Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Chain Disc Lock
Fattest baddest chain ever
I love this chain and lock. I ordered it to go with a stockton chain and lock I had bought at a local shop immediately following the attempted theft of my brand new ninja 300. I loop this chain around a telephone pole, lock it, and then loop the stockton chain through the new york lock and weave it around the back wheel, locking it in place with another kryptonite lock. Just the look of the lock and chain would make almost any thief seek out an easier to steal bike. This is definitely one of the priciest chain and lock sets, but I think it's money well spent. I spent a fraction of this on a stockton chain and lock set--the chain seems fine, although not nearly as beefy as the kryptonite chain, but the lock it came with was a total piece. I used it maybe twice before replacing it with an additional kryptonite u-lock. Highly recommended both as a great deterrent and real security for your motorcycle.

Peace of mind
I don't live in a dodgy neighborhood, but as Bonneville's are very...desirable...where I live I thought I should take some extra precautions when it comes to bike security.
I park my Triumph in my backyard on a slightly raised concrete platform - unfortunately, I don't have any anchor points or solid objects I can attach locks to. I thought a chain would be a step in the right direction as I could at least loop it through the area between the filter and the engine.
I chose the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Lock for three reasons:
1) Solid reputation when it comes to security, plus backup warranty
2) Good price
3) Ability to use the disc lock separately
Whilst no lock is foolproof, Kryptonite have a very good reputation and when I received the lock with 5" chain I was very impressed. It's noticeably heavy, and the links are brutally big, akin to something The Rock was trying to pull in Hercules. It's definitely a chain you'd need to take a grinder to. The disc look is pretty compact and slides easily through the front wheel. I agree though with the rest of the reviewers that the chain could have been another foot longer and the protective sleeve extended to cover all the links.
Like a lot of reviewers have mentioned, unless you sleep and work on your bike, if someone wants it bad enough, they'll nick it. However the lock feels very secure and the links provide a great visual deterrent to anyone up for mischief.

Great product saved my bike from a theif
My GSXR-600 was attacked a few weeks ago by some scum bag theif in San Jose CA. This lock is the only reason I still have it in my possession. Granted it will not stand up to a professional with time and a Grinder but no secuirty really well except for a Gurad dog and a shot gun!!! If you live in a apartment building get this lock ASAP.....

Chain did all it could but was cut through within 5 minutes with a grinder.
*Note: I live in an apartment complex with a basement gated communal "secure" car parking.
So this chain is a pretty big "deterrent" but that's for normal thieves that haven't exactly targeted your bike.
Unfortunately my bike was targeted and they knew to bring a grinder for the attack.
What I will say is that the thieves had a decent go at bashing the padlock with a crowbar and that did its job, the lock didn't break open. Unfortunately this meant they just resorted to their grinder they bought with them.
Within 2-5 minutes they had the chain but (2 cuts on each side of a chain link) and they were off with the bike.
Not much you can do if thieves use a grinder, I can’t wait for the day someone invents something that is grinder proof.
(Pictures attached and link to CCTV footage)
Padlock = Very good, didn’t break against a crowbar attack.
Chain = It did all it could but was cut within 2-5 minutes with a grinder.
What I would change:
Next time I will be using a massive Almax 19mm chain through the front wheel, an ABUS disc lock on the back wheel and I’m also going to get a Scorpio SR-I900 alarm system…
*I do recommend this product BUT if you're in a communal parking situation like mine you need to have other deterrents.

Hefty, smooth and well built
This thing is huge and the size is a deterrent in itself. I took one star off because in the 2 weeks I have owned this, the lock has become stuck once and I have had to spend about 5 minutes just trying to open it with the provided keys.

Much larger than expected - A comically beefy chain and lock.
When I opened the package I laughed, I've never seen such a serious chain and lock. The weak point in securing your bike will not be this lock, it will be whatever you lock it to. I have my bike chained to the window bars on my basement window and the chain is 1.5x as thick as the bars.
The lock is pretty tight to the chain - I can barely get the U around a small frame bar and still fit in the links. It is a trick with gloves on.
There's not much to my bike, and the chain is thick, so I can't really run the chain around anything where it won't rest on the hot exhaust. I wish the U were 1/4" longer, ot the chain a few inches longer, but I guess they are tight so the chain doesn't rest on the ground, and nobody can get a prybar into the U.

waaaaay to short
Lock is great as is the chain looks real tough and tamper proof however it is way too short to even go trough the rear heel and rear swing arm and back around a pipe right next to the bike... would be perfect if it was longer.

Great product but could be better
I bought this chain to make me feel a little bit better parking my bike outside. The chain does just that, it is very strong and it will take some serious tools to get this chain off without a key. The only problem with this chain is it needs to be longer! I bought the 5 ft version and it is still a pain sometimes finding things I am able to lock it to. Make a longer one Kryptonite! Other than that it is a great product and a must buy for the safety of your motorcycle.
