Symax 2 - Great Flip-up

I had the original Symax, and this one is a definite improvement. The helmet seems to vent better than the original and the built in sunscreen is great for those times when your own sunglasses don't quite do the job. I'm not real fond of the spring-loaded retractor, though, and wonder how it will hold up in the long run. The steel latching mechanism is stronger than that in some of the cheaper flip-ups. I nearly bought a cheaper, non-HJC flip-up, till I saw a guy in a bike shop give it a stiff pull and pop it open. The HJC stayed latched when given the same test.

I find this helmet as noisy as the original Symax, but I wear ear plugs. No helmet is quiet enough for me to dispense with them. A windscreen can help some. The HJC sizing chart seems to work pretty well for me. Of course, overall comfort will depend on the shape of your head.

The built-in sunscreen was a surprise. I had a previois model SyMax that served me very well during an accident. I always wear one and am glad I did. The SyMax II is a bit lighter, and the airflow system seems better, too. I am pleased with my purchase. Visibility is good, even through the two plastic lens levels. It is a great buy from Revzilla.

This Helmet Rocks!

The modular flip up and the internal sun visor make my life easier! The quality meets my demands. The venting is just right. I don't have any buffeting like I did with my other helmets. Wind noise is slight and is not an issue for me. And the wine color matches my 2009 Vulcan 500 perfectly.
