Great 90/10 Tire Highly Recommended!!!!!!! First a little history. I purchased a set of Tourance for my 09 GSA back in February 2014 replacing my Tourance EXP's that were completely worn out. I was looking for a tire that was more aggressive than the EXP but one that was still well suited for long distance touring. So, since I don't do any SuperCross style riding on my GSA, the Tourance tires are perfect. I ride at least 5 days a week in all weather conditions fairly aggressively. On the way back from St.Louis, MO in 2014, I took a detour at knoxville, KY and road the Dragon (uP and down) with my bike loaded for bear. The Tourance tires handled the hair-pins with ease. There was never a time where I question the tires in any of the 318 curves. (lots of throttle and bunch of heavy braking) I just finished up a 2 week trip to Pampano Beach, FL in mid August '15 and my rear tire is finally finished. They held up well for about 12K with my riding style. For a rider that rides less aggressive I would expect to see this tire last at least another 5k. With my new set of Tourance I am going to add Dyna Beads and see if increase the tread life a little. I will keep you posted. L September 13, 2015
Know your roads Riding a BMW GS with this tire, but went down on tricky gravel washouts on steep narrow road. Great tire on mild gravel, but need more bite on the sides for technical back road riding. Quiet tire on pavement, confident. Bought another tire, 50/50. September 2, 2015
perfect 90/10 tire Just got my first set of Tourances, tires were amazing on the street. just got back from tail of the dragon and was pushing them super hard with no problems. they held great dragging the kick stand. took them down some gravel roads and they were fair. packed dirt they are very good, but anymore then that for any extended time and ill be back on TKC's. so if you're looking for a 90/10 tire great, but if you're doing more dirt or and mud, sand, or deeper gravel these are going to have you taking it a little slower. Generally good, but not perfectly predictable I took these tires on an ~1,000 mile trip through Susquehannock in PA and then down through Monongahela and George Washington Forests in WV/VA. I literally took them right from aired-down ripping through fire roads and double-track to scraping pegs on the back roads with my Super Tenere. In both of those, they were great. They were even good when the road was wet and patchy wet. They're good on the highway, and while I would never suggest that these tires should be pushed to high speed, there was some unregulated road where these may or may not have hit triple digits for a spell, and did fine. In the earlier part of the trip, there were some logging roads that were hard pack with a bit of silty dirt on top. After it rained, they turned to mud, and these tires were absolutely, unbelievably, bad. There isn't really a good tire for that surface, but these felt like I accidentally left sportbike tires on. It was about 45 minutes of 15 mph with both stabilizers deployed, and no idea whether I was going to stay upright. I cursed these tires so often and so loud that the loggers probably have an opinion of Tourance rubber. Avoiding mud like that is one option, but a: I don't decide the road surfaces and b: this caused me to lose confidence in the tires. I've gone through a corner, seen something that looked potentially muddy, and hit the brakes to stand the bike up because I really don't trust them in any kind of mud. I'm concerned that this will carry over into the winter with slush being a problem, and if I remember, I'll come back and update then. Overall, these are great tires if you're doing long stretches of pavement broken up by some fire roads or double-track that you want to be a bit quicker and more confident through. The mud is why I gave these 4 stars, but if you're planning on mostly riding when it's dry or you don't encounter much mud then these could be perfect for you. July 13, 2015
Great Touring / Adv Tire Replaced my old rear Metzler Tourance with another. Got 12k+ miles from the last one, which I think is fantastic. This tire rides brilliantly on the road and has enough grit to tackle some easier off-road, like hard packed dirt and gravel, no problem. It's not cheap, but you get a lot of tire for your money. Oh, and it's REALLY stiff - bent my tire irons trying to mount it, had to take it to a shop to finish the job with pro-level tools, but I am a novice and you may fare better. Overall though, a great tire. July 6, 2015
Excellent tire for commuting This is the third Metzeler Tourance rear tire I've had on my G650GS I've gotten 15k to 16k miles on the two previous tires commuting 100 miles per day year around on the Olympic Peninsula. April 11, 2015
Great Tire Based on my usage, this tire has performed very well. I ride a GS1200 ADV and this I'm running my third Tourance. I've had this bike in every terrain and there isn't anything that I could complain about. Grips well, rides great. March 2, 2015
Staying with the Metzelers I purchased a new to me 1200GS in August and the Tourance tires had about one third tread on them at the time. I ran them about thirty-five hundred miles and completely ran the rear bald. Looked at the Michelins and Metzelers, and decided to stay with the Tourances as they gave me a smooth ride, excellent traction, and tire longevity that I haven't seen out of the Michelins. Ordered a complete set so I can start on this bike with zero time tires to get a real feel for tire life. December 24, 2014

BILL I: Great tire on or off road (fire roads). Getting about 8k on my R1200GS Beemer. I've used these tires exclusively and have never let me down, just a great all around good wearing tire. Highly recommend. I use the matching front and get about 10k. Jul 14, 2015

Dblankenship81 .: Had these come on my used 04 V-Strom a few years back and have been nothing but pleased with them. I spent 90+% of my time on road and have had no issues in all weather conditions which, in St. Louis, is bipolar with it's weather.

My most recent pair of these made it just over 7k miles before I felt I needed to change out the back tire, only changing the front because it's been patched a couple of times but the tread could easily make it another thousand or so miles.

DOUGLAS P: No particular reason other then I needed to replace the rear tire. This tire served me well and got about 13000 miles on it before it was replaced with the Michelin Anakee 2 which also gave me 13000 miles. This seems to be the average for the DL650 and the way I ride Apr 13, 2014
Daniel W: Love these tires. These are all I have used on my BMW R1200GSA. Excellent traction on both dry and wet roads, even
on cold pavement ( 0 degrees ). Usually get at least 10K miles from the rear tire and that includes 3 - 5K riding
2-up and/or fully loaded. Only limitations I have found is mud, snow, sand and large gravel, which is to be expected with
a 10/90 tire.
Apr 10, 2014
Robert D: Great mileage. I will spoon these on for longer road trips that don't include any off road riding. Apr 7, 2014
Edmund C: Have used this tire for years on my DL650 V-strom, Like the handling and mileage I get from this tire Mar 19, 2014
S S: Metzlers are known for the hard rubber compound which allows the tire to go many miles. I bought this one for the longevity of the tire. The hard compound also saved me from popping the tire a bunch of times on hard-pack dirt roads. All in all, it was a good tire but I recommend this more for frequent highway use only. Jan 26, 2014
Stephen J: The best tire in terms of handling, quiet operation, all weather traction and tread life for my Triumph Tiger Jan 18, 2014
JUAN B: because i use in my bmw r1200 gs adventure Jan 13, 2014
John B: standard stuff for the GS - I dont do much off road work but they last OK on the road too Dec 9, 2013
Stephen R. J: Long wearing. Reliable. Oct 29, 2013
Dale I: I chose this because of my riding style and rating that these tires have recieved. Oct 17, 2013
V B: This is a great tire for my klr 650 really opened it up on the twisties, but it's expensive, I almost wish i would have put some shinko 705's on instead for the money but instead i just put a 705 on the front. I am very impressed with this tire though, if you want to fork the money over for this tire go for it! Sep 23, 2013
John R: Reputation and reviews. Also looking to try something different than what I've been using. Sep 9, 2013
VICTOR M: Always used this tire on my R1200 GS for the last 135,000 miles Aug 19, 2013
A shopper asked: Hello - I have a 2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650 Adventure bike. I ride about 85% street, 15% light dirt - fire roads, etc. I am looking at your Metzeler Tourance tires - I saw your product review video (great, by the way), and was wondering what you folks recommend... should I get the standard Tourance or the Exp version? I currently have Bridgestone Trailwings and LOVE them. Thanks! Feb 27, 2015

James A: I have a 2012 V-Strom 650 and am running the Tourance front and rear. I am riding 99% street (commute every day) and ride the V-Strom only when my wife or friends need to ride my dirt bike. The tire gives great traction on the rocky, dusty, silty, and gravely roads we have in California. Because we are in a severe drought, I have no experience with them in mud but I avoid sand like the plague. Not sure if it is the tires or the weight of the bike but the bike has no response in deep sand, it doesn't like to go, stop or turn. This is a good tire for occasional off roading with long lasting rubber. Feb 27, 2015

Gary N. B: I love Metzler tires, I got a set of Exp tires stock on my 010 BMW R1200 GSA, good tires, I've used the standard Tourance tires on other BMWs, to replace the orig. tires I went with the origional Tourance and was very happy with the choice.
Metzler said the Exp version would give better road grip and wear, unlike Metz. They were wrong this time the originals are a hard tire to beat, they were supposed to be fazed out, as you can see people still love them for a great D/S tire.

Marc B: I have not tried the EXP, but have used the standard tourance on a VStrom, R110GS, and now my Super Tenere over the years. Great tire for your situation (85/15). Exactly what I used it for. I've heard some mixed reviews on the EXP. With the standard tourance, I usually got 13K to 15K out of a rear. Feb 27, 2015

Terri R: I ride a 2007 BMW R1200 GS Adventure. I'm running the standard Tourance tires and have almost 10,000 miles on them. They are nearing replacement; however, these tires have performed well beyond my expectations. I'll be buying a couple more Tourances later this Spring! Mar 3, 2015

Curvin B asked: I had this tire on my used bmw GSA but it was towards the end of its life and only did a few miles on it before I replaced it with the metzler eo7 which I like, but with any 50/50 has its pros and cons.
What have been your experience with this tire fully loaded and 2up in the rain? I'm not a peg scraper but need confidence in the rain. Wife and I are taking a few 5k trips next year with very little off road.
Thanks for any feedback.
