A shopper asked:I was wondering why a rider would need to buy new baseplates for their Shoei helmet. I have a Shoei Quest and I think the visor seal is leaking when at speed. I was looking for new visor seals and came across these baseplates. Could the leaking visor be caused by baseplates instead of the seal?Oct 18, 2013
Peter T:If your visor seal is leaking I would first suggest that you try adjusting the baseplates by loosening the two screws that attach it and slide the baseplate around. The baseplate may have shifted over time or have been forced out of place. Their placement affects the visor's seal. I guess one would buy these if it was obvious that a piece of it had broken off. I bought new baseplates when my visor was moving around at speed only to get them and see that they come with directions on how to adjust the baseplates that are already there. If adjusting the baseplates doesn't fix your problem it could be a problem with the rubber seal on your helmet if there is some obvious damage visible. I am no helmet expert so it could be something else but I think adjusting the baseplates could easily solve a sealing problem. Hope this helps.Oct 19, 2013
