Michelin Pilot Road 2 Rear Tires

  • The ideal balance Independent tests confirm the Pilot Road 2 offers better wet grip and longer tread life than any of its competitors
  • How did Michelin incorporate these two contradictory traits in one tire? MotoGP-derived 2CT technology makes it possible, using two distinct rubber compounds to achieve what was once thought impossible
  • Innovative front and rear tread designs
  • Winner, 2009 Motorrad and Moto Revue sport touring tire tests
  • 180/55 ZR 17 rear also available in a 'B' version, specifically designed for loaded sport touring or riding two-up

Quality worth the price These tires are a top of the line product and are competativly priced. Shipping was very fast. I would definitely buy again. July 6, 2015
very planted nice progressive turn in. Very predictable handling. Slower steering in than the sportmax tires they replaced but very satisfied for everyday riding. August 6, 2015
Tech recommended, rider approved Shop recommended this tire to me yesterday when I asked about replacing baby's old cracked shoes. Service writer said he runs them on his own bike - yeah right, they all say that, except that he then showed me. Sold. I've put about 100 mostly highway miles on them, all dry since, you know, Arizona. Baby feels 100% surefooted at any speed and any lean angle, on the brakes and off. Can't wait to get out and rub them chickenstrips off. May 23, 2015
Good tire, good value. Somewhat difficult to find, though. The tire has been very serviceable and the price was reasonable. July 1, 2015
Execellent Execellent tire, grip the road when warmed up on the hwy and easy to curve the road with to enjoy :) February 19, 2015
Good commuting tire Came from Pilot Powers that only lasted about 4500 miles. These are not quite as sticky but I mainly use my bike for commuting so thats not a big deal. I have put about 2000 miles on them so far and it looks like these will last much longer that the powers. I have only ridden once in the rain since I put these on (live in Las Vegas) and I felt very confident with these tires. January 26, 2015

Great commuter tire! I commute daily on my FZ6 and switching from Dunlop Q3's to these were a MASSIVE upgrade! The traction is obviously down some (I ride my bike VERY spiritedly and it's still plenty of traction), but the tread wear is almost unnoticeable! I've got 3000 miles on them and there are no chicken strips on the tires or uneven wear anywhere. The Q3's I had lasted 3500 miles, that's when the belts began to show, but these tires look like they'll last upwards of 10k miles. Highly recommend for anyone commuting, but still likes to get out there and have some fun! November 17, 2014

V A: Best sport-touring tire, last over 10k miles too Mar 23, 2014
Kevin H: I was considering the PR3 and PR4, but saw a lot of reviews online saying that the PR2 is still a fantastic tire that has been tried and tested for years. A lot of people still stand by it over the PR3/PR4. It is also more affordable and has a better looking thread pattern than the PR3 and PR4. Mar 4, 2014
Dave G: Fantastic medium hard tire, still grips real good on my zx11 and will last a lot longer than soft compound tires Dec 17, 2013
A s: These tires have excellent grip and wear like iron. Love my PR2's. Dec 5, 2013

Mathew B: Because I will not be riding that much in the rain and do not see you point of paying more for the 3s if im not going to use them. also because I ride my bike everyday so I need somthing that can handle my style of riding. Aug 30, 2013
Douglas G: Favorable reviews Aug 26, 2013
James N: Replacing the same tire that is one my bike with around 10K + miles on them. Would have got a few thousand more if not for a puncture. Aug 20, 2013
Christopher C: This will be my 2nd set of Pilot Road 2s on my 2009 R6. My first pair have about 10,000 miles on them and I will probably put another 1-3 miles on them before I put the 2nd set on. Aug 13, 2013
James S: I ride a Speed Triple as my commuter and I ride 60+ miles a day just to and from work. I need a tyre with good longevity yet something that care take a corner or to and still stick (thanks to the dual compound). I ride in Las Vegas so rain isn't too much of an issue which means I didn't feel I needed the Pilot Road 3. Also warming up my tyres isn't too hard to do in Vegas (unless its winter). Overall I'm looking forward to trying these tyres out and fingers crossed they are as good as I hope. Aug 10, 2013
A shopper asked: What's the difference between a 180/55 17 and a 180/55 17B? Which size is correct for my 2013 BMW F800GT? Dec 3, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (1)
mark s: I regret that I can't answer the sizing question. However, I purchased the 190/60/17 for my 2006 Ducati Multistrada 620 and they were perfect on a 1600 mile trip to and from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Could not have been happier with the tires at full lean. I bought both front and rear and recommend doing so. My suggestion is to fit the exact BMW manufacturer spec.
Springs coming...stay safe.
