Metzeler Tourance Rear Tire
Good Grip, 10k Miles, Noisy
I've put just under 11k miles on a pair of these tires and they're pretty good overall. My only complaint is that they flattened out in the middle after about 9,000 miles. Ride/Riding Style: 2008 BMW R1200GS, generally loaded w/ luggage (~50-60lbs), occasional 2-up riding, and lots of gentle curves/interstate riding. The tires are noisy in straight lines but quiet down on turns (tire shoulders). Compared to Michelin PR4 Trails, these are noisy!

Great 90/10 Tire Highly Recommended!!!!!!!
First a little history. I purchased a set of Tourance for my 09 GSA back in February 2014 replacing my Tourance EXP's that were completely worn out. I was looking for a tire that was more aggressive than the EXP but one that was still well suited for long distance touring.
So, since I don't do any SuperCross style riding on my GSA, the Tourance tires are perfect. I ride at least 5 days a week in all weather conditions fairly aggressively.
On the way back from St.Louis, MO in 2014, I took a detour at knoxville, KY and road the Dragon (uP and down) with my bike loaded for bear. The Tourance tires handled the hair-pins with ease. There was never a time where I question the tires in any of the 318 curves. (lots of throttle and bunch of heavy braking)
I just finished up a 2 week trip to Pampano Beach, FL in mid August '15 and my rear tire is finally finished. They held up well for about 12K with my riding style. For a rider that rides less aggressive I would expect to see this tire last at least another 5k. With my new set of Tourance I am going to add Dyna Beads and see if increase the tread life a little. I will keep you posted.

Know your roads
Riding a BMW GS with this tire, but went down on tricky gravel washouts on steep narrow road. Great tire on mild gravel, but need more bite on the sides for technical back road riding. Quiet tire on pavement, confident. Bought another tire, 50/50.

perfect 90/10 tire
Just got my first set of Tourances, tires were amazing on the street. just got back from tail of the dragon and was pushing them super hard with no problems. they held great dragging the kick stand. took them down some gravel roads and they were fair. packed dirt they are very good, but anymore then that for any extended time and ill be back on TKC's. so if you're looking for a 90/10 tire great, but if you're doing more dirt or and mud, sand, or deeper gravel these are going to have you taking it a little slower.

Generally good, but not perfectly predictable
I took these tires on an ~1,000 mile trip through Susquehannock in PA and then down through Monongahela and George Washington Forests in WV/VA. I literally took them right from aired-down ripping through fire roads and double-track to scraping pegs on the back roads with my Super Tenere. In both of those, they were great. They were even good when the road was wet and patchy wet. They're good on the highway, and while I would never suggest that these tires should be pushed to high speed, there was some unregulated road where these may or may not have hit triple digits for a spell, and did fine.
In the earlier part of the trip, there were some logging roads that were hard pack with a bit of silty dirt on top. After it rained, they turned to mud, and these tires were absolutely, unbelievably, bad. There isn't really a good tire for that surface, but these felt like I accidentally left sportbike tires on. It was about 45 minutes of 15 mph with both stabilizers deployed, and no idea whether I was going to stay upright. I cursed these tires so often and so loud that the loggers probably have an opinion of Tourance rubber.
Avoiding mud like that is one option, but a: I don't decide the road surfaces and b: this caused me to lose confidence in the tires. I've gone through a corner, seen something that looked potentially muddy, and hit the brakes to stand the bike up because I really don't trust them in any kind of mud. I'm concerned that this will carry over into the winter with slush being a problem, and if I remember, I'll come back and update then.
Overall, these are great tires if you're doing long stretches of pavement broken up by some fire roads or double-track that you want to be a bit quicker and more confident through. The mud is why I gave these 4 stars, but if you're planning on mostly riding when it's dry or you don't encounter much mud then these could be perfect for you.

Great Touring / Adv Tire
Replaced my old rear Metzler Tourance with another. Got 12k+ miles from the last one, which I think is fantastic. This tire rides brilliantly on the road and has enough grit to tackle some easier off-road, like hard packed dirt and gravel, no problem. It's not cheap, but you get a lot of tire for your money. Oh, and it's REALLY stiff - bent my tire irons trying to mount it, had to take it to a shop to finish the job with pro-level tools, but I am a novice and you may fare better. Overall though, a great tire.

Excellent tire for commuting
This is the third Metzeler Tourance rear tire I've had on my G650GS I've gotten 15k to 16k miles on the two previous tires commuting 100 miles per day year around on the Olympic Peninsula.

Based on my usage, this tire has performed very well. I ride a GS1200 ADV and this I'm running my third Tourance. I've had this bike in every terrain and there isn't anything that I could complain about. Grips well, rides great.
