Nolan N43 Trilogy Helmet

Great all-arounder helmet

I've had an XXL for a few months now and enjoy the versatility. This helmet is not a full face, if that is what you want buy a full face or a modular. This helmet does offer additional protection from the removable chin bar but does not act like a good quality full face with sound and air insulation on the chin bar. I do wish the shield had a partial open position as another reviewer mentioned but I wear the helmet without the chin bar often and it isn't that big a deal for me. This helmet came with the Pinlock anti fog system and I say GET this no matter what helmet you end up buying, it is worth every penny. My only real gripe is that I can't tell which position is open on the only vent on top of the helmet, it seems to make no difference in air flow. I generally wear a bandana underneath that certainly decreases flow but even blowing into the vent in the 2 different positions I can't tell. The flip down shade is very nice but it does let a lot of light come in on the bottom (between the shield and your face) which can cause some glare but I use sunglasses normally and only use the shade in a few circumstances and it works well. I would buy one of these helmets again, but I would buy a full face or modular helmet for long distance touring.

N43 Trilogy: Not Quite a Full-Face Helmet

I bought the N43 Trilogy thinking it was equivalent to a full-face helmet. Almost, but not quite. The internal padding around the lower part of the face is about the same as an open face helmet, and much less robust than the full-face Arai my son owns. I don't think the N43 Trilogy would provide as much protection as a "real" full-face helmet in a face-first impact. Also, with the chinbar installed, this helmet is a boom-box, very loud low-frequency rumble at any speed above about 40 mph, with or without my bike's windshield installed. Oddly enough, with the chinbar removed, the helmet is much quieter. Finally, the tinted sunshield is at least an inch too short, much less functional than the sunshield on my HJC helmet. The N43 Trilogy's construction, ft and finish are decent, but I want a full-face helmet with better padding in the lower face area and a sturdier chinbar, so I'll probably sell the Trilogy.

Great helmet for the price

The fit of this helmet is exactly like my size Large Synchrotec, so I had no problem ordering the Large online. Added bonus: it's light.

With the chin bar installed, I can't get the helmet on or off, but I don't consider that a problem since I only use the chin bar for riding around town, which I don't do very often. It's easily installed for riding through cities, however.

If you have an "oversized" chin, you might find the chin bar a tad too "short" for comfort.

I wear earplugs on the open road and I sit behind an FLHT fairing. There still appears to be wind noise, even with the earplugs. It's not a big deal for me, but others could be annoyed.

I like the fastening system used on this helmet. I've hated the D-ring for decades and I wish all the makers would switch to the Nolan fastening system.

The sun visor is my first, and I quite enjoy it.

I'd buy another of these in a New York minute if I needed one.

Noisy on Highway

Not a bad helmet at all until you get on the highway. Road noise is terrible compared to my previous Arai. I bought two of these different sizes and my passenger has same complaint. Can't believe the difference compared to Arai. I'll be selling these and going back to Arai.

Trilogy Helmet Review

Fantastic Helmet. Love the grop down sun visor.. Only wish that the visor could be left open a little bit, has to be either open or closed no inbetween but great helmet for its price.

Nolan N43 Helmet

Helmet fits and looks great. Bought the communications system for the helmet. All is good til about 20-30mph then sound quality is limited due to road noise (wind). Otherwise very pleased with the product.

I was a little nervous about buying a helmet online without trying it first. But I measured my head first and then ordered the appropriate size. Well, the helmet fits great. This is a very nice helmet. It is quite light and relatively quiet. I like that I can turn my head to check for traffic better than I could with other full face helmets. In cold weather it is not as warm as my other full face helmet that has a skirt around the neck. But behind a fairing this helmet is fine even for cold weather. I really like the strap and buckle mechanism. If I had to add one feature it would be a setting to allow the visor to remain partially open. The only positions available are full open or full closed. Overall though I would definitely buy this helmet again. It is suits me better than any other helmet I could find. This was my second Revzilla order. I've been very satisfied with both orders.
