Klim Tactical Shorts
For that extra $40.00 dollars over cheaper segment well worth it
I am 5Ft 7" 79kg with 41inch accross belly button. Thin to Medium boned. Puchased in XL perfect fit. Very comfortable, offer great upgraded protection to the next segment down. Worth upgrading, will not have to upgrade further. These are perfect under a pair of Kevlar reiforced Jeans. I can certainly appreciate the crutch absorbtion padding will be very practicle in hot summer conditions. You just feel more confident with the thigh and hip protection good tail bone protection as well. For my height these pants offer padded protection right down to my knee armour .Great product!

Support and Protection
First off, I'm a bicyclist, so I am used to wearing lycra shorts. These are essentially thick bike shorts with soft padding on the thighs, hips, and a crotch/tailbone pad.
I can imagine that this type of padding would dissipate the energy of a blow to these areas - but do keep in mind this is very soft padding. That being said, I do feel a degree of protection, and I enjoy the support (though not jock strap tight).
Best of all, they are extremely comfortable - I've worn them on all day summer rides beneath my Carharts or Levi's without a hitch. My money was well spent!

not just for motocross
I know these are tagged for motocross and ADV riders, but I use them for long distance touring. They're cool, flow decent air and have added armor. As a bicyclist, I'm used to wearing bike shorts with a chamois, and used to wear bike shorts under my riding pants until I found these. The chamois pad provides a nice bit of comfort. I know that butt/seating comfort is very subjective, but I would try these first before modding the bike with an airhawk or similar seat pad.

Great product but needs a fly!
Went on an 8-hour ride yesterday in 90degree+ heat and the KLM Tac Shorts worked great, except when I had to pull over to take a leak, quite the gyrations to get down to pepe...in rattlesnake country, roadside whizzes need to be quick or one can experience a head bite, or worse, a taint bite (cannot tourniquet a taint)...so, bottom line, a workable fly is a must.

had to replace an older pair of Troy Lee shorts. bought two different shorts to try. these have the better protection. hip motion is great. they do flow a lot of air and dont heat real hot. feel much more protected in these than any other like product. only complaint is when you do wash them the collect every partial of lint and come out looking like a fuzz ball. not a big problem and would not keep me from getting another pair. favorite set of shorts to date.

You won't be disappointed!
I really like my klim tactical shorts. They fit snug, they don't bunch up, and they offer good protection although I wish there was a little more hip padding but there is certainly enough there. I have recommend these to a few buddies & would buy another pair.

I bought these originally to wear with some Klim pants that had no internal armor in the hips. However, these are perhaps one of the best clothing purchases I have ever made. I fully expect they would be very helpful for protection in a fall, but more than that... they have made riding long distances much more comfortable. The triple layer padding in the crouch is great and they wick moisture very well. I love these and wear them any time I plan to be on the bike more than an hour. So I don't tend to wear them for commuting, but if I am out for a serious ride, or on a weekend adventure, you can be guaranteed these are coming with me.

I wanted some hip and thigh protection since most riding pants have little to no protection so I got the Klim Tactical Shorts. The armor is extremely comfortable due to its flexibility and is low profile so the shorts fit under my jeans. I feel that the coverage is adequate if I ever need it.
