Inexpensive insurance against a potential serious injury. In the case of a crash that places your leg near the rear sprocket, the shark guard will help deflect your foot out of harm's way. Other toe guards ask you to drill and tap into your stock swingarm. The average swingarm today is 4-6mm thick aluminum, which can leave you with mounting bolts that can easily strip out. Woodcraft supplies two rivet nut inserts and an installation tool with every kit!

Required by AMA (and others)! Great addition! So in addition to being a conversation starter, "What IS that thing, anyway?" - this shark guard looks awesome and is required by many of the racing organizations you may or may not be thinking of entering into. The installation is simple and the jack nuts that come with the assembly are a MUCH better idea than trying to tap into your swingarm, IMO. I have a '12 ZX6R and the only "issue" with fitment was due to the weld seam under the swingarm - it still fits fine and the functionality wasn't affected at all, but it doesn't fit as "aesthetic" as I'd have liked. All things considered, I'm 100% satisfied and I'll buy more of them for future motorcycles. May 21, 2012
