Excellent tire for commuting
This is the third Metzeler Tourance rear tire I've had on my G650GS I've gotten 15k to 16k miles on the two previous tires commuting 100 miles per day year around on the Olympic Peninsula.

outstanding service
Having had this tire previously, I knew I'd like it. However, this was my first order with Revzilla, and I am sold! Their site is excellent, product mix is great, and their product review videos are actually worthwhile! Thank you.

Should have never strayed away.
These tires came on my Triumph explorer and I put 12K on em, they were at about 25% tread when I switched to the Metzeler Karoo 3's. For the amount of freeway driving I do the 3's were too loud, I should have never gone with such an agressive tire. These tires have served me well in the past, I ran over a bolt a week into ownership and had the dealership patch the tire, I put 11,000 more miles on that tire. I'll never stray again. Loyal Metzeler customer here.

Great panic stop performance
Great performance and traction on everyday roads and incredible during massive downpours.

And, not too long ago I had to do a perform a panic stop while turning on a raining day because the car in front of me crashed and I was just overwhelmed about how fast my bike stopped with out giving signs of wanting to skid.

You can't get better examples of great performance and traction. Really great tires!

Metzler Tourance
Changing out to another set of Metzler Tourance. Got 14,500 miles this time on my Suzuki DL650 V-Strom. Front tire still looks good, with no cupping, rear still has tread with no wear bars showing, but quite flattened out. Still very useable, just want fresh set of tires for this year's riding season. Tourance is a great 80/20 tire.

dependable and consistent
I've had some issues with these cupping when I get to the last 2K miles of tread wear, but up until that point I've found them to the the most versitle, durable, sticky, and weather-right tire on the market for dual sports. I replaced a set of Avon Gripsters with 1K miles with these as the Gripsters were mega-loud when rolling. I'll admit slightly more confidence on dirt with them, but neither is a knobbie so it's a wash in either case. I've yet to be disappointed with the Metzler line whereas Dunlop, Avon, Chen Shien (sp?), and Bridgestone have dealt me hits and misses. Hope this helps.

Revzilla to the Rescue with a Great Set of Tires
This summer just before leaving on my 2013 Yamaha Super Tenere for a 9300+ mile solo bike trip, I checked in with the cycle shop where I intended to get service on my bike and learned they did not stock the tires I wanted. Not wanting to take a risk, I called Revzilla and ordered front and rear Metzeler Tourance tires to be sent to a friend in Nevada. Three days into my trip, my friend calls - the tires arrived. One week, 14 states, and six national parks later I pull into the cycle shop in NV; 15 mins later my friend delivers the tires to the shop and I put my gear in his car. The next day the cycle shop finishes the service, mounts the tires and I'm off for the great Southwest. On the remainder of the trip, I road fully loaded with my gear through hail and rain, and gravel roads and dirt trails in NV, UT, & CO on my trip back home to TN with no tire or grip issues. I've put 5000 miles on the Metzeler Tourance tires and they look nearly new...I should get close to 10,000 miles. Just road the Dragon near my home in TN...still great grip and ready to go find more on-off road riding. Thanks Revzilla for responding so fast and the Metzeler Tourance tires are great.

Great mileage, good overall
I got over 9K miles out of the rear and 10K from the front. about 90% was on-road. Good traction on-road, dry and wet; off-road good for dry dirt roads but any mud or grass and it's like riding a pure road tire, sand also blows. I would rate the grip higher if the tire was softer but that would decrease mileage.

Decent street tires while still somewhat safe for light offroad
I have run a couple sets of Tourances on the GS. I'm pretty pleased so far good grip on the street and not bad for "light" offraod. Not TKC 80's off road by anymeans. I get just over 10K out of them depends on when the inspection falls whether I run them all the way down or not.

Great 90/10 Tire Highly Recommended!!!!!!!
First a little history. I purchased a set of Tourance for my 09 GSA back in February 2014 replacing my Tourance EXP's that were completely worn out. I was looking for a tire that was more aggressive than the EXP but one that was still well suited for long distance touring.
So, since I don't do any SuperCross style riding on my GSA, the Tourance tires are perfect. I ride at least 5 days a week in all weather conditions fairly aggressively.
On the way back from St.Louis, MO in 2014, I took a detour at knoxville, KY and road the Dragon (uP and down) with my bike loaded for bear. The Tourance tires handled the hair-pins with ease. There was never a time where I question the tires in any of the 318 curves. (lots of throttle and bunch of heavy braking)

I just finished up a 2 week trip to Pampano Beach, FL in mid August '15 and my rear tire is finally finished. They held up well for about 12K with my riding style. For a rider that rides less aggressive I would expect to see this tire last at least another 5k. With my new set of Tourance I am going to add Dyna Beads and see if increase the tread life a little. I will keep you posted.

Had these come on my used 04 V-Strom a few years back and have been nothing but pleased with them. I spent 90+% of my time on road and have had no issues in all weather conditions which, in St. Louis, is bipolar with it's weather.

My most recent pair of these made it just over 7k miles before I felt I needed to change out the back tire, only changing the front because it's been patched a couple of times but the tread could easily make it another thousand or so miles.

Matthew B on Apr 24, 2014
No particular reason other then I needed to replace the rear tire. This tire served me well and got about 13000 miles on it before it was replaced with the Michelin Anakee 2 which also gave me 13000 miles. This seems to be the average for the DL650 and the way I ride
DOUGLAS P on Apr 13, 2014
Love these tires. These are all I have used on my BMW R1200GSA. Excellent traction on both dry and wet roads, even
on cold pavement ( 0 degrees ). Usually get at least 10K miles from the rear tire and that includes 3 - 5K riding
2-up and/or fully loaded. Only limitations I have found is mud, snow, sand and large gravel, which is to be expected with
a 10/90 tire.
Daniel W on Apr 10, 2014

Edmund C on Mar 19, 2014
Metzlers are known for the hard rubber compound which allows the tire to go many miles. I bought this one for the longevity of the tire. The hard compound also saved me from popping the tire a bunch of times on hard-pack dirt roads. All in all, it was a good tire but I recommend this more for frequent highway use only.

This is a great tire for my klr 650 really opened it up on the twisties, but it's expensive, I almost wish i would have put some shinko 705's on instead for the money but instead i just put a 705 on the front. I am very impressed with this tire though, if you want to fork the money over for this tire go for it!

Hello - I have a 2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 Adventure bike. I ride about 85% street, 15% light dirt - fire roads, etc. I am looking at your Metzeler Tourance tires - I saw your product review video (great, by the way), and was wondering what you folks recommend... should I get the standard Tourance or the Exp version? I currently have Bridgestone Trailwings and LOVE them. Thanks!
A shopper on Feb 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have a 2012 V-Strom 650 and am running the Tourance front and rear. I am riding 99% street (commute every day) and ride the V-Strom only when my wife or friends need to ride my dirt bike. The tire gives great traction on the rocky, dusty, silty, and gravely roads we have in California. Because we are in a severe drought, I have no experience with them in mud but I avoid sand like the plague. Not sure if it is the tires or the weight of the bike but the bike has no response in deep sand, it doesn't like to go, stop or turn. This is a good tire for occasional off roading with long lasting rubber.
Long story short I got stuck with this tire on my cbr250 on a road trip. How well does this tire perform with semi aggressive street riding, should I seriously consider replacing it now that I'm home with a street/sport touring tire?
Parker M on Jun 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I just bought my second set for my 500+ pound Yamaha Super Tenere. I do a a good deal of what you call semi-aggressive road riding in the mountains of East TN, Northern GA and Western NC and it has very good grip. I do very little interstate riding, mostly 2-lane with some dirt road and trail riding. I'll likely get over 9000 miles on this set before I mount the new set. I'd let your set wear out and then go with what best suits your riding style. I bought this 80/20 tire because I was on a trip out west and spent 2-1/2 days in Utah parks. I liked it for road and off-road so much I bought the second set.
Trying to compare the torrance to the TKC 70 for suzuki v-strom, wanting a balance for on and light off road riding?
A shopper on Apr 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: i have metzeler tourance on my bmw f650gs for a number of years now. they have been reliable/excellent for LIGHT offroading...fireroads. i have laid down bike when it was serious offroading on mountain climb w/ rutted + deep sandy stretches. tkc's knobbies would be more appropriate . i will be putting on knobbies since the balance of my riding has shifted to more off than on road. good luck.

I had this tire on my used bmw GSA but it was towards the end of its life and only did a few miles on it before I replaced it with the metzler eo7 which I like, but with any 50/50 has its pros and cons.
What have been your experience with this tire fully loaded and 2up in the rain? I'm not a peg scraper but need confidence in the rain. Wife and I are taking a few 5k trips next year with very little off road.
Thanks for any feedback.
