Nelson-Rigg CL-850 Touring Saddle Bags
This product worked out well for what I wanted.
I need a quick and inexpensibe set of bags to travel over the weekend. I dont do long distance rides often so I opted for soft bags rather than hard and expensive set up.
Revzilla delivered super fast and the bags were very easy to install and then remove at night. Lots of room for my riding gear. Simple side loading with sinch straps. You can really pack these bags or half pack and tighten up straps.
For the buck they are great. Not sure about durability since I have had them only two weeks.

Best lightweight saddles out there
Revzilla got me the Nelson bags (CL-850 saddles and CL-1030 as a tail bag) in their typical record time. I also got the with optional strap kit (triple threat TAILPACK TO SADDLEBAG CONNECTING KIT TPKSB-MT-30) straps to hook them together. After trying several mounts, I decided on a mounting a bit more forward than might be typical (allows access to gas!). With the setup, I only used two of of the four optional straps (connecting the front of the tail bag to the rear of the saddle bag. I used the extra two straps (tied together) to connect the lower front of the saddle bags around the seat. Since that left the two short "loop" straps over intended for the regular mounting, I looped those over the grab rails to secure the rear of the tail bag. Now everything comes off just by popping buckles! Very slick.
Four more super advantages to the forward position:
1) the bag sits lightly on the passenger foot pegs, letting bag weight be absorbed there over bumps. Very secure!
2) the bag is VERY clear of the hot exhaust!!!
3) profile from front shows them nearly invisible, meaning very little drag!!
4) weight is more forward, between wheels, for better handling.
One drawback is they do look a little goofy compared to rear mount.
Total install time (including chin-scratching) was about 30 minutes to get a perfect, solid fit that will allow easy snap-on and snap-off. On my first ride I got caught in a gully-washer thunderstorm, and just had time to slip on the rain covers. They went on fast and kept everything dry. Of all the bag set-ups I have purchased over the years (Wolfman, Dirtbagz), this might be the most impressive yet.
Time will tell on durability, but I expect typical N-R quality!

Plenty of Space! XR650L with PMR "Ebay" racks
I bought these bags to carry my climbing gear with me and to take extended road trips. I can't comment on the durability or the rain covers because I've only used them once to carry climbing gear and the weather was nice and dry. They seemed to ride well at 70-75mph. I need one of the straps to be about 1/2" longer for ideal fitment, so I will probably do a bit of custom sewing. Overal, I'm satisfied with the product!

Large capacity, easy on/off - don't carry ice cream
The nelson-Riggs 850s were my first soft bags - I previously had leather bags which lasted a looong time, but eventually had to be retired. The Nelson-Riggs bags are larger, lighter and have rain covers included. They carry a lot of gear and fit easily on my Vstrom 1000, wirthout getting in the way of passenger pegs or rear turn signals. Best, they don't require a separate mounting bracket because the Vstrom mufflers heat shields keeps the heat away from the bags, so other than ice cream, you can carry pretty much anything you want. Can't comment yet on the durability, although the material seems strong. Oh, and they look good, too. They compliment the adv/touring nature of the Vstrom.
For an inexpensive set of soft bags, they're hard to beat.

Nice soft luggage for my 2012 V-Strom. The bags are well made and can hold a lot. Fits my FF Shoei. Side neoprene shields are a nice feature. Use with a Dan Vesel luggage guard on non-exhaust side. As always, shipment from Revzilla was quick.

Great option over hard bags.
I've only had these bags for a few weeks, but I am very pleased with them. The material used seems like top quality. I have been using them to commute to work on my KLR650 and haven't needed to purchase a "soft bag rack" like some of the other vendors say you need. If you are on the fence about soft bags versus a hard bag setup, I recommend you give these a shot. Its 35 liter capacity per bag for under 200 bucks, versus almost a 1000 bucks for hard bags (and usually with less space). Great product.

Great capacity for very reasonable cost.
I wanted to be able to carry stuff on my VFR without spending a grand on luggage. So I got these bags, and they are really well made. I added a modification to make sure the bags never touch the mufflers, and now I can carry a lot of stuff safely. The workmanship is very good, the size quite adequate, and the velcro straps very sturdy, and the small adjustable straps that hold the bottoms of the bags on the bodywork are added security. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the system. Since I just got them I can't say anything about durability, but the impression they give, with materials and workmanship, is that they will be quite durable.

Only good for a couple of seasons
I had a pair of these on my VTX 1300 and they are so faded that I am embarrassed to use them any more. They started fading soon after I got them and went downhill fast. I did not leave them in the sunlight for long periods of time since they are only clipped onto they bike and would be easy to carry off by somebody. They are now a grey/purple color in most places with a darker patch here and there. Nelson Riggs reply when I contacted them about their "Lifetime" warranty - spray paint them with a fabric spray. They are inexpensive bags with tons of room, but don't expect them to be black for long.
