Comfortable protection
I wanted some hip and thigh protection since most riding pants have little to no protection so I got the Klim Tactical Shorts. The armor is extremely comfortable due to its flexibility and is low profile so the shorts fit under my jeans. I feel that the coverage is adequate if I ever need it.

Good Shorts
Bought the Tactical Shorts and have worn them during the last year. I haven't had to test their protective qualities in a crash, but I have tested their comfort qualities on long rides. The padded seat definitely helps to reduce some of the vibration on the bike and the compression material helps to reduce some of the muscle fatigue in the legs.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with the product.

Superior Tactical Shorts
KLIM Tactical Shorts are worth every dollar spent! Ultimate comfort and exceptional material and worthy of Gangnam style riding without fatigue. I'm a 36+ waist and about 5-10, and the XL are a perfect fit after 2 washings and even a quick few minutes in the dryer. Great ventilation, great protection, and comfortable on all my long rides so far. Purchased for GS motorcycling, but also using them for daily bicycling too! You will not be disappointed.

OK, but...
I'm OK with this product, but I am a bit concerned that the protection pads have quite a bit of space between them. The spacing actually increases as the pants stretch when you put them on. I also don't think these pants have adequate hip protection. I left the hip pads in my overpants for adequate hip protection - sort of defeats the purpose, don't you think?

Good armor
Very well built, and semi comfortable. The size runs a little bit small, but it does fit well under race leathers.

Really comfortable
I used these several times, mainly under a pair of jeans and they fit perfectly, even on somewhat tight jeans.
The protections don't obstruct the pockets and the rear padding made a difference in comfort while riding my motard on town.
Haven't used them on hot weather, but they seem to flow enough air.

Great riding shorts with protection
Bought these riding shorts to offer some protection under my Klim pants.Short ride so far and they are really comfortable. Easy to forget they are on. Will put them to the test during a two week off road trip in Washington, Oregon and Cali starting 01 Sept. These replace my completely worn out LD riding shorts. I like the idea of the added protection of these shorts. Looked at other more expensive alternatives and tried all of them on at the Revzilla showroom. These fit the best and were the most comfortable.

Klim recommends that you follow the care tag on the garment, which recommends wearing nothing but the shorts and riding your B.A. Adventure Bike through a raging river torrent, then dry them over a huge bon-fire next to your bear steaks.Or, you could machine wash on gentle/cold, and hang dry.

Based on the Klim size chart and the measurement that you provided we would recommend the size SM. If you are expecting your son to grow quickly, the MD may be a better choice since it will allow for some growth. Below you will find the recommendation from the Klim size chart:XS: waist 24-27
