Not a knee brace or a knee pad
I thought this fit pretty well trying it on at home, but when riding the hinges on the sides dug into my knees in an uncomfortable way and I found it hard to grip the tank. I fell, just a small crash, and the hinges dug in quite hard and bruised my knee a lot. It seems I would've been better off in that situation with a regular knee pad. Who knows what will happen in a big crash if it will work well enough as a knee brace to save my ACL.

They are quite warm with the neoprene type wrap around.

Also they seem a little bit small in the shin/ calf area. The velcro doesn't close all the way around my calf and the shin plate is a bit small. I ordered a small/medium because I am a 5'6'', 125lb girl and couldn't imagine not fitting into a men's small. But I am assuming the small size is made for kids. Though I also believe the next size up would be too big.

Overall, would not buy them again, but am going to rock them for a while despite their flaws.

9 years now... something like that. Still awesome.
I've had these for about 9 years now. Bought them to use offroad on my DRZ400. Well, used them for that for a while, crashed them a bunch of times and don't even want to know what a couple of those dumps would have done to my knees if I wasn't wearing them. These things are absolutely worth it. Now I use them anytime. They're actually comfortable on long rides on my Buell Ulysses. Like others have said, a real sportbike bend in your knee, they're not great. They can get a little warm in the summer down in the Carolina or if you're really working it off-road, but I love these things. Just make sure you're wearing loose pants or jeans or you're not getting them under. I've got the early ones so the velco can get a little scratchy on the back of my shin, (easy fix... taller socks), but awesome.

On the sizing. I put true to size, but you really have to try these things on. If my calves were any bigger, I'd definitely want to go up to a the next size and I'm already wearing the XL at 6'2" and 185lbs. Or, maybe the make the velcro wider... you really just need to try them on.

Not too much else to say. I love these things.

Great product for the price
Got these for weekends street rides. Fit and finish is great, straps holding strong,no movement. During summer rides they cut airflow but nothing dramatic, you'll survive :) The comfort when off the bike is average. There is no doubt that knees will be safe during most of possible impacts. Very good quality.

Great product
They offer great protection and they are comfortable. It gets a little hot on hot days which is a very minor issue since they offer great protection for the amount of money you pay.

Kneepain-away
After three surgeries on my right knee and one on the left, these guards work great to help stabilize my knees.
They took a bit to get use to, but now they fit snug and comfy.
Airflow is okay, it does not get very sweaty under the guards in hot weather.

It is pretty obvious you got them on under any pants, but they are surprisingly comfortable to sit around in and they definitely feel like good protection.

Thor Pads Rock!
I have tried lots of different knee pads and the Thor's are by far the most comfortable, offer significantly better protection and act very similar to the more expensive knee braces.

The pads feel very well made, provide as much protection as you could ask for, and are very comfortable. I don't even realize i'm wearing them while riding.

Thor has apparently made recent improvements
I usually don't write many reviews, but was very happy with the Thor Force kneepads. It's a good compromise between regular shin guards and a full brace. After knee surgery earlier this year, on the bone break vs tear cartilage debate, I ultimately land on the "break bone" choice side...but I hope the ample protection of these puppies will help to put off having to make the decision for a bit.
I was a little concerned about what size to pick for these; I'm below 5' 7" but have pretty big thighs and calves. I ordered L/XL, and they fit me perfectly. By that I mean that they end just above the tops of my Fox Shorty boots. I did not want a shin guard that tucked inside the boot - if you have a full-height MX boot you'll need to do tucking in or reconsidering. As it is, I have a very comfortable and protective system, bends fairly easily while moving on the bike, but it's surprisingly comfortable walking around and hiking as well. The whole rig, including compression shorts, just fits under my Duluth Firehose Loggers. They go on in about the same time to put on typical shinguards.
The main improvement that I think Thor made is on the back of the braces. They added fabric flaps under the back of the calf and the thigh sections, and I haven't noticed any strap chafing at all. As with any product like this, the airflow is a bit restricted and the lack is more noticeable under pants...so while I am normally a full ATTGATT kinda guy, with the addition of the fabric flaps I'm tempted to do some hot day rides sans the Loggers.
Highly recommended product.

The top strap rubs not matter what I do. I had to leave it unstrapped. But otherwise they offer good protection for the price.

As well as trail riding I love playing tennis. You can't do that without good knees. And as someone who has had a few spills on a mountain bike, I know how important knees are as you age. Don't hesitate - get good protection today.

Will these fit comfortably with my Alpine* Tech 7's?
Adam G on Apr 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I wear these under my KLIM Badlands pants. these were cheap and I bought as a "proof of concept." they were protective during my many spills on the Colorado BDR. I would imagine if i spent more (I will next time) the more you spend the more comfort you can expect.
Can I wear the Thor motocross force knee guard under regular jeans? I ride a suzuki gsx r600
A shopper on Jun 12, 2011
BEST ANSWER: I'd say it's even better under pants (not to worry it fits under buggy, not those sissy tight ones mind you). I don't like it when there are things protruding from the side such as screws that might scratch the gas tank though...
Are these supposed to be worn over/under jeans? Are they washable?
A C on Jun 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: so I've recently purchased a pair of these knee guards, and they are intended to go under the riding gear not on the outside. overall I am very satisfied with the protection, however you have to get used to these type of knee guards, the feel is different when gripping the bike and they feel a little bulky. "less feeling when trying to grab the bike", granted I've had the same pair of knee guards for over a decade so it could just be the new style of gear that I am not used too. Overall these are great knee pads. when in doubt get a size bigger, better to have extra material for securing them to your legs than not enough.
I'm 6'4" and weigh 195, should I get the xl?
A shopper on May 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: depends on how large your legs are, i stand at 6'8 and i ordered the larges, they fit perfectly minus the straps that rap around your legs are very tight. I have large thighs so i will have to alter them at a sew shop to get some extra fabric back there. Hope this helps you.
Is the material used on the inside of these knee pads abrasive to skin when they are worn under pants?
Christopher M on Nov 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, the portion that touches the knee is not even noticeable. The Velcro sections can get irritating sometimes behind the knee. Some adjusting fixes it though. I wear socks made for wearing these types of protectors now and now longer have to worry about it.
hello,
would these fit under a pair of draggin jeans? I would ideally like to wear them under coz I fear the bolts would scratch the tank. Any inputs would be appreciated.

Cheers
A shopper on Oct 31, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Really doubtful they would fit under jeans. Maybe dirt bike pants, the jean fabric isn't pliable enough in my opinion. I've worn them over for the most part.
Are these the 2012 variants of the Force Knee guards? I read somewhere that the new ones are redisgned.
A shopper on Jan 14, 2012
BEST ANSWER: These have been out for a few years. At this time Thor has not released any news about a new, redesigned Force knee guard. The only Thor knee guard that is new for 2012 is the Youth Quadrant.
Does this product offer any CE rated shin protection? I'm deciding between this product and the icon striker need guards.
Austin C on Nov 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I used these in conjuction with full size boots, but they go pretty far down your shins
I'm looking for protective gear for my son for short trips with me (like from school to home) and am wondering if the small version will fit him. He's 8 years old and here are his stats:
Height: 50" (4' 2")
Inseam: 22"
?
A shopper on Mar 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think these knee guards would be too big for your son. I am 5'7" and the small size fits me just right. You could look for somthing in the youth section.
Cheers.
Ive been reading a lot of the more expensive braces are sold as individual Left or Right brances. How are these sold and shipped?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Thor Motocross Force Knee Guards are sold in a pair/set.
