 6'1' 260 and wear a 2xl and fits well Jun 18, 2014

SuperFLY91: You should try ICON directly for that one...I doubt any vendors will sell them seperately, but ICON customer service might help. If not, you might be able to find something from Northface or Gander Mountain to wear underneath...good luck! Oct 30, 2012

Grant C: I bought Cape Town Air but discovered very quickly too warm for Florida except for winter quarter of the year, so bought second jacket Alpinestars T-GP-R Air Jacket which flows more air with liner removed. I am able to switch the Bio armor chest and back protectors between the two jackets.
For pants I wanted decent protection that flowed air also. I have been happy with Alpinestars A-10 Air-Flo Pants.
Needless to say when it is hot and you are stationary you will be warm (hot!) no matter what, but as soon as moving both products flow a decent amount of air to keep comfortable.
Separate rain suit is necessary as trade off to flow air.

Mathew D: I got the Rev'it Airwave pants and have been pretty happy with them. When I wear shorts the knee protector is a little rough but not to the point of being uncomfortable. I think they give good airflow for the protection they provide. I also upgraded to the rigid protection in the Cape Town jacket, and while it does reduce airflow I think it was worth it. May 19, 2014
