REV'IT DAKAR PANTS

I called to get much needed help in ordering the proper size. I seem to always be "in-between" the sizing charts. The sales staff new exactly what I needed....fit perfectly. They are very warm and comfortable, easy movements ie getting on and off the bike without restraining. I will see how they work in warm weather in Arizona later this year

Great buy

I am 5'11 and 185lbs with a 34" waist and 32" inseam. The pants fit perfectly. Not baggy or loose but close to the body. A bit snug with all the liners in but comfortable.

With the price drop it's an incredible deal!

Dakar pants

A little tight for a large - the difference between Med and Large is 1 " - I had hoped for 2 "

Great Pants

Great product! Tighter fitting is a pro/con (pro: doesn't flap around / con: gets tight with rain/warmth layer underneath). Rev'it makes great stuff. Buy it, you will like it.

Nice, but haven't ridden in them yet

I prefer snug fitting riding gear, but a Large just didn't fit my 37' waist. XLarge was near perfect. No hassle exchange. Solid construction, but not too stiff. Great features. Will update review after treating these pants to a "spring/summer/fall" in Juneau AK; should be a real good test, but the snow and ice needs to melt first.

great product, weird sizing

The only drawback I see to Rev'it products in general is the sizing seems very small. Now I'm not a small man, but I'm not a fat either, and normally in t-shirts i wear large or xl depending on the type, and pants somewhere around a 38 waist. In Rev'it products I need XXXL, so keep that in mind when ordering. They are worth EVERY penny, quality, and functionality are great.

Great pants

Great pants, all sizing indications were spot on except on the waist, could fit one size bigger. Trade off between waist and hip size. Went for bigger waist size as the pants can be adjusted on the waist.

Great pants

Great riding pants! I bought these to go along with the old style Cayenne jacket, basically to save a little money over a Rallye 2 suit. The grey color is a little lighter than that of the jacket but not enough to make a difference. The zippers between the pants and old style jacket work fine, so if you like this feature they work, even though the pants and jacket are not the "recommended" combo. The Dakar pants are really well made but understand they are riding pants, not overpants. They fit basically like a good pair of relaxed jeans so I doubt you could get them over anything thicker than a pair of dress pants. Forget trying to get them over a pair of boots, I doubt you could slip them over a pair of slippers. That said, the leg bottoms have plenty of room for even off road boots, you will just have to put them on after the pants. The armor is good, knee and shin are hard armor and the hips are covered by a foam type, with plenty of coverage. The zip in liners are nice, with a great feature being the zippers are color coded to the matching liner, match the zipper color up with that of the liner and you are on the right zipper. The zippers aroung the waist and legs are nice, no liner bunching. I haven't used the pants in rain yet but they are made of the same material as the jacket, as are the liners. The jacket by itself is not waterproof, but with the waterproof liner in you will stay dry. If you use both liners they are bulky, but still useable. I have used the pants in temps from 35-60 degrees and even at 35 was warm with just the rain liner and a pair of long johns. Don't know how the pants will be in warmer weather but my guess is, like most riding pants, they will be a bit warm. The vents at the front of the cargo pockets end up on top of your thighs when riding so it's a guess how well they will work. Sizing is a big deal with all the REV'IT gear I have bought. It's built around some mythical EURO body that may or may not exist and has nothing to do with the average US body type. In general I found they run a size smaller than you would normally wear. My advice is to use the measurements called out in the REV'IT chart and go from there. If in doubt talk to the guys at Revzilla, they were very helpfull. Even with the measurements I was between an XL and XXL and the chart called for a "short" even though I usually wear a "33" inseam in jeans. I ended up going with an XXL/regular and they are perfect. The knee armor is in the correct place while riding and the length is perfect. The knee armor does ride low when walking around, the top of the armor is at the bottom of my knee cap, but the pants and protection are for riding.

Can't really come up with any complaints on these pants. In a perfect world I would like to see a double seat. The pants have a single seat although there is stitching that looks like double. It might also be nice to have a strip of reflective tape along the lower leg zipper. The pants have to stripes on each of the cargo pockets but it would have been easy to add it to the zipper covers. I could also do without the rubber "bumps" on the hand pocket covers. They are covered in little dots much like the palms of cotton work gloves. I have no idea why they are there but they tend to rub on the backs of my hands when I put my hands in the pockets.

top-quality rally gear

Well made. Really sturdy material. Really warm thermal liner. Good reflectivity. Good reinforced tape on zippers and pocket flaps. Great detail. I'm accustomed to side zippers that let me put overpants on with my boots on, but these are not that kind of pants. They're more serious rally/off-road gear, and of the highest quality.

The only real flaw in the Dakar line is the difference in sizing between these and most of the rest of Rev'it's pants. The Mistrals and others are available in numbered sizes; Dakars only in S/M/L/XL. The M fits me about one size large, and the knee pads hang a bit low. I'll have to have that internal armor pocket altered a little. Overall, a really well-made garment.

No remorse buying Dakars

thanks to the sizing expertise of the RevGuys - these pants fit exactly as I described I wanted them to. Undoubtedly the most comfortable, feature ladened, well constructed pants. Would buy again.
