I really liked my Shoei Qwest helmet, but it fogged like crazy in cold weather. Every time I stopped at a light, the whole inside would cloud up. I removed the old shield and put this one on its place, with the clear Pinlock insert (separate item). Problem solved. I ride in 35-40F weather with the shield closed and there's no fogging at all. No appreciable darkening of my view either. Amazing -- it does just what it's supposed to do!

I wear a Shoei RF-1100 and my old visor would fog up during the winter rides, almost instantly in the morning or each time i came to a stop. With these pinlock visor system, its pretty easy to install and i can breathe heavily/normally and the visor won't fog one bit!

Although you have to purchase the shield and lens separate, it does not fog up at all. I have the Shoei Quest and that helmet is very quiet but fogs the stock face shield really quick. even at 80 degrees and the breath guard on the helmet it fogged really quickly. I decided to purchase the shield and lens upgrade due to good feedback and I absolutely love it.

I put the pinlock lens system on my Shoei Qwest and it performed exactly as expected to keep my visor fog free when riding in cold and damp conditions.
It was very easy to attach the antifog lens (sold separately) to the face shield and I never had to think about it again. It just worked. At the end of a ride I could wipe moisture away from inside of the visor in the area outside of the pinlock lens but the lens itself always stayed nice and clear even at long traffic lights with the visor in the fully locked position.

This pinlock shield is great and the lens is super easy to install. It literally takes seconds to install and stops fogging. Great product and worth the money. Plus the Shoei shields are easy to swap out if you need to change back to the regular shield.

A great product for my Shoei Helmet. Unfortunately it didn't come with this shield. I used the fog inserts for this shield and already had a clear one. I bought another shield for my smoke color fog insert and highly recommend this shield. No more problems with fogging up the shield while riding when used with the fog inserts bought separately.

Had been wearing the RF-1100 for a while and when the temperature started to drop the lens started to fog up. I did all the research like everyone else and decided to drop a few more bills on this helmet and buy the pinlock shield and lens.
What a difference it made! I even tried to fog it up and couldn’t. I recommend this system to anyone that is having a fog problem.

I currently own the Shoei Quest. The stock face shield fogs up quickly and frequently with all the vents open and the breath guard installed. Does this face shield come with the clear fog free lens or do i need to order the lens separate. I know if i wanted a colored or tinted lens i'd need to order it separately. The reason I ask is because i read somewhere that this shield comes with a clear fog free lens and thats all i need.

Answer:
This will fix your fog problem right away. My Qwest was driving me nuts until I swapped out the visor for the Pinlock one. Yes, you need to order the insert separately, which is unfortunately an extra cost item.1 week, 2 days ago

Nope...it's two separate pieces. The face shield has the pins on it and then you need to buy the fog shield which has notches that slip into the pins. If your shield has the pins already, then you will just need to order the fog shield insert. I had to order both. It's a great system, definitely blocks out the fog and for the weather I ride in (cool & rainy), it has definitely worked. My original face shield use to fog up and I had to ride with it cracked all the time. Now, that's over and I get to keep my face shield closed, the head vents closed with only the face vent open. Hope this helps you decide it's worth the purchase. As for tints, well I think you can buy either in tint, but I'm sure the RevZilla staff can help with that...good luck!Age: 35-44
