Fits ok in GP Pro Jacket I purchased the medium based on the size chart but didn't fit great in a 42. I put the foam piece in it and fits better. August 11, 2014
Good stuff Very nice back protector. I wish it was a bit more restrictive when bending backwards but it's still a great product very comfortable don't even know it's there. Worth every penny. Hope to never use it. ;) August 4, 2014
Good replacement back protector Not too expensive to replace the flimsy piece of foam in the back of my jacket. Fits as designed in the back protector pocket. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some better back protection in your astar jacket. July 29, 2014
great protector Awesome fit in my Dianese air frame Womens jacket. once broken in it flexes and forms to the body making it feel like its not even there July 28, 2014
Great back protector Very light and seems to be very high quality. Definitely worth purchasing if you need it. July 28, 2014
worth $30 this product is not the best but it is worth $30 so your spine doesn't snap in half. Also, when it's new it's sort of stiff but it'll loosen up so it'll have nice flexibility July 20, 2014
Great upgrade for foam back pad. Bought this to upgrade the back pad in my Tech-Air Jacket. The jacket is a size 38US/48EU and I purchased the size medium, perfect fit. Love the flexibility of the back protector, and air flow is what you'd expect from a piece of flexible, high-density foam with holes in it: It works, but could be better. Overall very happy with the upgrade. July 12, 2014
Better than foam! Decent insert back protector, a bit on the bulky side with minimal air flow. Bought it for my casual Dainese leather jacket, much better than the foam and more convenient than having to put on my strap on protector. July 7, 2014

A shopper asked: Is this back protector to be used with or without the factory perforated foam piece? May 18, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
alutz187: I guess if the foam piece AND the SAS Tec piece both fit in your slot in your jacket it's probably not a horrible idea to use both. I would think this would get really uncomfortable and would restrict air flow. The sas tec armor manufactured and tested to withstand the hardest impacts by itself, so it's not necessary to use both. Also, the sas tec piece is much more flexible and body conforming then the foam, so the foam might restrict you from getting the full perks of having this armor. May 23, 2011

forzaArmata: Thanks for the replies everybody.

However...
Upon inserting this back protector into my Tech 1-R jacket, I realized that it flops around unless the factory foam piece is in there with it. It adds a little more bulk, but it is totally manageable. It just doesn't feel right on its own.

Thanks.

Tim88: I just put mine in outside the foam i.e. foam closer to my back, for a bit of added comfort and protection. It still fits snugly, and bulks the jacket out a bit too. I doubt leaving the foam in or out will make much difference if you prang Dec 5, 2011
Reply to Tim88 Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Clevermeat: I guess it really depends on the type of jacket you've got and how thick the foam piece is and how much room you've got. I tried doing just that with my Shift jacket and both of them just wouldn't fit inside the sleeve for the armor. Nov 28, 2011

Chris K: The Factory Foam piece is more of a place-holder for an upgraded back protector. It is meant to be removed upon inserting something more heavy duty. May 24, 2011

TDevil7: Can be used with but mostly meant to be used without. The foam piece will just add bulk for no real added protection. Feb 5, 2012

A shopper asked: I have the Alpinestars Women's Stella Sigma Drystar Jacket in a size med and I am wondering if the Alpinestars Bio Armor Back Protector will fit into the jacket and if so what size? also this is a hard shell correct??? Sep 18, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Tyler D: This back protector isn't really a "hard shell" it is a high density rubber material much like your shoulder and elbow pads most likely are. The material will flex and mold to you body once warmed. The best way to know what size you need is to measure the height of the pocket in your jacket. There is typically a foam insert in there already so that may be measured if you wish. there is then a sizing chart:

Small 14.5" Height
9.75" Widest Point
6.5" Narrowest Point

Medium 16.25" Height
9.5" Widest Point
6.75" Narrowest Point

Large 18.5" Height
10" Widest Point
6.75" Narrowest Point

The piece could also be trimmed due to the material but I would not suggest that. I own one and love it.

Joann H: I have the AStars Anouke leather jacket in a size 10 with the Bio Armor back protector that Revzilla recommended and selected the size for it.
It fits very well and is comfortable because it its horizontal segmentation. This is a stiff and substantial armor, but it is not hard shell. It is much beefier than the thin foam pad that came with the jacket, though. A good upgrade.

Michael G: It is not hard shell. The protector is all the same material. If you were to hit the protector when on a table, the material feels like the density of clay. The density is not like foam Sep 18, 2013

Randy H: It is or one or the other, can't use two of them.

Get the thin D3o back protector one if you can find it here. More flexible and thinner in the coat. Like one that comes in the Klim Latitude jacket.

A s: Cumbersome is a good word, I think it would be overkill and awkward from a comfort standpoint. Either or, I would just use one, the way the Mfg. intended it to be used.

Joann H: Sorry, I have no idea.
Sounds like two back protectors in one back protector pocket would be very cumbersome and immobilizing. Might be hard on the pocket fabric too where it wears.
I use the bio armor protector and it seems ideal—more protection and better fitting than the stock Astars back pad.

A shopper asked: Hi, I am currently ordering the Alpinestars T-GP-R Air Jacket in a small. Since I am currently unable to measure the pocket size for the BioArmor, what size would fit the best in the jacket? Feb 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Dave P: I wouldn't get the large it is large and heavy and with an air jacket will take away the air flow.
Call Rev and talk to them. Small might be too small and maybe medium is best but they sould answer that.

I would ask them about different brands that might be best suggested because it seems to me everything is enter changeable.

A shopper asked: I have an Alpinestars TZ-1, size US 44. What size back protector would fit the best? I measured the foam one in it and it doesn't match any of the sizes available. Also do I replace that foam or use both? Feb 2, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joann H: I'm not familiar with that specific model jacket, but I do have 3 AStars jackets, all size 46. When I upgraded the back armor, tha folks at Revzilla sent me what they thought would fit. And it did. I think it was a Small, but not absolutely sure. I'd call and ask them. Exchange is easy too.
You replace the original foam pad with the bio armor, not use them both. The bio armor is a nice upgrade and is very comfortable to wear. It flexes with you and ventilates well enough.

David B: It's your choice if you want to replace the foam or use both. I think the foam is more of a place-holder. Personally, though, I like to use both. I keep the foam between me and the protector. Whenever I yank out the protector to put it into one of my other jackets, the foam will still be there. Mar 8, 2014

RevZilla: Yes, the Alpinestars Bio Armor Back Protector size Medium should fit your Alpinestars Scout jacket size Medium. We would recommend you to compare your back protector pocket measurements with the measurements provided for the Alpinestars Bio Armor Back Protector on its product description. Dec 11, 2012

FriendlyNinja: Best thing to do is to measure the pocket that holds the back insert. Or better yet, if you have a foam insert already, measure that and use the size chart.

The size listed here on Revzilla is accurate and should fit if you measured it correctly.

andrea b: Hey there, I am not sure how the Euro sizing works, but my jacket is a extra small and I ordered the back armor in size snall and it fits well. It covers me well and feels much better than the foam insert my jacket came with. Fits perfect in my jacket. Hope that helps. Revailla offers a great return policy just in case. Feb 25, 2014

FriendlyNinja: Measure your back insert pocket and use the sizing chart.

It's true to size and will fit if your measurements are accurate.

J4hn: I wear an extra large and went with the large bio armor. The fit was good, with some space to spare. The large will probably fit snug for a medium. It may also make the armpit area feel a little tight. I would go with the medium. Hope this helps. May 17, 2011

Chris K: These protectors are measured moreso by height, so if you are about 5'9" to 6'1" I would choose MD. If taller, choose LG, if shorter choose SM. May 16, 2011

Zackery K: The large would fit best. But I would go with the air as this one is quite small. The a* air would offer more coverage of the back Jul 2, 2014

Hector C asked: just to let you know bikers the rc-1 leather jacket is from alpinestars as well. thanks a lot for your advice..????? Feb 4, 2014

Anthony M: It fits well and has more support than the jacket accompanied foam comfort padding. It seems a bit small for the size jacket, not sure if I would recommend purchasing a size up as I do not know if it would fit the jacket and be too large and cumbersome to be effective and comfortable. A shopper asked: The SMK is an older A* jacket, but I was hoping this would fit it, as I do not want to get the older RC back protector. As well, would the A* Bionic chest pad fit in the SMK?

Thanks,
Ben

RevZilla: Since the SMK is an older jacket, we do not have one here to measure. If you measure the length and width of the back protector pocket on your jacket, you can compare it to the measurements for the Bio Armor provided on the Size Chart and see if they line up. Aug 17, 2012

A shopper asked: Is this a highly rated back protector level wise? I see that it's CE Level 1 but also says it's 1621-2. I thought the 2 was reserved for level 2 protection. Jun 25, 2014
