Comfortable fit I have worn these only a few times so far. Fit is great I have used them mountain biking, offroad, and street motorbikes. I don't notice that they are on except when walking, the crotch pad feels funny. I haven't crash tested yet and would prefer not to but I'm sure the day will come. And I'm confident they will give me adequate protection. The only thing I wish they had was some padding protection at the back of thigh. April 15, 2014
Protect your nethers in luxurious comfort I've been wearing these approx a year or so and now feel naked without them whilst riding. They are extremely conformable and I prefer to have some compression in that area to hold "stuff" in place due to vibrations, leaning, or a get off. The thighs and hips give a sense of added protection while the coccyx / tail bone pad is really an upgrade for such an impact prone area. I wear these with Kevlar jeans that include knee pads and wear high moto boots, with these you fell you are completely geared up waist down with no added discomfort. April 7, 2014
Worth the money. Very comfortable, well fitting shorts. While they are a little pricey, they do provide a sense of confidence with the added protection. I wear these every time i ride regardless of distance. March 3, 2014
Great protection gear I was using this shorts when I had a lateral crash with a SUV that made a left turn while I was passing it. As a result I was impacted on all my right side. Fortunatelly I was using full gear including this shorts that protected my hips and upper legs. I highly recommend this protective garment by my own experience, and will be using in all touring rides. March 1, 2014
For that extra $40.00 dollars over cheaper segment well worth it I am 5Ft 7" 79kg with 41inch accross belly button. Thin to Medium boned. Puchased in XL perfect fit. Very comfortable, offer great upgraded protection to the next segment down. Worth upgrading, will not have to upgrade further. These are perfect under a pair of Kevlar reiforced Jeans. I can certainly appreciate the crutch absorbtion padding will be very practicle in hot summer conditions. You just feel more confident with the thigh and hip protection good tail bone protection as well. For my height these pants offer padded protection right down to my knee armour .Great product! Support and Protection First off, I'm a bicyclist, so I am used to wearing lycra shorts. These are essentially thick bike shorts with soft padding on the thighs, hips, and a crotch/tailbone pad. I can imagine that this type of padding would dissipate the energy of a blow to these areas - but do keep in mind this is very soft padding. That being said, I do feel a degree of protection, and I enjoy the support (though not jock strap tight). Best of all, they are extremely comfortable - I've worn them on all day summer rides beneath my Carharts or Levi's without a hitch. My money was well spent! August 19, 2013
not just for motocross I know these are tagged for motocross and ADV riders, but I use them for long distance touring. They're cool, flow decent air and have added armor. As a bicyclist, I'm used to wearing bike shorts with a chamois, and used to wear bike shorts under my riding pants until I found these. The chamois pad provides a nice bit of comfort. I know that butt/seating comfort is very subjective, but I would try these first before modding the bike with an airhawk or similar seat pad. August 6, 2013
Great product but needs a fly! Went on an 8-hour ride yesterday in 90degree+ heat and the KLM Tac Shorts worked great, except when I had to pull over to take a leak, quite the gyrations to get down to pepe...in rattlesnake country, roadside whizzes need to be quick or one can experience a head bite, or worse, a taint bite (cannot tourniquet a taint)...so, bottom line, a workable fly is a must. RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Stephen D: Wanted some protection while riding in jeans, now I wear either these or the Tactical Pant on every ride.
I wish I had these years ago when I broke my hip skiing, these probably would have saved me from that injury.

Gerald M: Protection of tail bone - am hoping that I can sit on my recumbent without pain. Jan 23, 2014
Alexander H: Wanted something to help protect me for when I don't have riding pants. Looks cool and I love Klim products. Dec 15, 2013
Dennis P: I ride in very technical steep and rocky terrain. These offer padding at crucial hip and tail bone areas. Also, no chaffing. Nov 18, 2013
Mark Anthony R: As an upgrade to my existing armourd shorts which are just thin foam, but in tandem with Kevlar reiforced jeans offer better protection. This is a step up again as I am upgrading each piece of my protection from head to toe. Klim tactical shorts offer better (real) armour and hence are an upgrade and should reduce impact impact force. I also liked them because they should fit under my Kevlar reinforced jeans as they are not to bulky.

A shopper asked: I am a 36 in some things and a 34 in others. This being an underwater, should the mediums do the trick? Sep 30, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Gary V: I have a 32/33 inch waist and I wear a Medium. The shorts are neither too loose nor too tight. They do have a tendency to slip down a bit in the waist as my suit or pants pull down on them from bending/crouching.

If you're a 34 inch waist you would probably be at the upper end of the range for a Medium. At a 36, I'd venture to say you're likely to be a Large.

To be on the safe side, order both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit.

Monroe S: Well, they're not underwear. They're armored biker shorts. My waist is 39-40 and I wear the XL. They fit me perfectly - snug, stays in place. My guess is that L should do ya. Oct 2, 2013

Dennis P: Get the 36. These have a high rise. Up to the belly buttom where your waist size is larger than closer to your hips. Oct 1, 2013

Walter G: I am a truly medium, they are a litlle bit loose for me, I think a medium will do it.
Hope this helps!

A shopper asked: With all the questions concerning briefs and this product I would like to know will I still be going "COMMANDO" if I don't wear briefs under the Klim Tactical shorts? Mar 11, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Nathan B: These shorts have a bacteria resistance padding throughout the groin; think of these are armored mountain biking shorts. If you want to go "commando" there will not be an issue. Just make sure you get the right size as you do not want these shorts loose otherwise the riding experience will be less than comfortable. Mar 15, 2014

Ron P: The padded chamois does a good job controlling odor. I was able to got 2-3 days between hotel hand washings. Very comfortable Mar 30, 2014

Brad B: I wear underarmour boxer briefs under mine so I can wash them less often on trips. The UA shorts dry much faster than the chamois liner. Apr 1, 2014

Antonio F G: First of all I'd congratulate you for your choice, it couldn't be better. I always wear my Klim Aggressor brief under the Klim Tactical Short, and the Klim Base Layer over all. I am into long all terrain rides, and Klim has been very responsive!!!!!!

I am 34 inch waist, 200 lbs, 6ft even. I wear size "L" in mine KLIM Tactical shorts, the KLIM Aggressor Briefs, and the Base Layer!!!!!!

I'd say you're probably size "M"

I hope I could help you......

Take Care,

Brad B: I'd order the med and small and return the one that doesn't fit. I'm 5'10" 185 and the large are a bit loose on me. My wife wears the small and they are loose as well for her 5'7" and about 130. Revzilla customer service are great to deal with and return shipping is free.
Great choice by the way. Love the Klim gear.

A shopper asked: How would you wash it? It doesnt look like the pads come out... Apr 10, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Klim recommends that you follow the care tag on the garment, which recommends wearing nothing but the shorts and riding your B.A. Adventure Bike through a raging river torrent, then dry them over a huge bon-fire next to your bear steaks.

Or, you could machine wash on gentle/cold, and hang dry.

A shopper asked: My son has a 30 inch waist,, should I order the SM or MD? May 22, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: Based on the Klim size chart and the measurement that you provided we would recommend the size SM. If you are expecting your son to grow quickly, the MD may be a better choice since it will allow for some growth. Below you will find the recommendation from the Klim size chart:

XS: waist 24-27
S: waist 28-31
M: waist 32-35
L: waist 36-39
XL: waist 40-43
2XL: waist 44-47
3XL: waist 48-51
4XL: waist 52-55
5XL: waist 56-59
