Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Chain Disc Lock
Chain did all it could but was cut through within 5 minutes with a grinder.
*Note: I live in an apartment complex with a basement gated communal "secure" car parking.
So this chain is a pretty big "deterrent" but that's for normal thieves that haven't exactly targeted your bike.
Unfortunately my bike was targeted and they knew to bring a grinder for the attack.
What I will say is that the thieves had a decent go at bashing the padlock with a crowbar and that did its job, the lock didn't break open. Unfortunately this meant they just resorted to their grinder they bought with them.
Within 2-5 minutes they had the chain but (2 cuts on each side of a chain link) and they were off with the bike.
Not much you can do if thieves use a grinder, I can’t wait for the day someone invents something that is grinder proof.
(Pictures attached and link to CCTV footage)
Padlock = Very good, didn’t break against a crowbar attack.
Chain = It did all it could but was cut within 2-5 minutes with a grinder.
What I would change:
Next time I will be using a massive Almax 19mm chain through the front wheel, an ABUS disc lock on the back wheel and I’m also going to get a Scorpio SR-I900 alarm system…
*I do recommend this product BUT if you're in a communal parking situation like mine you need to have other deterrents.

Hefty, smooth and well built
This thing is huge and the size is a deterrent in itself. I took one star off because in the 2 weeks I have owned this, the lock has become stuck once and I have had to spend about 5 minutes just trying to open it with the provided keys.

Much larger than expected - A comically beefy chain and lock.
When I opened the package I laughed, I've never seen such a serious chain and lock. The weak point in securing your bike will not be this lock, it will be whatever you lock it to. I have my bike chained to the window bars on my basement window and the chain is 1.5x as thick as the bars.
The lock is pretty tight to the chain - I can barely get the U around a small frame bar and still fit in the links. It is a trick with gloves on.
There's not much to my bike, and the chain is thick, so I can't really run the chain around anything where it won't rest on the hot exhaust. I wish the U were 1/4" longer, ot the chain a few inches longer, but I guess they are tight so the chain doesn't rest on the ground, and nobody can get a prybar into the U.

waaaaay to short
Lock is great as is the chain looks real tough and tamper proof however it is way too short to even go trough the rear heel and rear swing arm and back around a pipe right next to the bike... would be perfect if it was longer.

Great product but could be better
I bought this chain to make me feel a little bit better parking my bike outside. The chain does just that, it is very strong and it will take some serious tools to get this chain off without a key. The only problem with this chain is it needs to be longer! I bought the 5 ft version and it is still a pain sometimes finding things I am able to lock it to. Make a longer one Kryptonite! Other than that it is a great product and a must buy for the safety of your motorcycle.

I purchased the 5' lock...so far, I still possess my bike. At just over 15 pounds, it's basically like a boat anchor.
Can someone cut through it? Sure, a very determined SOB. Bottom line, it's heavy, solid and really one heck of a deterrent.

Heavy Duty Security
I recently moved into an apartment complex and I needed something to secure my bike when I'm away and using my car. This is definitely going to make anyone think twice about trying to steal my bike. After reading other reviews I now know that it would've been nice if the chain was longer than 5' but other than that there are no complaints.
I also have a disc lock for my bike, better safe than sorry.

Could be longer
If you are looking for some peace of mind this chain will add a layer of protection that will help. I say a layer because each security measure you add helps to keep your bike where you left it. However, even at its longest lenght the chain is still short depending on what you plan to lock your bike down to. I have noticed some other people around town just attach the chain to a wheel and nothing else. Probably not the best idea as most thieves are looking for parts and not just to joy ride on your bike. You have a better chance of detering both joy riders and those looking to lift your bike into a van by finding something good to achor the chain down to if you are not going to purchase the anchor. Outside of the lenght issue the chain is very strong and will make your bike a harder target ESPECIALLY if used correctly.
