Tarmac Ventilated Boots seem to be a great buy, light like a pair of good sneakers yet durable, protective and strong.

as recommended, bought a half size larger. fits well. lots of protection. good walking boot as well. nice to have velcro instead of laces.

Great, but runs small

I wear a size 10 shoe and needed to get an 11 in this boot to fit my feet.

I like 'em

I was looking for a protective boot to use in the hot summer. This was the only one I found. Got the white, it's a little gay but when you're off the bike they look like tennis shoes, instead of clunky work boots. Comfortable and my feet don't sweat as much as 100% leather. Been wearing 'Smart Wool' socks, they seem to be better than cotton. No negatives, they're a little hard to get on and off, but that's part of their protection, I presume.

Great Summer Boots

I'm still breaking these in but they get more and more comfortable each day. I definitely feel a small breeze flowing through, not bad for a protective boot. I was surprised at how comfortable they are walking around. I don't think you can do much better if you are lookng for a summer boot.

I ordered these a half size smaller than my shoes and they are still a little big but once my feet get hot and swell they fit real nice.
I wish the velcro went a little farther so I could get them a little tighter. They are comfortable to walk in and really nice to ride in. I have a little trouble getting my shift foot below the lever. I'd by them again but probably go a whole shoe size smaller.

If you are used to wearing thick socks buy a size larger, but if you are buying for summer use a thin nylon or poly sock and buy to size.
I put the tarmac boot on and it was like putting on my favorite pair of shoes. The boot provides close support without hot spots or pressure points. The protective qualites, like hard toe cap and hard points on the ankle are much better than what a work boot would provide.

Does not fit Wide Foot

I was reaaly looking forward to this bot, but when it arrived and I put it on, it was very cramped. The fit was about a 1/2 sixe too small, which would have been an easy fix, but they also fit very narrow.

I have a Wide foot. Not a very wide foot, I just need to wear the first Wide size in most shoes, but some regulars do fit me. These went beyond the usual slightly cramped feeling and actually put my feet to sleep.

All that said, if a narrow boot fits you, I believe these would be very comfortable, as they feel almost like tennis shoes.

I spoke with customer support from both companies, and was told that thes boots fit very tight, and that even going up a size would not help me. I returned them, painlessly, and am now looking for that elusive summer boot that fits a wide foot.

I am trying the Revit Air Blend next, due to a review by someone who sounds like they have the same kind of foot as I, Average to Wide.

Tarmac Boots

I bought these in a size 11 and they fit like most size 11s typically do. They seem like sturdy well built boots for this price range. Definatly more of a heavy duty sneaker or light hiking boot feel rather then an armored riding boot. The floating armor they discribe is actually part of the upper strap and is not something sewn into the boot itself.

My major complaint about these boots is that they are very difficult to get into. There are laces built into the tonge that are fixed. You can't adjust them. This means that you have to squeeze your foot into the boot to get them on. I can do it but it's actually a fair amount of effort. Once in the boot fits fine so it's not an issue of having a boot that is sized too small. I'm worried about the long term wear on the lining in the back of the boot. It seems like this is going to wear or bunch up given the amount of force I need to put on it to get the boot on.

One other thing I found is that they warmed my feet up a fair amount just wearing them around the house. It wasn't dramatic enough to be uncomfortable but it was noticable compared to my uninsulated leather hiking boots. I doubt this would be a problem riding but if you plan on wearing them for a long while once you get to your destination it might be something to consider.

It's winter here now so I can't comment on how they perform on the bike. Once I can get out I'll update the review. Would I get them again? Probably not. I'd look for something else in this price range. Would I say they are terrible boots? No, they seem very well constructed and comfortable but the difficulty getting them on is too much of a negative.
