Metzeler ME880 Marathon Front Tire 4.7 5 41 41
Best Tire out there. Bought this to replace the first Metzeler 880 front tire I ever bought. 9 years, 21,000 miles on the front of my 2000 Magna and I only replaced it because it was starting to faintly weather crack in the tread grooves. Still had quite a bit of tread left. Not a cheap tire, by any means, but after a brief attempt to save money on the rear, I went right back to Metzeler. Simply the best tires I've ever had on a cruiser. May 13, 2013
So far the product seems like a winner Price is on the high side but if the tread life is good it will be worth it. The grip is real good on the roads I ride, both asphalt and gravel. I've only put about 500 miles on it so far and haven't ridden in the rain so can't comment on Tread Life or Wet Traction. My bike (1998 Honda Shadow VT600) handles and rides better than my old tires. Over all I think I will be pleased with this tire. May 6, 2013
Great riding tire Recently installed but have out some good miles on it. Great handling tire, holds the road well and ok on the damp roads. Not sure on tread life yet, too soon to tell April 22, 2013
Would not run anything else I have run the Metzler tires for 25 yrs and there is nothing that compares, I have these tires on both my 2003 Indian Spirit and 2012 Chief, I get about 7k out a rear and 14k out of front, I change my front with every other rear change, tire troubles are easy to avoid, these tires need a little care, check air often, they LOVE WET ROADS and take turn with confidence, my Chief road weight is 890, I would not buy any thing else, I go through 2-3 rear tires a year, run the BEST and be happy May 20, 2013
Came highly recommended from other riders I am always looking for a good buy. And was told by several of riders this tire will last longer and not cup like other brands April 23, 2013
Recommend this tire for large and heavy bikes I have used these tires on my Goldwing for some time and now just purchased a set for my new cruiser m109r and looking forward to putting them on the road. February 19, 2013
great tire for the money. The me 880 are a good tire. Ive had a few sets of them. Good tire for the cost. January 12, 2013
Great Tire! I put this on my daily ridden Dyna and immediately noticed a difference. I've heard from others that the tread wears quickly (6k-8k) but the way it grips the road is worth it. This tire is a great upgrade over the stock Dunlop's. I haven't ridden in the rain yet so I cannot comment on the "Wet Traction". Revzilla ships very fast too so I had it in no time. My Wife's 2012 Victory Vegas currently has a Dunlop Bias-ply D417, 180-55B-18 on the rear and a Dunlop Bias-ply Elite-3, 90-90-21 on the front. I would like to swap them out to the Metzeler 880's. Metzeler makes a 180/55ZR-18 for the rear and a 90/90H-21 for the front. 1) Are the above Metzelers OK for fitment on her 2012 Victory Vegas? 2) Can you tell me if both of these Metzelers are Radials and if they would create any issues to her Bike such as going from a Bias-ply to a Radial tire? 3) How does the Bike handle when you go from Bias-ply to a Radial on a Bike? 4) I appreciate that you don't want to mix tire make-ups on a Bike (example, front = Bias-ply, rear = Radial)... but what happens if you go from both of them being Bias-ply... to both being Radials? Lots of questions... Thanks.

Answer:
bikerdeano, did you go with the Metzelers, I have the same issue, ordered the tires for my 2008 Vegas, and discovered the front is actually bias. I think this is Ok, for radial on rear, bias in front, this is what Jackpot has stock. What concerns me is Kingpin, which uses the same rear as Vegas, owners report issues with high speed wobble with the Metz on the rear. I think it's a mounting issue. interested in finding out how it worked out for you.

Answer:
I can answer some of your questions. I also went from bias to radial some years ago and I like the difference, if you look up on the net under bias ply versus radial you will see a link from Michelin that will describe the differences better than I can. The Metzeler 880 are great tires for you machine and if you follow the size on your rims now and use the same size they will fit, some have gone larger but not sure where the limit is. Handling will be better with radial tires. Hope this helps.

Answer:
The "80" is the tire's aspect ratio. This is the ratio of sidewall height to width of the tire. To calculate the aspect ratio of a tire, divide the sidewall height with the tire's width. The larger the aspect ratio number the higher the profile of the tire. For example, a 90% aspect ratio is a higher profile than an 85% aspect ratio.

The "H" in 80H refers to the speed rating of the tire. An H rated tire is for speeds up to 130 miles per hour.

On our product pages, tires are priced by size. This is done to help simplify our product offerings. Typically, the larger the tire the more expensive it is going to be.

Answer:
The sizing of the tires are all the same. NWS is the designation for the Narrow White Stripe (thin stripped white walls) and WWW is the designation for the Wide White Walls (thick stripped white walls). All other without any designation are going to be regular black wall tires.

Answer:
The Metzeler ME880 Marathon Front Tire in size "120/70ZR19 60W-1" is the OEM replacement for the Harley V-Rod and the size "120/70ZR19 60W-2" is the OEM replacement for the Trimuph Thunderbird. Both tire sizes are Z rated and have the same 60W weight rating.

Answer:
No, there is no difference. The "OE" designation denotes that this tire is an Original Equipment tire, i.e. the same tire that certain bikes were equipped with from the factory.

For example, the 120/70-21 size was the original equipment tire for the 2008 Yamaha XV1900 Star Raider.
