Michelin Pilot Road 2 Front Tires

  • The ideal balance Independent tests confirm the Pilot Road 2 offers better wet grip and longer tread life than any of its competitors.
  • How did Michelin incorporate these two contradictory traits in one tire? MotoGP-derived 2CT technology makes it possible, using two distinct rubber compounds to achieve what was once thought impossible
  • Innovative front and rear tread designs
  • Winner, 2009 Motorrad and Moto Revue sport touring tire tests

Best tires for the street I discovered these tires a few years back, when got into "Sport touring" riding with my 09 Ninja 650R. They are by far way better than the original OEM Bridgestone 021. The first impression was- the bike stays glued to the road, don't wonder around on a windy day... Than the grip on a twisty road is excellent- don't recall EVER to slip and slide the rear on a sharp turn, what was a common case with the OEMs. The wear is phenomenal too - the rear gets around(-/+ 1000mi) 10k mi, front gets 20k mi. Since than I use these tires on ALL my bikes (I never go to tracks, just street fun) - FJR1300, GSX-R750, Duke II supermoto. They perform outstanding, never had any problems or complains. I will never even try another brand, maybe only the newer versions of the same tire... I have had some Dunlops on a Harley, also Pirellis on my FJR and Magna V65 when bought, they don't even come close to Michelin, don't waste your money! Other tires don't grip so good and have less than half the life/mileage, at the same price. Go figure... Thanks, Michelin, for the excellent tires! February 9, 2014
Great tire Have 6000miles on these tires and still have a lot of tread left. Will continue getting these tires. January 25, 2014
Good handling, long lasting, reasonable cost. Second set of these I've ran on the FJR, can't complain getting 10K miles out of a front tire. December 9, 2013
Great Tire These are my second pair of these tires on my 6th gen VFR800. They were replaced at around 10000 miles due to a construction staple puncture. They probably would have gone another 3-5K. Grip was quite good allowing 1/4inch chicken strips under normal street ride conditions. November 25, 2013
9k miles revies Rode this tires for 9k miles. No race tracks but I do like twisty roads. More aggressive riding about 30% of my miles. Good grip, pleased with them. Just got it replaced with same tire. October 31, 2013
Great Street Tires The pilot road 2s are some of my favorite tires. Anyone who isnt riding track or lives somewhere like the dragon and doesnt have a sport touring tire is fooling themselves into thinking they need the extra grip that they will never use. These tires are good enough to get knee down in entry level track groups, but also provide the traction needed for the street when you factor in rain, sand, dirt, debris, ect. Unlike sport tires these will get you decent milage and also heat up quicker on the street giving you better grip for casual riding. On the track you do have to watch out for the tires getting to slippery if you get them very hot, but on the street these are the perfect tire. September 9, 2013
Awesome all around tire These were a huge upgrade from the factory tires on my SV650. The first week I had the tires I got caught out in a nasty thunderstorm. With the road covered with water I still felt comfortable maintaining highway speeds even though the cars around me were slowing down. I am not the most experience rider but the grip in all conditions have significantly increased my riding confidence. Currently I also have a 60mile commute of mostly highway and the tire seems like it will last a lot longer than my old one. August 19, 2013
Great Product, Great Price!! So far so good! Just put these on my 2012 Triumph Thruxton about a week ago. I must say it is a HUGE improvement from the OEM tires that came on the bike. They look great on the bike and I can really feel the difference. I never knew how much the OEM tires would push back on the front end of my bike until now. These just roll in and out of corners with ease even with a slightly wider option on front and rear, 110/80 on the front and a 150/70 on the rear. Can't really rate tread life of these just yet but from other reviews I am hoping to get 12K+ out of them with good maintenance. And as far as wet traction, living in SOCAL im not sure i'll be able to rate in there but thats why i chose the pilots 2 over the 3's. Saved a little $$ since I didn't need to rely too much on the improved wet grip since it only rains a handful of days a year here. Thanks so much to John at revzilla for helping me thru my tire buy and breaking down how easy the Michelin tire system is pros/cons/improvements with each tire family. July 29, 2013

Thomas C: Its the OEM tire for the R1200RT Apr 16, 2014
Philip S: I want a radial front tire to go with the Anakee radial rear tire I bought for an old BMW K100RS. From experience I prefer the PR2 to the PR3 for steering feel and agility. The PR3 slows the steering down more than I like. Apr 11, 2014
V A: Best sport-touring tire for various bikes. I use it on all of my bikes- Ninja 650R, Yamaha FJR1300, V-Strom 650, DukeII, etc... Lasts around 20k miles, grips amazingly. Mar 23, 2014
Kevin H: I was considering the PR3 and PR4, but saw a lot of reviews online saying that the PR2 is still a fantastic tire that has been tried and tested for years. A lot of people still stand by it over the PR3/PR4. It is also more affordable than the PR3 and PR4. Mar 4, 2014
Norman B: I already had one. Got almost 14,000 miles it. Jan 7, 2014
A s: Needed new tires and heard they were good ones. Dec 19, 2013
A s: These tires have excellent grip and wear like iron. Love my PR2's. Dec 5, 2013
Roger S: Good tire for a reasonable price. Over 10K on the front of the FJR and still has some life but the bike is sensitive to front tires and the handling has dropped off. Nov 19, 2013
David B: high mileage tire with great wet weather traction.3000 miles on them still look brand new.2010 vfr 1200 Nov 15, 2013
Eddie L: Best $ on the internet, and BMW K1600 GT fitment, great service! Sep 22, 2013
Mathew B: "Because I will not be riding that much in the rain and do not see you point of paying more for the 3s if im not going to use them. also because I ride my bike everyday so I need somthing that can handle my style of riding. " Aug 30, 2013
Douglas G: Favorable reviews Aug 26, 2013
James N: Replacing the same tire that is one my bike with around 10K + miles on them. Rear tire got punctured. The front is still very servicable at this milage but decided to replace as a set. Aug 20, 2013
Christopher C: This will be my 2nd set of Pilot Road 2s on my 2009 R6. My first pair have about 10,000 miles on them and I will probably put another 1-3 miles on them before I put the 2nd set on. Aug 13, 2013
James S: I ride a Speed Triple as my commuter and I ride 60+ miles a day just to and from work. I need a tyre with good longevity yet something that care take a corner or to and still stick (thanks to the dual compound). I ride in Las Vegas so rain isn't too much of an issue which means I didn't feel I needed the Pilot Road 3. Also warming up my tyres isn't too hard to do in Vegas (unless its winter). Overall I'm looking forward to trying these tyres out and fingers crossed they are as good as I hope. Aug 10, 2013
Kenneth S: I get good wear out of the tire about 10,000 miles. Aug 9, 2013
